Can anyone name a single accomplishment by the putative World’s Smartest Woman (a title currently being wrested from her by Elizabeth Warren, who will be the next Democrat nominee for president), other than her own self-advancement? She did exactly nothing in her placeholder job as “senator” from New York state besides planning her first presidential run — how she must loathe Barry Hussein for stealing that idea from her — and her tenure as “secretary of state” resulted in the collapse of bipartisan, consensual American foreign policy and the deaths of four Americans in Libya.
What we are witnessing now — and the Times’ stories are an unmistakable warning shot across Hillary’s bow — is the end of the Clintons as major factors in the nation’s politics. For a Yale grad, Mrs. Clinton is mighty dumb. She missed the signals the first time, when David Axelrod unfurled his trusty JournOlist rolodex and persuaded his media buddies that an obscure nobody in Illinois was the Next Big Progressive Thing. She got bought off by a bright, shiny bauble called Foggy Bottom, where she embarrassed herself. And now, magically, the house organ of American Regressivism, the NYT, has suddenly discovered her private email empire. How about that?
In the Mob, an aging boss is usually given the courtesy of having a trusted underling whacked, which generally causes him to realize that Florida or Arizona are mighty nice places in January, and besides gangland is a younger man’s game. After all, Bill Clinton’s own mentor and benefactor, Owney Madden, “retired” from the New York City rackets in 1935 and spent the rest of his life in Hot Springs, Ark., tending to his Jack Russell terriers and consulting with various goombahs in an eminence grise capacity, dying at 73 in 1965 free and unprosecuted, with $4 million stuffed in books and coffee cans around his home on Grand Street.

This morning brings confirmation that there is no play too abjectly ridiculous for Elijah Cummings to attempt. Per The Hill: The top Democrat on the House Select Committee on Benghazi is praising former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for announcing that she wants messages from her personal email accounts to be made public.
“As far as I am aware, no other Cabinet secretary in history has ever called for the release of his or her emails — in their entirety and throughout his or her tenure,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said in a statement on Thursday. “I commend Secretary Clinton’s decision.”
Clinton broke her silence about the brewing controversy over her personal email accounts late Wednesday night, tweeting: “I want the public to see my email.” The reason that Hillary “wants the public to see her e-mail” is that she’s been caught red-handed trying to hide it. This is not some great blow for transparency, voluntarily struck within a political vacuum. Rather, it is the desperate and cynical act of a woman who is scrambling to gain control of a story that threatens her future.
For the last few years, Clinton has conducted her official business on an email server that was explicitly commissioned to to help her avoid scrutiny. Now, reasonably pretty much everybody is asking penetrating questions as to why, and as to what this might mean in practice. Of course she’s going to pretend she’s Little Miss Sunlight. (She’s not, of course. Nobody will ever find anything of use.) One does not praise crooks for helping the police with their inquiries. That is the bare minimum that they are expected to do. If this is Cummings’s standard, one can only imagine that he expressed wild admiration for Jeffrey Dahmer when, cornered by the authorities, Dahmer condescended to inform the cops where all the bodies had been hidden.-
