He says right out that he started hating Israel after his family moved to California because it was a way to fit in with his new Arab friends. He converted to Islam for the same reason.

I think in that respect his experience is more akin to the DSA Antizionists. After 10/7 it became cool to hate Jews on the left. Accusing Israel of genocide demonstrates that you’re one of the cool kids.

But you’re right that Arab hatred of the Jews is similar to MAGA hatred of blacks and immigrants. It comes from a sense of wounded pride. “How can they succeed when I’m supposed to be the one on top?!”

My concern is with Palestinian atrocities against Jews.

When two groups of people go to war, there is going to be messy events and behavior on both sides.

Propaganda, tribalism, emotions, ideological blinders, etc, they all come into play.

If one side is heavily outgunned by the other, that doesn't make them innocent victims.
