In Paintshop Pro, I selected the teardrop shape with the freehand selection tool (I also tried the regular selection tool with pentagon and oval shaped selections) I also set the "feather selection" to feather ten pixels either side of the selection line so it wasn't a sharp divide.

(Right click on the regular selction tool icon to get the various shapes youcan use and set the feathering.)

Then I inverted the selection and adjusted the gamma correction to 4.00 to give it the washed out effect. I also tried the a few of the various other filters and color correction options but the gamma correction trick seems to work the best.

That's just a quick and dirty method of approximating the effect you want, but I could't easily find a way to do it with IrFanview.

Now that this has gone semi-public, You'll probably get a few other suggestions on how to achive that effect with other programs, too.

Oh! *blushing... I've never gone semi-public before!

lol

TY, WH... This comp has Photo Studio 2000 on it- I'll go see what I can do there...
