When Hillary Clinton tweeted yesterday in the midst of her latest scandal “I want the public to see my email,” did she mean all ten hidden accounts, or just hdr22@clintonmail.com, the only account to be outed before that tweet? Now, thanks to a hacker, who seems not to have done anything illegal but use a piece of software, things have gone, shall we say, a little haywire:






A prominent hacker tells Fox News’ James Rosen that Hillary Clinton appears to have established multiple email addresses for private use.

Aides to the former secretary of state say she only used one private email while in office — hdr22@clintonemail.com. That domain name has been traced to a private Internet server in Clinton’s hometown of Chappaqua, N.Y. The server was registered in the name of Clinton’s former aide Eric Hothem a week before the Obama administration assumed office.

Rosen’s hacker source employed a tool called “The Harvester” to search a number of data sources to look for references to the domain name Clintonemail.com. The source says it appears Clinton established multiple email addresses, including hdr@clintonemail.com, hdr18@clintonemail.com, hdr19@clintonemail.com, hdr20@clintonemail.com, and hrd21@clintonemail.com.

Other email addresses include h.clinton@clintonemail.com, Hillary@clintonemail.com, contact@clintonemail.com, and mau_suit@clintonemail.com.

It’s not clear whether Clinton used any or all of these email addresses. It’s also unclear whether her aides used them.

Fox News reached out to the Clinton team for comment and has not heard back.

The State Department has had a policy in place since 2005 to warn officials against routine use of personal e-mail accounts for government work, a regulation in force during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state that appears to be at odds with her reliance on a private email for agency business, POLITICO has learned.

The policy, detailed in a manual for agency employees, adds clarity to an issue at the center of a growing controversy over Clinton’s reliance on a private email account. Aides to Clinton, as well as State Department officials, have suggested that she did nothing inappropriate because of fuzzy guidelines and lack of specific rules on when and how official documents had to be preserved during her years as secretary.

But the 2005 policy was described one of several “clear cut” directives the agency’s own inspector general relied on to criticize the conduct of a U.S. ambassador who in 2012 was faulted for using email outside of the department’s official system.

“It is the Department’s general policy that normal day-to-day operations be conducted on an authorized [Automated Information System], which has the proper level of security control to provide nonrepudiation, authentication and encryption, to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the resident information,” the Department’s Foreign Affairs Manual states.

Spokespeople for the State Department and Clinton stressed earlier this week that the agency had “no prohibition” on the use of private e-mail for work purposes.

“Rules are for thee, not for me” could be Hillary Clinton’s motto, and we have proof. Fox News obtained a copy of a cable sent to State Department employees admonishing them to not use private emails for official business.


Sent to diplomatic and consular staff in June 2011, the unclassified cable, bearing Clinton's electronic signature, made clear to employees they were expected to "avoid conducting official Department business from your personal e-mail accounts." The message also said employees should not "auto-forward Department email to personal email accounts which is prohibited by Department policy.”





Since Mrs. Clinton did not even have an official email account, obviously she was using personal email in violation of the policy. Her cable cited specifics:

Keilar went on to suggest other Democrats might be tempted to run for president after this latest revelation.

I was thinking more of making both income tax and payroll tax much, much more progressive than they are now, and adding a wealth tax on net worth, and perhaps increasing the EITC. There's redistribution in the form of, well, redistribution.

But according to both legal analysts who appeared on Fox News’ The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson Wednesday afternoon, Clinton is in the clear.

“I’m going to say no, because at the time she did what she did when she used her own personal email, the law was very nebulous,” former prosecutor Jonna Spilbor said in response to Carlson’s question about Clinton breaking the law. “It didn’t say you couldn’t use your own email, it said any government use of email had to be preserved. So what did she violate?” she asked. As long as Clinton can still retrieve the emails in question, Spilbor said, “There’s no law broken.”

Carlson’s other guest, Arthur Aidala agreed, saying there may be ways to tell if Clinton is deliberately trying to hide communications. “Was there a crime?” he said. “You can’t be convicted of a crime that didn’t exist at the time that you committed it.”

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for former secretary of state Colin Powell revealed that he too primarily used a personal email address during his tenure under Bush. Both his and Clinton’s time in the State Department predated changes to federal law that required officials to use government accounts for official communications, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

As she said, she wants the public to see her e-mail. That’s why she set up at least 10 different addresses that we know about so far, all hidden from the public.

We don’t and can’t know which of these addresses she used, which of the e-mails she’s deleted, or anything else about any of it. That was the point of the whole extragovernmental exercise. She thinks she’s above the law.

Most of those addresses aren’t too imaginative, which just makes that last one stand out all the more. I don’t know what a “mau suit” is, but here’s a Mao suit:
