What I would prefer is that the Russian nation breaks its habit of lurching from one tyranny to another and adopts a democratic government that respects open political debate.

What's going to happen is the Russian Federation will be destroyed. It's the world's biggest colonial empire (the others are China, which won't break up, largely because the countries they have occupied (Xinjiang and Tibet) have been overwhelmed by Chinese settlers to the extent that the native people are now a minority and that is irreversible. The other is the Javanese Empire, aka Indoneasia, which may or may not disintegrated at some point). Anyhow, the Russian Federation is now doomed. Ukraine can only win by destroying Russia, and they are - it'll be an econimic collapse which will lead to a military defeat and withdrawal from Ukraine, and the colonial parts of the Federation breakimg away,
