You know what ARMY stands for right? Ain't Ready For Marines Yet.

You know what Marine stands for right? My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment.

Let that be a lesson to ya pogue.

marine

And this is a surprise why exactly?

The "party of morality" has never been.. anyone stupid enough to fall for it deserves to have their heros die before their eyes...

And yet there's the 20% who thinks obama is a socialist and still think that bush did a good job... You know, the folks with their heads in the sand... that's iraqi sand for those who were wondering.

Another old Army joke about the intelligence level of Marines.

If you order 100 Marines to rush a machine gun nest they will, to a man, scream Hoo-rah, run up and get mowed down by the fortified enemy position.

If you order 100 Army soldiers to do the same they will tell you to get fucked and call for artillery, then take over the position.

never heard that one. true though. marines are known to be the cannon fodder that goes in first. on the chess board they would be the pawn you sacrifice to lure out the rook

Yes. That is what it all boils down to. Politicians spend their entire idealistic younger lives building a 'respectful' image. Most happily married to whom I suspect are wonderful wives. They get bored, caught up in whatever it is they are doing, then see the lovely available young lass as an erotic escape. They are also fearful a vendictive wife can rip all that 'reputation' away in a heartbeat.

Then the question begs to be asked.. Why risk all of that for some 22yo quiff? Seems like these political idiots have an awful lot to lose to risk a career like that.

I guess he felt it was worth it.

In the venerable words of Mr Gump "Stupid is as stupid does"

That is a good question Mark. I suppose only Senator Stanley can answer that. I am only taking this at face value.

I mean to say, someone in his position, establishes a pattern or history of supporting certain values which hold meaning to those who support or vote for him. He is beholding to them and expected to uphold and be an example for those same values or morals. In a moment(s) of weakness, he makes one fatal mistake which contradicts all that he stands for. A mistake which could easily bring about his downfall.

I would guess that, at this very moment, he is asking himself what in the hell was going through his mind? And why did he do it?

tennessee state senator was caught with his 22 year old intern. i guess he was behind the trend. one of the funnier things is he was also a sunday school teacher. here is a cut from the article.

its not all bad news. i gotta give him some points. the boyfriend of the intern tried to blackmail him and he called the cops and then told everyone he cheated.

Well, that's fairly simple.

Why have a career like that?

Power.

Why seek power?

To get laid. Be the alpha male.

So if he didn't risk his career, there would be almost no point in having a career.

Why work your way to the top if you can't pee off the edge? Unless of course you actually believe he worked his whole life for the betterment of others, that he actually believed what he preached. This may be true for some, but with politicians I'd say it's a very small minority.

Power makes a man desirable to women. Youth makes a woman desirable to men. It is unrealistic to
expect powerful men to work with young women without this kind of thing happening from time to time.
This is particularly true if the man is not particularly good looking. At the age of 50 he discovers that he
can attract women who would not have given him the time of day when he was 25. Nevertheless, it is
always fun to watch a Republican politician who appeals to the religious right get caught with his
principles down. :D

One of the appeals of Christianity is that it tells us not to do what we would like to do, but are unable
to do, and it tells us that we are morally superior to those who do those things.

Actually, Marine stands for "Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential" (see: Haditha).

It also seems that this was a pattern for this guy. One of his ex-wives was at one time his intern according to the article. Having an affair is one thing and most of the time the general public isn't too concerned about it unless it is a high profile political figure and they want to make hay out of it (I think without researching exact figure about 75% of marriages deal with this at one time or another).

But this strikes me as one of those situations where you just want to smack the guy upside the head and ask "What were you thinking? Did you figure this would never become public?"

Sometimes politicians are so stupid.

May be true.. but there is a difference in taking a calculated risk to further one's career and really fucking up..

This guy REALLY fucked up.

I think you missed my point. He only fucked up in getting caught.

Gold star post.

Even that is only a fuck up in the way that he can't continue to fuck beautiful young girls. Consider that getting caught was inevitable. He only fucked up in getting caught too early.
