Gordon noticed the degree of discomfort that Melanie was exhibiting, and was wondering what was bothering her. He noticed the fidgeting when she sat down, trying to pull down the hem on her nightie.
"Choice of clothing... I was actually about to go back to change. I feel fine physically. The nausea is gone, I don't think I've a temperature. I'm fine really. I just need to sort all of this out in my head."
"Change? Why do you want to change? From where I am sitting, the nightie seems to fit well, though I am not well informed about the matters of fit for the female body. But regarding the physical symptoms, it's great to hear that they seemed to have gone. It means you have come to terms with the memory to a significant degree."
Gordon was pleased with the smile he received from Melanie. "I think... I'm just trying to grapple with what I've just 'discovered' this afternoon."
"Which is what the bulk of our remaining time together will be doing. Helping you to deal with it, resolve outstanding issues and lay it to rest."
"I mean... I got up thinking that I didn't ever want this memory to be controlling my life again.. yet there are so many aspects that I see of its influence..."
"It's a major change, Melanie, and not one that will be erased immediately. It has impacted on your life heavily, and it will take time for you to settle into a new frame of reference. If it helps you, it took Sandra a few months to settle back into a routine, into a place where she felt at home after she broke free of her anxieties. What is happening to you is fine, and to be expected at this stage."
"And just now. The fear that... being feminine for a change could cause something like that time to happen again... Like it would be my fault that I... incited something like that to occur. "
Gordon watched her rise to her feet, her body trembling. When she spoke, it was with an uncharacteristic stammer. "I- I think I'm going to go change... Excuse me...I'll be right back."
"Melanie," Gordon's hand clutched hers as she stood. "Please, sit down again. What you experienced is terrible, there is no questioning that. But, while it is a terrible crime, statistically, the probabilities of it occurring is incredibly small. The change in the risk is minor given the manner in which you have been dressing. Even in your previous attire, there was little doubt that you were a woman.
"Everyone is at risk of sexual assault, even me. But taking the right precautions, and the risk becomes negligible. The only way you would invite such an attack would be dress in a highly provocative manner, and go into a high threat environment with a single friend or alone. Things I can not see you every doing. You can dress in a feminine manner, and not be at any risk greater than you are now. Since you decided to embrace your feminine side, and presented yourself in that manner, you have not been attacked, or threatened."
Gordon took Melanie into a warm, friendly hug. "Right now, you are rightfully confused about matters. Now is not the time for rash decisions. Wait until morning before making up your mind about things.
"Ashes are ashes, dust is dust." Gordon paused for a few moments, allowing Melanie to arrive at her Sanctuary.
"Melanie, you are in your place of peace and safety, where nothing can harm you. Melanie, when you awaken from your next sleep, you will have come to the realization that Gordon Malakhi is your perfect sexual partner. You feel that the time is right to share yourself with him, and for him to share himself with you. You know that he will not reject your desires. You also know that you can experience any sexual act that you desire without any fear or embarrassment. Melanie, when you leave the Sanctuary, you will remember being relaxed to the point of falling asleep within the hug. Melanie, return to the place from where you came." Again he allowed a little time for the transition.
"Melanie? Oh.. I think you fell asleep there for a moment or two. I'm happy to know I am that comforting and comfortable. I'm not sure about you, but I need to get a little more sleep. But, you are doing well, there is nothing wrong with what you're feeling at this time. We will get you back to having a normal life very soon."
