What method have you used to ascertain whether or not anyone has complained about the use of the term?

The method I sued is called "reading." In every thread where the matter has come up no one has complained about it.

I have never claimed that the term "manhater" applies exclusively to lesbians. But it is, and has long been, a perjorative used against them, based on the implication that lesbianism is not motivated by love for or sexual attraction to women, but is an entirely negative construction that only defines lesbians by their attitudes towards men.

I see, so the term "fag" which DOES exclusively refer to homosexuals, while the term "manhater" does NOT, yet you claim the former is not homophobic while the latter is? If it does not exclusively refer to lesbians then I should not be accused of making a homophobic comment merely because she happened to be a lesbian (a fact I as not even aware of at the time).

If you feel that MzChrista has made anti-male statements on this board, by all means engage the particulars of those statements. To my knowledge, no one has done so, but merely thrown the term at her as an insult.

I don't know how many times I've told you I did not know MzChrista was a lesbian at the time I called her a manhater. But if context counts for so much, then maybe you should consider that A. MzChrista obviously hates men (hence "manhater") and B. I had no idea she was a lesbian at the time. What her problem with men is I don't know, or whether or not it has anything to do with her sexual preference , nor do I care.

Now let's look at the word. Actually, I couldn't find any definitions for the term "manhater" (or man-hater or man hater) in online dictionaries (including Cambridge and American Heritage, so I also searched for "misandrist" (like a mysoginist, but with the genders reversed). This leads me to wonder why one would argue so adamently that a term is necessarily means one and only one thing, considering the fact that the term is not even recognized as slang. I find this odd since most dictionaries consider common usage to be the accurate guideline for definitions. But I digress...

A. I don't think anything is obvious, except that she maybe hates assholes. I bet that goes for both genders though.

B. You had "no idea" that she was a lesbian. No idea? On the GLBT forum ... you had NO IDEA that she was a lesbian? You're either incredibly naive ... or a liar. Neither is very flattering.

For my first post on this forum I would like to back up this thread by saying that Etoile is one of the coolest people I've had the opporunity to talk to. So I'm all behind this threat.

However, I think McZ is a total biatch/hater-of-people-that-possess-prostates. But that's not secret.
