Excitement, adventure and really wild things

I think the best compliment I ever had paid to me was from my sons' pals, whenever they came to visit, stay for supper, sleep over - sometimes a whole raft of 18/19 year olds, boys and girls.

Apparently they liked coming to our house because 'your mum doesn't act like.....a mum. She's fun.'

*takes a bow.* Thank you kids, you have no idea how good that made me feel.

I loved that too. Being able to play with my daughter on DDR pads and having people say "I wish my mom would do stuff like this. She's so cool."

I'm drifting. I know that I am and I need to stop. That's my greatest gift and my greatest curse; the ability to make the best of most situations. But I need to start swimming. And I'm going to. Really, I am.

Mine said "You're the only mom I know that sings White Stripes songs while you make breakfast"
I said;
"I make Breakfast????"

One of my daughter's friends was getting harassed during a party by a guy. He kept calling bitching at her for showing up and she looked so sad. I asked her what's going on. She kept having to get off the DDR pads to answer her cell phone. She said she felt bad if she doesn't answer. He could have come to the party, and now she has to explain to him that she's having fun...maybe she should have talked him into coming here...he's called about six times in an hour.

I say "Honey, he's jerking you around. It's your party, your phone. He's not here. You are. Your phone is your butler. Let it take a message. Go dance."

She takes one more call. "My phone is my butler." Hangs up and goes to have some fun.

My mission for the evening is to always get the shy kids who look like it would be the most fun ever to do that...to get up and give it a try.
