Nathan Anthony couldn't believe just how crummy his day was going. It all started a few weeks ago, when his best friend started dating this girl. Obviously, he was happy for him- or rather, would have been, hadn't she come from Richardson High. You see, there was this bad feud going on between the two high schools of the area for the longest time. Seeing how their athletic teams were the top in the state, they had some serious competition. So serious, in fact, that year after year students would attempt to sabotage one another as to win tournaments. It was no big secret either, as Nathans basketball coach has actually contemplated the idea of foul play. Not that the eighteen year old man would ever resort to something like that. No, he wanted to crush the competition by his own accord. What good is a win, after all, if it didn't result from your own skill?

The young man's physique definitely gave him an advantage over a good portion of the players. Constant weight lifting had blessed him with a muscular frame. So much so, that one would think that he would be better suited for a more direct contact sport, such as football. Spending most of his summers on beaches, his skin was complimented by a nice tan, resembling of what most surfers had.

That said, the school day was over and he waited outside for his friend. With the wind blowing through slightly, his dark brown shaggy hair was getting in the way of his deep brown eyes. His friend in question, Tyler, had asked him nicely to make a good impression and not dress in his usual grungy get-up. So, he appeared in his black dress shirt and his only pair of jeans that weren't purposely ripped.

Finally, Tyler showed up with his girlfriend Mandy, hand in hand. They were acting all sweet with one another that Nathan exclaimed "You two are seriously going to give me diabetes.". They all shared a short laugh. "Alright, so let's get going." his blond friend said as the three walked by. It wasn't much of a walk really, but he loathed already the trip. The propaganda that goes by in the athletic community certainly did take it's toll on the man and he was anxious over the possibility that the coach, or one of his teammates, would spot him.

Trying to shake off these thoughts, he asked his friend;
"Hey...why are we going there again?"

"You dolt, it's the concert remember?" Mandy said in a joking manner, Tyler's arm around her.

"Right..."

Spring concerts were huge at Richardson. After all. Next to their sports programs. Their music programs. Were top notch. Her being a show choir girl. From birth of course. Her big solo was tonight. Which was most of the song. She was supposed to sing "Jar of Hearts' Her favorite song. Her friend Mandy. Whom had come just to see her. Said the solo was a sign. It made her laugh a bit. But she thought of it as a chance to show what she was worth. The other girls always took the solos. And whenever she sang, they gave her looks like the girls from the rival school would look. Taking their first positions. The curtain rose and they began their first number. Fast and upbeat. Her dark brown curls bouncing as she danced. The lights hitting her hazel eyes in the right light to make the shine. Her tanned body felt hot under the different colored lights. And her smile. It could light up the world. Spotting her best friend with her boyfriend. She winked at her. Twirling and flipping on cue with the song. They were doing "Toxic" first. The third song was her's. Getting pumped up was the best part of their show choir. The applause gave her a rush. If only her parents could see...They always were away overseas on business. And when she called. They were too busy to hear of her day...Yes she felt lonely. But she stayed strong.

When her song came. She thought of how much this song meant to her. Her voice was elegant. And at the same time. Laced the notes perfectly. People in the audience went silent listening to her as the girl behind her danced. Giving it that spooky feeling. Mandy pointed to her. Making her smile a bit. Her pearly whites showing as she belted out each note. Her movements and passion throughout the song shook her. Shook everyone. She had been practicing singing. After all. It was her favorite thing to do. Singing. Was a way to bring her emotions out. When her song ended. She heard the applause ring through the auditorium. With a sweet smile. Her curls bounced as she began to dance for the last song. The concert was a hit. As always. Backstage. Catching her breath. Mandy came to see her. Gushing over how amazing she was. Shaking her head she hugged her. "Thank you for coming." Then she saw Tyler and waved. "You too Tyler-" She noticed another boy standing there. He was tall. And had a nice bod. Tanned skin almost like a surfer. Being latina, her skin was naturally tanned. He was handsome. With a shy smile she nodded and whispered. "..Hello.." When it came to off stage. She was so very shy. Mandy smiled. Noticing this cute chemistry. "Isabelle. This is Nathan. Him and Tyler are mates." Blushing a bit. She knew he wasn't from her school. But still. "..Thanks for coming." she said with a bit of a sweeter smile.

She must have looked like a wreck. Her skin glistened a bit. Saying she just danced up a storm. But her brown eyes were filled with joy as was her smile. Thanking Mandy again. Mandy spoke up. "You guys want to go to dinner with us?" Isabelle didn't want to intrude. But Tyler looked alright. "Oh..Um. Alright. Let me just stop at home and get some clothes on.." Glancing at Nathan. She wondered if he would join them...

"This is so dumb..." Nathan thought to himself as they got to Richardson, hoping to avoid any athlete from their school as well. The coach would, in all probability, either scold him or even kick him out of the team. They were that paranoid over this kind of thing and might even accuse him of 'helping the enemy'. Tyler probably could tell what was going on and patted him on the back. As if that was going to help. But despite all of this, Nathan wasn't a complainer. He would bottle all this up for now and hope for the best.

They all took their seats, near the front. Reaching in his pocket, he had his cell phone, to which he'd proclaim an 'emergency', should this event turn into an utter disaster. In due time, the lights began to dim and the show began. The first song was alright, Nathan thought, but nothing worth the trip. He was a hard critic like that; he would constantly try to pick at whatever was wrong. Of course he wouldn't go on about it with his friends, just something that occurred in his mind. He noticed one of the girls wink towards Mandy and assumed they were both friends or something. His opinion of everything, however, changed when that girl began to sing.

It was completely unbelievable. As she sang out the notes perfectly, chills were sent down his spine. At that moment, it was as if the whole room was simply gone and his entire focus went to her. It wasn't even his kind of music either, but she sang with such grace that it didn't even matter if the original song didn't appeal to him; she had made it her own. Lost within her voice, he didn't even notice time passing, until she ended and everyone was clapping. He was utterly shaken by the majesty of her singing, that his own clapping was a bit delayed.

As the show was over and people began to leave, Mandy was eager to go backstage and to see her friend. Nathan, of course, had to go with them. As they reached backstage, Mandy rushed in and complimented her over how that was an amazing show. And it was. The woman hugged Mandy and waved to Tyler and paused at me. I notice then, as we weren't so distant as we were a while back, that this girl was ridiculously beautiful. Her long hair shined in with the light and her hazel eyes practically entranced the young man. It seemed that her outside beauty matched the nature of her voice.

"..Hello.." she said softly. He wasn't the shy type of the slightest, but felt a knot in his stomach as she spoke to him. "Hi." he said simply, as he looked at her. "The hell is this?" he thought to himself, as he usually was more confident than this. Luckily, Mandy seemed to do the introduction well with Isabelle thanking them for coming. With her sweet smile, Nathan couldn't help but smile back at her.

Mandy, once again spoke up as Nathans broke out of his thoughts, asking if they wanted to go get dinner with them. Nathan was glad to see that she was going and so though that maybe it was a good idea for him to tag along as well. "Well, I'll go too if you don't mind." he said, rubbing the back of his neck, a mannerism he had that occurred whenever he was feeling a bit nervous. Tyler knew this and raised an eyebrow. "Of course not." he then said to Nathan.

Isabelle had gotten into her car. Telling them to pick her up in a few minutes. Pulling out of the parking lot. The moon being a guide to her since so many teenagers were out and about. The freshman always came to the show. Isabelle even remembered being one of them in her younger years. Being entranced by the charms of the show choir and the voices all coming into harmony. The sports rivalry got under her skin sometimes. Especially when the pom squad decided to go off on them. Show choir girls were better then the poms any day of the week. That usually resulted in a cat fight between some of the other girls. Isabelle on the other hand. Just used her words. Rolling her eyes thinking about it, she pulled into her driveway. Stepping out. Her high heeled show choir show clicked against the cement. Rustling through her bag for her key, she pulled it out. Walking into the deserted house. Silence greeted her, a familiar greeting. Yes, she was eighteen and living alone. Every kids dream at her age. But loneliness was a curse. Stripping out of her glitzy show choir outfit, she hung it up. Stripping down and stepping into the shower to wash the sweat off of her. The colder water felt nice. Giving her a refreshed feeling. As she dried her hair. Her natural curls bounced back into place. Quickly she put on a grey blouse and a black skirt. Lotion on her legs to give it that special glow and then, from outside her house a car horn was heard. With a quiet laugh to herself. Isabelle grabbed her purse and locked the door. Taking a seat in the car.

Scooting in too quickly she bumped into Nathan. Blushing she backed off a bit. "..Sorry." She whispered with a cute smile. She was always in a rush. And she forgot that he was there for a moment. Pulling into the parking lot of a diner that was well known in their quaint little town. They took their seats in a booth. Reading over the menu, she knew what she wanted. Burgers weren't her thing. As the waitress in roller skates came up to serve their drinks. Everyone was ready to order. "I'll take the adult grilled cheese with bacon. Please " She said with a bright smile. As the woman took her menu, she gave a quiet thank you. Then turned back to the couple. The girls sat on one side. The boys on their own. but Mandy and Tyler were reaching across the table to give the other kisses and hold each others hand. Isabelle thought the two were adorable. but secretly. She was jealous. It was a hope of her's to have a lovey dovey relationship. Her friend deserved it of course though. Nathan and Isabelle were across from each other. So while those two went all googly eyes on each other. They ate their food. Always catching each others eyes staring and then laughing at the couple next to them. When they all finished. They went outside. Their couple friends beginning to act a bit too PDA for their liking. Since they were literally sucking on each other. Blushing Isabelle walked the other way. "Maybe you two should get a room" She called in a poking fun tone. Mandy just rolled her eyes and continued to kiss her boyfriend. Isabelle was feeling a bit jealous when she walked off the other way. Not realizing the trouble she was about to get into.

Deciding to walk home, since it wasn't that far. She had said goodnight to Nathan. And told him it was a pleasure to meet him. Thinking of him as she walked through the town. She had been flirting with him most of the night. He was a hunk. And for the rival school, very sweet. She enjoyed talking to him. Too bad he was a rival though. With a sigh, she curled her hair, still feeling quite...giddy. Like a little girl with a crush. She passed by an alley way. Out of nowhere, hand grabbed her. One putting a knife to her neck.

"Give me your money." The man's breath smelled of whiskey and booze. It was utterly repulsive. She couldn't think of what to do. Tyler and Mandy had already left to go to his place. One name came to mind. "N-Nathan!" She yelled. Remembering he wasn't too far back. The man pushed the knife closer as Isabelle squirmed. The tears brimming in her eyes as fear took over her.

Once Isabelle headed out, Nathan found himself in a similar situation as several moments ago. He knew that they were to pick Isabelle up, so he suggested that perhaps, they could get in his car. He hated being a passenger, as it felt very limiting to him. After all, what more freedom could one have than to control where the vehicle was going?

"So I was thinking, maybe we should go by my car?"
"No way." Mandy said a chuckle.
"Why not...?"
"I think what Mandy is trying to say here, is that your car is a death trap." Tyler said now in a jokingly manner.
"Besides, you don't want to scare her off just yet." Mandy then added.

"W-what?" Nathan exclaimed.

Soon enough, he found himself in the car, waiting for the beautiful girl to appear. Tyler, or maybe Mandy, had honked the car, startling the young man who was daydreaming. Isabelle went inside, bumping into Nathan. He smiled back at her as they were off. On the way there, he couldn't help but notice how attractive she was. From time to time, his eyes would drift off to her legs, which had this glow. The more and more time would go on by, the more she seemed gorgeous. And with the first impression she had on him, he would have thought that it was impossible.

The diner was pretty uneventful, at first. As Tyler went to sit by Nathan, the young man said "Oh good, does that mean that you two won't be all over each other while we eat?". Both Tyler and Mandy laughed and replied "You make it seem like we're never apart". As the waitress came in waiting for them to order, Isabelle ordered the adult grilled cheese with bacon, to which he responded with a smile and said "I'll have the same."

"Oh god..." Nathan thought, as the two were all over each other once again. He tried to focus his attention elsewhere, as he found their public display of affection to be terribly aggravating. Maybe he was jealous? Who knew, because he certainly didn't. In fact, those thoughts were pushed away as Isabelle and he talked and exchanged glances. From time to time, while they ate, he would slide his hand to hers, as he really got into the conversation and flirting, but also because he loved the way her skin felt. After a bit, they left the dinner and walked home after finishing their meal, as the couple inside were definitely creating a new definition for PDA.

"Good night, take care." Nathan replied happily, before walking away to his place. Hands in his pockets, he began to make his way home, having thoughts about her, up until he heard;

"N-Nathan!"

The young man rushed to the voice, thus bringing him to the alleyway. Heart racing unbelievably, he went to her aid, pulling the man away and punched him in the face. Through the darkness, he couldn't really see how this man looked like. The man passed around the knife between his hands and lunged at Nathan, to which he was able to avoid and hit him once again. And again. However, the third time, he managed to slash Nathans right arm but thankfully, it didn't phase him and was responded to a kick in the stomach and an elbow in the face. Startled and injured, the mugger rushed out of the scene.

"Are you okay?" Nathan asked holding Isabelle in his arms.

He actually came to save her. Eyes widened as she watched the scene in front of her. She gasped as the man slashed his arm. How dare he! Rushing over to him. He enveloped her in his arms. Making her blush. But there were other matters at hand. She checked his arm. Smiling at him and shaking her head. Laughing quietly. "Of course I'm okay..But you aren't..." she whispered. Worried. "Here. Let's go to my house. It isn't too far from here." She grasped his hand. Blushing a bit more. His hand felt warm and secure. As it did during dinner.Getting to her home. She unlocked the door. "Come upstairs and let me wash it out for you." Leading him up the stairs. Isabelle realized they were alone in the house. No. He wouldn't do that to her. They had just met after all...Though... Shaking her head. She examined his slash. Nothing too severe. Though it did need some bandage. Washing it with some soap. Her fingers were light and warm touching his arms. Tender and soft. "Thanks again..." she whispered as she placed the bandage on his arm. Feeling guilty for what had occurred.

You know that love at first sight thing. She knew this wasn't it. Though..she was so drawn to Nathan. They had flirted the whole night. And there they were. alone in her house and in the bathroom. She had gotten so close to his arm that she looked up at they were face to face. Blushing a bit. She smiled sweetly and just as shyly as before. Then looked down. Yeah. She liked him. But God only knew how much the show choir would bag on her for falling for the enemy. Yes his school had a pretty good show choir. Not as good as theirs. But they were close. Their hands touched a bit. But this time. She didn't move it away. Leaning up. Her warm lips pecked his cheek. "Um..Thanks again." She smiled. Then got up and motioned for him to go downstairs. When she walked him outside. She stood under the porch light. "Thanks again for coming. Even if you were dragged. I'm glad I got to meet you." She found herself holding his hand. Getting quiet. Her fingers slowly slid out of his. "I'll..I'll see you sometime. Oh!" Writing something down quickly. She handed him a piece of paper. "Call me." she winked and waved as she watched him leave. Closing upstairs and leaping onto her bed. Yeah. She liked him a lot. A lot of girls wished for that prince or knight to save them. And whisk them off their feet..Well. Nathan did that to her. Hands down. Stripping down and letting her curls down. Isabelle laid in the bed. Eyes looking to the ceiling. And soon. Closing. Thinking about Nathan. And hoping he would call. Screw the rivalry...

The next morning. She awoke a bit late. "Crap! Damn alarm." she mumbled and ran to the shower. Quick in and quick out. Putting on a sun dress. She promised that she would spend time with Mandy. But then she got a text. Tyler was bringing Nathan. Her heart skipped a beat. She would have to look really good now. Curling her hair and putting on some mascara. In the mirror. She made sure her breasts looked perky enough...Well she may be sweet. But she wanted to look. Jaw dropping. Walking to the park. She found Mandy. Whistling when she saw the cute outfit.

"Who are you all dolled up for." Her best friend winked and made her blush. Whispering about Nathan her friend laughed. "I think he his hooked on you too...I'll make sure you two are alone." The two giggled and hugged when the boys showed up. Mandy winked at Isabelle. "Tyler hun~ Let's go over to the ice cream parlor.." She grabbed his hand quickly and waved. Leaving the two alone. Isabelle smiled when he spotted her.

"Hi...Nathan.." she said all too shyly. She was still getting used to having such a big crush on him. "You look handsome." She winked and laughed a bit. "Want to walk with me?" It was the weekend after all.

Nathan couldn't tell if it was the sudden rush of the fight, or the fact that Isabelle was bringing him to her place that was making his heart race. A half smile went across his face as he held her hand, walking together. As they walked in, he noticed that the house was oddly empty. Did she live alone, at her age? As she examined and treated his arm, he smiled, despite the pain of her washing the fresh wound. "Don't mention it." he said softly, happy to see that everything turned out for the best. His heart jumped as her lips just gently kissed his cheek. He cursed himself in his mind for the fact that he was so taken by her. If she were just any beautiful woman, he would have turned his head the moment she leaned over. But here he was, afraid to mess anything up, as if this was his first crush ever.

He went downstairs with her, stopping under the porch light. "I'm glad I met you too. That made the whole dragging thing worth it." he said with a chuckle, before she handed him a piece of paper. With a wink and a wave, she watched him walk home. After about a block, his hands once again in his pocket, he looked upon the horizon and the moonlight. He was, of course, thinking about Isabelle with every step. He glanced at the phone number in his hands and damned his luck. She just had to be from the other school.

He woke up in the morning in a rather good mood, despite Tyler dragging him out again. His best friend was obviously going to bring Mandy, but part of Nathan was wishing for Isabelle coming along, despite not having been told anything. So much so, that he searched high and low for something decent to wear. After all, all the clothes in his dresser were either band t-shirts, ripped pieces of clothing or jerseys. He hated himself for doing it, but he made sure to do a little clothes shopping before meeting Tyler and Mandy. He got home in about an hour before having supposed to meet up with them, taking a quick cold shower, shaving the stubble in his face and putting on cologne, which to anyone who knew Nathan, also knew that it was a rather rare thing. He showed up in a white dress shirt and black pants.

Once there, his heart leaped as he spotted Isabelle in the distance. For the first time in his life, he didn't quite know what to do, especially as Mandy dragged Tyler away, leaving them both alone, obviously on purpose. "You look incredibly hot." he replied with a laugh too. "Sure, I wouldn't mind at all." he added, taking her hand as they walked about. He was keeping the thoughts in his mind, but she looked absolutely drop dead gorgeous. From time to time as they paced, he would glance at her, trying not to allow his eyes to gaze upon every inch of her body. After a while it hit him; "So wait...where are we going exactly?" he said with a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. He was a tad nervous and hoped that she couldn't tell.

It meant a lot to a girl her age when a boy called her. "Hot" Blushing shyly, she moved a piece of her brown hair from her face as she looked down at her painted toes. They were painted champagne pink. As were her somewhat manicured nails. She was quite an anxious person. Especially before a show. Isabelle usually bit her nails clean off. Though with all the money her parents gave her. The girl could get 10 manicures every 2 months. If she wanted. Her mom loved it more then she ever had. Something about people pampering her didn't feel right. Most high end, rich girls would enjoy that. But then again. She never acted like one. Even if she was alone. There was no influence when there was nothing. It was the simple things after all. Snapping back to reality. Isabelle remembered the boy next to her. Sometimes her ADD got the best of her. Though paying attention to him. Was very easy for her. Everything about him kept her attention. The way he dressed. his voice. How handsome he was. And even without knowing him too long. His sweetness. Mandy had gotten some dough for her the other night. (Not that she acquired it) About Nathan. He was single. Into sports. And all the girls had their eye on him. But...Mandy wouldn't tel her what he thought of Isabelle. It worried her. Was she trying to hide the fact..she wasn't his type. As they walked. They talked about anything and everything. Things coming just naturally. and even with some differences. They flirted. Sometimes teased each other in a friendly way. Isabelle protesting how Show choir beat football in all categories. Even if he didn't believe her. When the question of where they were going came up. They were by the river side. Which caught her by surprise as she answered. "I...I have no idea." Giggling in her chime like voice gently. She sat herself down. Legs in an 'L' shape on the grass. The only reason she couldn't read the nervousness of him. Was because, she was nervous herself. Never in her life had she wanted..had she wanted to not make a fool of herself. Or never felt so..shy around another boy. Just like a young school girl crush. she felt that flutter like feeling sitting next to him.

Stretching out her lean legs a bit. She looked up at the sun. It was setting. They had been out there for a while. The lovebirds were probably wondering where the hell they went. But really... Isabelle would rather be here. Alone... ALONE! The sudden realization hit her and she blushed a bit. Putting her hand down. It landed on top of his. Making her blush a cute, light pink shade. Their eyes met and she smiled sweetly. But still very shyly. Though she turned away. Feeling his gaze on her still. This was like a scene from all of those crappy teenage soap operas like Degrassi..or worse. Twilight...But now. She understood why girls got so giddy. Moving a strand of her curly locks behind her ear. Her eyes glanced back at him. Still staring. It took her will power not to lean over and give him a kiss. Like those fairy tales where the princess just kiss the prince. Even without knowing them. Isabelle had always enjoyed the love at first sight thing. But sometimes it was hard to understand. Looking into those deep brown eyes of his. Isabelle..was beginning to understand. Blushing. There was suddenly some magnetic pull between the two of them. Placing her hand on his thigh. Isabelle leaned in. Both closing their eyes. Her other hand gently cupping his face. Their lips brushing. Just that sent sparks through her. About to press her lips to his. She flinched when there was a whistle.

"Ohh la la~ Tyler. I think they got us beat." Mandy's voice rang through her ears. Opening her eyes to meet those deep brown ones again. She suddenly bushed a deep pink. Pushing gently off of him and glaring at Mandy. Who put her hands up innocently as Tyler put his arms around her. Smirking at his best friend. Isabelle placed her fingertips against her lips. She had been..so, so close to kissing him. But their lips had brushed. Enough to send the sparks through her. Did..did it do the same to him? Not able to believe her best friend. She pointed for the other couple to go away. Mandy giggled and rolled her eyes. "Sorry you guys. We will see you at school tomorrow." Both waved and were off. Isabelle suddenly felt the awkward set in. Standing there with her hands behind her back. She hoped she didn't ruin things. "..Nathan..I'm so sorry." She said still looking down. Frightened to see his expression. Was he horrified? Or worse? Disgusted? Still tinted with a pink color. "But. I like you a lot I guess." with a quiet laugh she shook her head. "Though. I don't blame you if you hate my guts. I'm one of them." She meant the rival school. So what if it worked. For Mandy and Tyler...they were lucky. Horrified with herself. With thinking she could actually try to kiss him. And for the fact she did kiss him. What had come over her? Was it the fact she truly did like him. A lot. Then again. Tyler had kissed Mandy the first time. Still ashamed. She turned around and began to walk away.
