She smiled and drew her lover into the tent. "Finally, sleeping together for once," she joked.

Keth grunted in agreement and held her. It had been a long, stressful day all around.

Al'ika began to gently massage his sore muscles.

He sighed and relaxed into her firm, precise strokes.

She nuzzled into him, still massaging him. "I kind of don't want to sleep," she whispered softly.

"Why not?" he asked, "We need rest in case of fight. Besides, wizard needs you healthy."

"I haven't spent much alone time with you lately," she said, shrugging. "Pretty sure making sure I have a good relationship with my mate is key to making sure I'm healthy."

"Sleep. We have all the time when Ashglow dead."

She smiled. "And my tattoo, don't forget," she teased softly.

"Still working on it," he said, "Need right inspiration."

She smiled. "Night, Keth," she said, snuggling into him sleepily.

"Night, Pretty human," he said, snoring loudly through his snoutlike nose.

She giggled and fell asleep, snuggled up to him.

Vagnor got them up as he noon sun was high in the sky. "We have three more days to travel, and the giants are agitated. It seems they were looted and had to fight skeletons last night."

"Oh, dear, I wonder why," Al'ika said sarcastically as she groggily got up to start packing. "Is there food?"

"Of course, I wouldn't have us marching on an empty stomach," he said, presenting a surprisingly nice meal.

She came out and began eating hungrily.

Vagnor pulled his weight, cleaning up after the meal. A roar came from behind them, not visible but drawing closer.

"What was that?" Al'ika hissed, her hand immediately going to her hilt.
