Eggs, quiche, that's all out. I need to be able to piss it out, literally. Either way. I have a massive prob. If this peeing diet doesn't work I need major surgery.

PS

NOTHING SPICY! Holy shit that is PAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoah. That sucks. I'm sorry, hon. Best wishes, really.

You can just take out the spicy stuff. Butternut squash and honey. Chicken broth without the chili. Make the purees soups, though, not just a different kind of mashed potato. Butternut squash and beets are my two faves for that. Cream of mushroom soup. You can use some dried porcinis and/or morels to amp up the flavor of, say, some button mushrooms. Also, cream of broccoli, cream of spinach, broccoli and cheddar with a little bacon...

Hell, make a ham stock and use that as a base for soup. Just takes a few ham hocks and some veggies.

I got a lot of that stuff...plus reduced fat cream of whatever soups.

This is going to be rough. Not being able to BITE into something for a month is going to be tough!!

It sounds terrible. Hope everything works out ok for you, sans surgery.

But, with a variety of smoothies and soups, at least your taste buds won't get bored. It really will be a missing texture thing.

Oh, Very Important! Be sure to strain any and all pureed soups, otherwise you will get some veg particles and fiber in there. Which, of course, can lead to, ya know, something other than peeing.

Also, you can buy, say, shrimp base and make bisque.

How bought lobster bisque?

you guys are going to hate me. those noxious allium things (ramps and field garlic) grow wild here. we have a lot more field garlic than ramps, but they're here as well if you look for them. in the early spring, the breath of the horses makes you turn your head, since they graze on them. it's considered an invasive/noxious weed since it makes meat and milk taste bad. if i mow or bushhog i have to take a shower right away as i stink from them.

locals eat ramps with pokeweed.

The man made three kinds of quiche for Mother's Day.

Stinky girl.

Yes, I hate you so bad that I want to come and abuse your wood pizza oven, making ramp, potato, and goat cheese pizzas for the whole gang.

Question

Question:

I want to boil these dandilion greens in salted water to cut the bitterness, then wring them out and sautee them in pancetta fat.

But how long do I boil for? 10 min?

best luck here
with two or more
separate boils,
pouring off the water... and bitterness
each time...

depending on size of greens...
2-4 minutes
each boil
and...

if you have a salad spinner...

dry them each time.

though a bit labor intensive,
they should be...

worth the work.

pancetta fat..... nice.

Mental Note - dumbass, if you nuke a day old Krispy Kreme, Check the damned temperature BEFORE you chomp on the damned thing! You are NOT a starfish! Lips and palette do NOT regenerate!
FUCKING OUCH DAMMIT

I'm pro-bitterness in my greens, but drown's advice looks to be most excellent for minimizing it. Another trick would be to squeeze just a few ounces of lemon juice at the end of your saute.

Acid zen.

...and yeah.

we've had the greens banter before.

dig da bittah
here, me...

there is also a sweetness
that can be achieved
with onion
and/or
certain fats
or vinegar/citrus/acids
used in final prep.

damn!!!
spring greenses!

you can leach the bitter
or let the bitter work for you

Thanks drown. Glad I asked cause I was gonna boil them about 20 minutes.

Me thinks I will use this hippie cider vinegar for my acid. It's full of floating particles and very delicious. I often drink it right out of the bottle.

Hippie vinegar would be quite tasty, and it'll make nice-nice with the pancetta. Touch of sweet with the acid.
