Final Award Voting

Voting

Well, it seems to be a 24-hour bug at my place, or else my cookies change every 24 hours, because when I go to check the results of the polling, I, too, have to vote in order to see the chart. I also noticed that people who are on the same network (like on a campus) can't vote if one person from that network has already voted. Pretty wild, if you ask me. To tell you the truth, and I probably shouldn't be telling anyone, but I vote for KillerMuffin... I don't know why, I feel some sort a weird and ALIEN compulsion to be upstanding... but yes I have voted for myself *hangs head in shame*

As I mentioned in another thread I have had the same thing happen... I too, despite having voted, always get told that I haven't voted yet. And I am interested in checking status on occaision (morbid author curiosity here).

Even though Laurel says that duplicate votes will be eliminated it still feels weird and wrong to go in and vote again just to see the results.

FYI Laurel - I use both netscape and IE and have had the same problem. My service provide assigns a new IP address each time I log in (DHCP) - I do have cookies turned on - I would have assumed that the cookie would have kept the status and showed that I had already voted. Perhaps there is something amiss in how your server is assigning cookies?

In any case - its good to know that you are eliminating duplicate votes but there would be a deeper level of comfort if the problem didn't occur in the first place.

Well, I see your story is slowly moving up in the final voting, jennifer. I can't help but wonder how high it might be if it had been included in the voting from the beginning. Still 23 days to go, it might move up even more yet. :)
