Exercise thread... who's with me?

Fly_On_Wall

Honey it is that cold BRRRRRRR I have been sleeping with my longjohns and 2 blankees---coming from a girl that usually sleeps naked year round say alot about how cold it has been. That and the park closes at dark--its now dark around 530pm  *crying* I dont like winter weather. I prefer spring and the beginning of fall (not too cold or hot, and light out till 8pm +).

I do the treadmill at the gym, as well as the weights. Its working, and they do have a great eucalyptus room that i relax in after work (great for my sinus condition). I just miss the pretty trees, and grass, and the beautiful trails I walked on. And I really am not crazy about exercising--I might like it better when I am in better shape.

I would still like that miracle drug that would instantly make you 125lbs....Ya think if they can clone a sheep, they could come up with that huh ;)

Joining a gym was the real break through for me. I've tried excercising at home and was just too distracted. Likewise, running around the neighborhood is too dependent on the weather.

Now I try and go to the gym every day - I either bring music cd's with me or audio books. And the only reason I'm at the gym is to excercise - therefore, no distractions.

I'm just catching up here at lit right now and off to the gym...

*smile*

I've given up the Dew....

and have drank so much water,I am going to float soon. Is it really necessary?

On the other hand,I dont have a bad headache from the lack of caffiene, so maybe water isnt so bad.

9lbs is really good, how are you finding the diet? is it easy to stick to?

It was a bit difficult at first, I started it last Friday, and by the Wednesday, I'd lost heart, but I went shopping for lots of chicken and stuff and saw some nice recipes and I'm doing great now :)

Cheers !

work out advice

hi everyone just wanted to impart a lil advice i have picked up thru the years i started out at 140 lbs in 1994 i am now up to 180 lbs and am 10% body fat. many ppl work out by doing cardio and cutting back calories which is fine, but do not neglect the benefits of weights(not 12oz kind) it is very hard for a body to burn fat without increasing your muscle content. muscle tissue loves to burn fat for fuel. so the more you have the more fat u burn. dont starve yourself either low calorie intake works for about 2 weeks and then weight loss will stagnate! i eat on average of 2000-3000 calories a day which includes lots of goodies like mcdonalds kfc and my favorite pizza and i am abel to keep my frame by working out 4-5 days a week. so take care good luck and great idea for a thread! if any one has questions i moonlight as a trainer so give me a pm if u r stuck!

You'll get used to the water eventually! :D Drink at least 8 glasses a day, well that's the recommendation. I say drink when your thirsty!

The best exercise there is the being that the anyone can be the having is the hot sweaty sex. The more the hot sweaty sex you are the having the more the weight you are the losing and the more the in shape you are the getting. And it is being the most fun of all the any type of exercising there is the being!

Okay,I am not an expert or anything, but I dont think you can get that kind of workout in your local gym......;)

True, true.

Well, I haven't lost any noticable weight yet, but I can run across the bridge to the Ravice dorm complex without panting, so I suppose that's a good sign.

Is it too late for me to join in on this. My ass is big. The holidays are coming near and it's only gonna get worse.

Goddess, it's never too late to start.

Set your goals, and we'll cheer you on.

I have another goal to add!

Even if I don't lose weight I want to do something about my stomach. I have a roll thing going on (sounds attractive doesn't it??) and I really want to get rid of it. Mostly because it looks bad when I try to wear cute shirts! Any tips?

My candy goal is
1. No more candy (after Halloween) except on special occasions and when I feel that I must have a piece of chocolate or I will shot someone!

This may help

I met up with an old friend today for the first time in 3 months, although she was never overweight she did have what she called a left over baby pouch! Today she is so trim and was showing off her now flat stomach in really tight jeans and a midriff jumper. Her wonder treatment was Pilates she's been doing for twice a week for 2 months and its worked wonders. Her tip is whilst doing it tie a piece of string around your stomach whilst pulling it in, this ensures that you excercise and stretch the stomach properly.

What is Pilates?

Its a form of low impact exercise that tones and tightens by mainly using slow movents that involve a lot of stretching. I havnt tried it myself but have signed up at the gym tonight for a class next week. The class was fully booked tonight but I spoke to a few people after it and although its only been going on for 4 weeks at my gym they all said they can seen the difference in their bodies. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will do something for me.

Right, got it, will rent.....no excuses.

havent been able to get onto the boards for a couple of days since i have been working on my new stories but i have been faithful in my exercise.

i also started increasing my water intake and i can feel the difference (besides the bloating feeling).

i got word that that Tae Bo workout works wonders. one person lost three dress sizes in two months doing it. i am thinking of finding a tape and doing that for my exercise days.

i am also going to go to the store and buy some wrist and ankle weights for my walking days.

Thanks for the idea miz_understood! I'll have to try that. I know I can get some books if I can't get a video.

I am so excited that I had to share this. I have lost 10 pounds. Here lately I was getting depressed and thinking of quiting, but thanks to ya'll I didnt and when I weighed myself,I had lost the weight.

This was with only walking and diet, but I am thinking of adding Pilates to it too.
