The British Mastiff armored vehicle in Ukraine

“For more than two years, I’ve been blown up countless times, and I’m still alive.”

This is how Red, a driver-mechanic of the 37th Marine Brigade, briefly described the survivability of the British Mastiff armored vehicle. Straight from the factory, this vehicle comes equipped with a “barbecue cage” that can withstand hits from handheld anti-tank grenade launchers and FPV drones.

Mastiff has repeatedly proven its survivability on the battlefield — it kept moving even after detonating anti-tank mines. The vehicle’s wheels have run-flat inserts that allow it to drive for another 30 kilometers. The soldiers told Captain-Lieutenant Vitalii Pikul that the armored vehicle evacuated the assault team even with all wheels damaged.

The Oshkosh armored vehicle in Ukraine

«The rear wheel was torn off, and only the rim was left on the front one — but we still made it.»

Fighters of the 37th Marine Brigade explained why the American Oshkosh armored vehicle has almost no downsides. This vehicle was designed with the experience of the war in Afghanistan in mind, as a replacement for the legendary Humvee. The Oshkosh received better protection against mines, small arms, and grenade launchers.

According to Krava, a marine from the 37th Brigade, despite the fact that the armored vehicle was developed back in 2009, today it handles drone strikes well — you can barely feel them.

DITCHES of DEATH at Pokrovsk… Ukraine ANNIHILATES Russia’s Assault Waves

Russia claimed Pokrovsk had fallen—but the battlefield tells a very different story. Ukraine is not only holding the line but shredding wave after wave of Russian assaults, turning the city into a nightmare Putin can’t spin away. From failed mechanized pushes to collapsing offensives and reclaimed ground, Pokrovsk is exposing the cracks in Russia’s war machine. Ukraine’s defenders continue to outsmart and outfight overwhelming numbers. And what comes next may surprise everyone…

‘Reality speaks for itself’ — From war-torn Kupiansk, Zelensky praises troops after reports of successful Ukrainian counterattack

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Dec. 12 recorded a video from Kupiansk, one of the hottest parts of the frontline, in which he praised Ukrainian troops fighting in the city.

The front line visit comes as Ukraine’s National Guard said its 2nd Khartiia Corps carried out a successful counterattack north of Kupiansk, a development that flatly contradicts Russia's recent claims of capturing the city. "The Russians kept going on about Kupyansk – the reality speaks for itself. I visited our troops and congratulated them. Thank you to each and every warrior! I am proud of you! And I thank all of our Land Forces – today is your day!" Zelensky said in a message posted to X accompanying the video, in which he stands in front of the bullet riddled sign marking the entrance to the city, surrounded by anti-drone nets.

He added that Ukraine’s diplomatic leverage depends on holding strong positions on the battlefield. "Today, it's extremely important to achieve results on the front so that Ukraine can achieve results in diplomacy. That's how it works: all our strong positions within the country - strong positions in the conversation about ending the war. Thank you to every soldier. I'm proud of you. Thank you to all our Land Forces - today is exclusively your day. Thank you, guys," he said.

On Nov. 20, Russia’s chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said Russia had captured Kupiansk, a claim that Ukraine’s Armed Forces refuted. Reportedly, the latest Trump peace plan envisions a possible land swap in which Russia would trade the relatively small areas it controls in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy oblasts for Ukrainian-held parts of the Donbas.

In a Dec. 12 press release, the 2nd Khartiia Corps said it had spearheaded a counterattack in Kupiansk after the situation there became critical in September. It said units in its "Search and Strike Group” reached the Oskil River north of the city, “completely blocking the land routes" for Russian forces to approach Kupiansk. The corps added the group also liberated the villages of Kindrashivka and Radkivka and surrounding areas.

Disaster for Rus Army in Kupiansk and Pokrovsk | One more Oil Tanker hit

Shippers can not sustain the cost of this - no insurance coverage and ship a complete loss. These are older ships and its not econmic to replace the engines and repair - that's an enormouc cost.

Russian Navy cannot protect these ships - they will be sunk as well.

Essentially the Black Sea is now closed off to Russian oil exports.

Kremlin and White House Pushing Ukraine Toward Capitulation?

Over the past day, reporting and diplomatic signals suggest that both Moscow and Washington are pushing Ukraine toward accepting a ceasefire arrangement that carries the fingerprints of capitulation. The Kremlin continues escalating its rhetoric, implying that Ukraine must concede territory for “peace,” while U.S. officials have circulated trial balloons about “pragmatic reevaluations” of long-term support. Kyiv sees this as coordinated pressure — whether intentional or not — that narrows the political and military space Ukraine needs to maneuver.

Diplomatically, Zelensky is signaling that Ukraine will not accept any settlement that leaves Russia in control of occupied territories. Meanwhile, Russian officials spent the day framing Ukraine as isolated and weakened, attempting to shape global perception that Kyiv is on the brink of accepting unfavorable terms.

The core tension:
Russia wants capitulation; the U.S. wants stability; Ukraine wants sovereignty — and those three goals do not overlap.
That’s why this moment matters so much.

Russia want Ukraine's capitulation. They won't budge. Trump is doing what he's told and pushing forUkrainian capitulation.

Ruzzians Made a Grave Mistake in Pokrovsk | Elite Forces Lost

I read a report that Ukraine used cluster munitions on the massed Russian convoy and elite Russian unit.

Let that ^ sink in:

Recently, we usually hear about FPV drone strikes on individual Russian targets due to the small infiltration groups, but as Russia becomes more desperate to gain ground before their economy collapses, they seem to be trying larger assaults: Enter - the cluster munitions that Ukraine has been holding in reserve.

That ^ may explain the recent uptick in casualties being reported. As Russia masses / concentrates its forces for larger assaults, Ukrainian artillery (especially HIMARS / ATACMS with cluster munitions) can be utilized efficiently / effectively. Even standard artillery that Ukraine has recently been able to match the Russians on can be more efficient / effective when Russia masses / concentrates its forces. It seems things are only getting / going to get worse for the Russians.

👍

Slava Ukraini!!!

Well they did also say they'd massed 150,000 zombies for the Pokrovsk attack. They'd been moving units there from everywhere and some of them have been taking big hits. If they think the ZSU is under pressure, it' fit their doctrine to try mass attacks again - and the ZSU would certainly take advantage of that.

Nagyar's Birds smoked 576 orcs in one day - just ONE drone brigade! That's a third of all smoked Russians, smoked by ONE drone brigade. Ukraine needs more units like this!!!!

Ukrainian drones wipe out Russian manpower equivalent to two battalions in 48 hours, commander says

Ukraine’s drone forces say their kill count hit 976 soldiers in just two days — and the pressure is still rising. Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) say they destroyed Russian infantry numbers equivalent to two battalions in just two days in Donetsk Oblast The figures were reported by SBS commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi in public posts on social media. Most of the losses occurred in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have been trying to seize the remaining territory for months.

Brovdi reported that SBS drone units struck about 505 Russian infantrymen on 11 December alone. Alongside the dedicated drone forces branch, the Ukrainian army and special services have their own drone units. The drone force commander said these losses were inflicted only by external SBS drone pilots and did not include the actions of other Ukrainian Defense Forces units. He added that the Phoenix unit within the SBS grouping accounted for 109 of those Russian losses during the same day. A day earlier, on 10 December, Brovdi reported that SBS drones hit another 471 Russian infantrymen. He said this figure also corresponds to the combat strength of a battalion. Militarnyi notes that combined losses over 10 and 11 December amount to the equivalent of two battalions, based solely on SBS operations.

Russia's 76th Guards Air Assault Division, redeployed in Donetsk Oblast, reportedly suffered the heaviest losses under Ukrainian drone strikes, according to SBS commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi. Russian forces concentrated in this sector also attempted a mechanized assault near Pokrovsk. On 10 December, Ukrainian troops repelled a Russian mechanized assault, conducted by the 76th Division. The attack began in the morning, with Russian troops attempting to exploit poor weather conditions to advance toward Pokrovsk. The mechanized columns advanced from the south toward the northern outskirts of the city, where Ukrainian troops were destroyed most of the Russian equipment and troops. According to Brovdi, SBS data show an average of 282 Russian soldiers hit per day in November, rising to 395 per day during the first 11 days of December. He said the elimination of Russian manpower is now a priority task for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Ukraine Trapped Russian Army in Kupiansk

Putin is NOT winning. He said Russia had captured Kupiansk and occupied it. Zelensky just showed up there and videoed himself. Russian troops are cut off, settlements liberated from the occupiers.

Big slap in the face for Putin and Trump.

Putin's Propaganda Machine Implodes As Ukraine Takes Ground

Ukraine’s battlefield reality is cutting straight through another Kremlin propaganda blitz.

The ZSU has liquidated Russia's "elite" 76th Air Assault Division - the Russian equivalent of the 101st Airborne. Gone. Smoked. Eliminated.

As Russian state media claimed momentum, Ukrainian forces pushed forward, retaking territory around Kupiansk and inflicting heavy losses on Russian units. Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces continue to set records, destroying more Russian aircraft and forcing repeated airport shutdowns deep inside Russia.

Ukraine is also expanding its strikes against Russia’s energy lifeline. Refineries are again under attack, and for the first time Ukrainian forces are hitting oil drilling infrastructure in the Caspian Sea, moving beyond pipelines and refineries to the source itself. This comes as Russia’s economy continues to spiral, with unsellable Russian oil piling up in tankers amid a worsening global glut.

Inside Russia, pressure is rising. Protests are spreading, nearly 40 percent of Russians struggle to afford food, and prominent voices now warn the country is sliding into dependence on China. Even cultural figures once silent are openly accusing Putin of turning Russia into North Korea.

On the ground and at home, facts are replacing fiction. Ukraine is advancing — and the Kremlin’s narrative is collapsing.

ZELENSKYY IN KUPIANSK, PUTIN IN BUNKER

Russia loses control over Black and Caspian seas: AN-26 military cargo plane, two radio location systems destroyed in Crimea; two military cargo vessels, sanctioned by the USA, targeted in the Caspian. Yaroslavl oil refinery destroyed. Zelenskyy visits the frontlines, putin hides in the bunkers.

Kupyansk Liberated? This Changes Everything for Russia

Kupyansk Liberated? This Changes Everything for Russia — and not just on the map. Greg Terry and I break down why the fight over Kupyansk strikes at the heart of Moscow’s inevitability narrative: the idea that time, manpower, and attrition guarantee a Russian victory no matter what Ukraine does.

We walk through why Kupyansk matters operationally, how its potential liberation disrupts Russia’s northern logistics and defensive assumptions, and—most importantly—why this moment exposes the fragility of the “Ukraine will eventually lose” storyline that has been used to justify endless pressure for concessions. If inevitability collapses, so does Russia’s leverage.

This isn’t hype. It’s about narrative warfare colliding with battlefield reality—and why Kupyansk may mark the moment those two finally diverged.
