Total comfort food. And because it's potato, you can do practically anything with it (add anything to it). I squeezed roasted garlic cloves into mine, stirred freshly grated parmesan through it, and I even drizzled pesto over the top just to make it look purdy :D Not all 3 of those at the same time, however.

Yes indeed...so malleable. I've even added a touch of cayenne to sneak in a hidden snap on the tongue.

Foodie Experts:

I would like to make lasagna...

I have no 9 by 13 pan, and no money to buy one. Can I make it in a square deep casserole dish? How would I adjust the cooking time considering it would then be deeper than a normal one (ie more layers)?

lasagna can be made pretty much in any size pan, I have even made them in aluminun loaf pans to put in the freezer. But basically you need to just keep an eye on it, check the heat of the center at the regular baking time, do this with a knife, if not piping hot, keep checking every 10 minutes.

Thanks!

I so didn't think of that. I have a little loaf pan... hrm... depends on if we want leftovers, I suppose.

Great idea....or get a cheapy aluminum throw-away pan from the grocery store. We're talking 5-6 bucks and you can scrub them out for a few more uses.

A MEGA-fave. I like it peppery.

recently
made
'fridge-outcast soup'

of new potatoes and corn
that had been boiled
in zatarans crab-boil...
(left over from a crawfish suck-down)

with carrots, broccoli, onion, fresh peppers garlic and...
hmmmmm...
what the hell else(?)...
gleened from the
veg drawer...
braised in chixbroth...

then pureed with cream and a tad of butter...

basically a corn/potato... goodness...

overridden
by the crab-boil
spicey...nearly oily
overtone

a different kind of peppery potato soup...

and...
better cold than heated...

(terribly sorry.... the last few posts had me going all proust and whatnot)

If I have to make a special trip to the store to buy the pan, I'm just picking up a family-sized Stouffer's. ;)

Fresh coconut.

I just bought one today. Ulaven drilled a hole for me and hacked it in half. Drank the liquid, now I'm prying fresh pieces off the husk and eating them, bending a spoon in the process.

Yum.

I hate dried coconut or sweetened coconut. I LOVE the fresh stuff.

Making any monkey sounds? I'm sure the youngsters would enjoy that.

If you have a cookie sheet use it to support the bottom.

Thrift stores carry kitchen supplies. I bought a cuisinart food processor for $25.
