Fantasy Role Playing Thread Coming soon

does anyone know when we will get started.. or if there is a character limit.. it looks like there is a lot of interest in this!

Yes there certainly is a lot of interest, hopefully it will be up soon.

I wanted to give it some time to breathe and waiting on my internet service to activiate in my new house didn't expediate things, but the actual roleplay thread has started so whenever you're ready...hop on over.

I'll roleplay the instructors but they're pretty much just there for exposition. Little more than talking roadmaps to point everyone in the same direction. Eventually, they'll fade from memory just like any NPC.

Karde, do you want us to use this as OOC or the Academy thread? Let us know.

Chewey

Well, this one seems to be the unofficial/official OOC thread so I figure it can stay that way. I guess the Academy of Meridian thread will be the posting board for new characters, developments and general information about the In-character world (which is what it appears to be shaping up to be).

Yeah, still trying to get the hang of DMing the Roleplaying. It's hard to find the right balance between simply dictaing what happens to everyone and everyone simply reacting to what I tell 'em, and being too distanced from it so that the players seems to be pretty much talking to themselves in character instead of following a story.

Anyhoo, I'm sure I'll find the right balance pretty soon, this story doesn't look like it'll be over too quickly.

Ok, I guess I will put my two cents in. What are we all going to do here? We seem to have three leaders at this point. Morgoth seems to be going one way, Poohlive another way, and now we have a post from Karde that is going in another direction. Are we all going to go in one group , or should we split up? Just wondering, since this might make the thread smooth out a little.

I apologize, if I had known someone was going to take leader, I would have just waited patiently. I didn't see anyone doing anything, and the caravan looked like a good place to start.
Yeah, the group I'm with can just follow you whenever you are ready wild karde.

Whoo, are everyone else's buttons disappearing? Maybe it's just me but the "post response" button vanished from my keyboard.

Anyhoo, you can head off in whatever direction you want. The caravan does sound pretty good. It makes logistical sense at any rate. I did the same as morgoth and poohlive, leading a party since no one else had created any yet.

You can split up into multiple parties. I'd much rather take on the role of Dm anyway, throwing enemies and such at everyone while you all hunt down the gospels (not that it should be much of a surprise, how far do the aged and kindhearted old soldiers make it once the newbies get their adventuring legs...yeah, ol' Areor is heading for an Obi-Wan somewhere down the road).

LMAO at the Obi-Wan comment. I am following the group with Karde. I was just waiting to see how this was going to work before I posted.

I figure I'll use Academy of Meridian thread to work other things in like monster stats and things that the characters should now about their world, but players may not.

Character: "Of course a Gelmack is immune to electricity. Beneath their furry blue skin lies a thick insulating layer of fat to protect them from lightning strikes which are all too common in the region they come from."

Player: "Bet that shaggy bastard'll fry like a frog on a skillet once I put some juice in 'em. Lemme whack it with my sparkly staff of extreme voltage +1."

Result: "For the love of god kill it! Make it dead! He's gnawing on my happy place!!!"

And so you see where a running commentary on little stuff like that could come in handy. Besides, now that just about everyone is in, what other good is that thread anyhoo?

WyldKarde (+1 against Gelmacks) Out

LOL!

I understood everything completely until we got to the +1 voltage reference.

Did I skip a math class in high school that I shouldn't have?

Karde,

Are there trees and what not along the side of the Northern Road that my lightfinger could use as cover as he scouts, or is it open plain? If you want to send me a pm, I can see what I can do to russel up some enemies to fight. LOL

Ardrenaline: It's modified D&D.

Oh!

I watched that cartoon series when I was a kid, and I wanted to be the redhead with the cool invisible cloak.

That's about all I know about D&D. :/

The northern road is a fairly busy road so the empire has trimmed the treeline about twenty feet back from either side of the road to make it less tempting for highwaymen. However, there are deep drainage ditches on either side of the road that serve as even better hiding places for theives, as these ditches are usually overgorwn with high grass and nearly invisible to visitors to the region, who do not know they are there.

I dunno I was pokin some lighthearted fun at RPG's, which can get number-crazy. Ironic considering I'm converting this into a playable RPG and could quote just about every stat imaginable.

Hence my +2 agility check against typos (rolled at a -1 penalty because I'm hammered right now....wheeeeee!).

But don't forget the +5 for being DM and having the ability to do whatever you want! Therefore, a typo could just be a new word, and bad grammar a dialect!

ROFLMFAO , that was beautiful Morgoth. I wish I had thought of that +5 back in the day.

whoa whoa whoa! now im really confused.... Shen is setting up ambush traps and talking to Areor... as far as i could tell we had not made it to the inn yet. what did i miss?????

Yes, I'd like those questions answered as well, and a few of my own.
Barring any theives or anything, I guess my own group doesn't have much to post until they get to the caravan site. I was wondering if you wanted us to do anything, or find anything.
Right now, I'm at a loss for what to post, except for another, "running into the woods" post.
