For Those Who Might Be Wondering Why We Might Be In Ukraine

It is what it is Laz. Putin wasn’t swayed by Hillary’s cute little reset button and he observed how meaningless Obama’s red lines were, so he took Crimea. When Obama’s joke of a vice president ascended to the Oval Office, he saw the opportunity to invade Ukraine.

Biden, who was by that time a feeble old man with dementia and barely able to work three hours a day, dithered in the early stages of the invasion. Ukraine stunned the world with its valiant response, and there was legitimate reason to believe a swift victory was possible. That hope is gone.

There war in Ukraine is now a war of attrition. There will either be a negotiated settlement, or a surrender. At the moment, neither outcome looks imminent.

🙄

BabyBoobs (a POS MAGAt and a supporter of DonOld “the traitor” Trump aka Putin’s puppet) demonstrates that they know NOTHING about the circumstances involving Ukraine over the past twelve years, NOR the wildly varying conditions President Obama & President Biden faced after being left a flaming bag of shit - internationally AND domestically - by their respective predecessors (See: The Iraq / Afghanistan quagmire & the financial crisis that President Obama inherited from Shrub Bush & the old GOP, and the Afghanistan / Iran crisis & the Covid crisis that President Biden inherited from DonOld & the MAGAt republicans).

😳

President Obama & President Biden acquitted themselves admirably on all counts in regard to international AND domestic policy.

👍

They were unable to succeed even more impressively due to SABOTAGE from the obstructionist Bush/Obama era GOP and DonOld & the MAGAt republicans.

True
Biden, who was by that time a feeble old man with dementia and barely able to work three hours a day, dithered in the early stages of the invasion. Ukraine stunned the world with its valiant response, and there was legitimate reason to believe a swift victory was possible. That hope is gone.
Truer. Too little, too late. MInd you, Ukraine surprised everyone, but Biden was far too parsimonious with the Bradley's and the artillery and the F16's early on when it would have done the most good.

Likewise the A10's and the Blackhawks and the HIMARS and the Patriot systems.....

There war in Ukraine is now a war of attrition. There will either be a negotiated settlement, or a surrender. At the moment, neither outcome looks imminent.

It's not really a war of attrition, or if there is, it's one way, with Ukraine fighting a war designed to attrite Russian manpower while they break the back of Russia's economy and their military inustrial complex, such as remains. The Russian oil industry is obviously the BIG target here, and Russia's ability to export oil is being majorly curtailed to the extent that any exports will soon by non-esistent, and their cost of producing what they can will exceed the foreign exchange earned.

The EU's arrangement to fund Ukraine for the next two years means Ukraine can continue fighting thru 2026 and 2027, all while they continue to gain strength - militarily and their defense industrial complex, which will be a major export earner after the war. Ukraine still has large reserves of untapped manpower - they only conscript after age 25 - and that's a big pool of 18-25 year olds to draw on. Their drone units are taking on more and more of the actual killing, and Ukrainian women are joining the drone units in large numbers - it doesn't require the physical strength that many of the traditional combat units do - and this is something other militaries can learn from - that adds a huge pool of combat resourcs that is seriously untapped.

Ukraine no longer needs the USA, altho we are nice to have - but at this point, Trump holds no real cards except his ability to pressure Russia, or not. Europe and Ukraine are of course well aware that Trump is actively working against them and that Trump is doing his best to help Putin, but Putin here is his own worst enemy. I doubt he actually realizes how bad the damage is that Russia is taking - and he won;t have a clue until Russia and the Russian military collapse. He's likely being fed bullshit - nobody enjoys taking a lead pill for telling the truth, so why would they?

Nope, the USA no longer has leverage on Ukraine, and Putin has said time and time again he will accept nothing less than his original demands. He will talk talk talk forever to stall Trump from actually doing anything, not that Trump actually wants anything except a so-called peace so he can look good to somene, god knows who, because a lot of those who believed his Ukraine bullshit are walking away from him anyhow over Epstein and other issues. So the war will go on, there will be no negotiated settlement and no Ukrainian surrender. Trump will look foolish (well, he does now so no big difference). Things will continue to get worse for Russia with more and more Russian soldiers killed, more Ukrainian missiles raining down on Russian targets, more and more of the Russian economy destroyed until Russia has another Bolshevik moment (Russia always does), the military collapses, interna fighting breaks out, the Russian Federation collapses and the ZSU act decisively to establish a Greater Ukraine.

Becoming more and more evident, but one suspects agaun that he is way overestimating the Russian military at this point.

China Claims Russia's Territory

Russia’s so-called “no-limits partnership” with China is collapsing under the weight of fear, history, and strategic reality. In this video, we break down a shocking leaked FSB report that reveals Beijing is officially viewed as an enemy inside Russia’s own security apparatus. While Putin publicly embraces Xi Jinping and presents China as Russia’s closest ally, the Kremlin is privately panicking over the possibility that China may one day reclaim territories it lost to the Russian Empire in the 19th century — including Vladivostok and large parts of the Russian Far East. According to the FSB, China is actively promoting historical narratives about “stolen land,” renaming Russian cities on official Chinese maps, expanding intelligence activity inside Russia, infiltrating universities, studying Arctic routes, and quietly building long-term leverage along a massive, poorly defended border.

The video explains why Russia’s war in Ukraine dramatically accelerated this shift in power. Isolated by sanctions, weakened economically, bleeding militarily, and increasingly dependent on China for trade, energy exports, currency stability, and diplomatic cover, Moscow has lost the ability to act as an equal partner. China, meanwhile, has become the dominant force across Central Asia, the Arctic, the Russian Far East, and even Russia’s own financial system, where the yuan is replacing the ruble. This isn’t about mass Chinese migration or tanks crossing borders — it’s about economic domination, strategic dependency, and influence replacing sovereignty without a single shot fired.

We also explore the deep historical roots of this tension, from the Treaty of Aigun and the Convention of Peking to modern Chinese claims over Outer Manchuria, and why Beijing’s long memory now terrifies the Kremlin. If Russia justifies its invasion of Ukraine using “historical borders,” what stops China from applying the same logic to Vladivostok? The FSB leak reads less like intelligence analysis and more like a confession: Russia fears China more than NATO, more than the US, and more than Ukraine. As Russia weakens, China advances — patiently, strategically, and without urgency. This is the story of an empire that overreached, isolated itself, and now risks watching its own borders become negotiable.

Trump keeps accepting Putin’s ‘maximalist demands’ as talks go in circles

“We have the same problem that we always have.”

Trump’s talks with Putin risk repeating the same pattern, where the Kremlin makes “maximalist demands” and Washington accepts them before Europe and Ukraine get the chance to push back.

Magyars are Hungarian, not Ukrainian.

And "Magyar" IS ethnically Hungarian, but a Ukrainian citizen. There is a large Hungarian ethnic minority in western Ukraine (just as there is in Romania, a hangover I think from the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian empire at the end of WW2.

Robert Yosypovych Brovdi, commonly known by his call sign Madyar (Magyar, lit. 'Hungarian') is a Ukrainian soldier, politician, and businessman who is the founder of the Ukrainian military drone unit "Madyar's Birds". Brovdi was born in the Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod, located in the far west of Ukraine near the Hungary–Ukraine border. His ethnicity is from the Hungarian minority in the region, which was the inspiration for his military nickname. He attended Uzhhorod National University.

In February 2022, shortly before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Brovdi joined the Territorial Defence Forces of Ukraine, where he was assigned to the 206th Battalion of the 241st Brigade. During the Kyiv offensive, he took part in the evacuation of civilians from Irpin during the battle for the city, and took part in fighting in Bucha and Borodianka. In late April, his unit was sent to the frontline in the Kherson area of the southern campaign. After some time, Brovdi decided that he could be doing more with his entrepreneurial skills instead of "sitting in a sodden trench". Against bureaucratic procedure, he raised funds on his own to buy a "fleet of drones", with which he set up the aerial reconnaissance unit "Madyar's Birds".

The unit was a part of the 28th Mechanized Brigade from April to August 2022. The unit is composed of "a few dozen" pilots, with hundreds of drones. Like much of the Ukrainian army, the drones used by the unit are the Chinese-made civilian DJI Mavics. The unit is involved in five primary types of drone reconnaissance: locating enemy forces, patrolling the frontline, artillery spotting, attacks with kamikaze drones, and occasionally dropping explosive devices on enemy soldiers. Madyar's Birds were incorporated into the 59th Motorized Brigade in August 2022, and took part in the battle of Bakhmut until March 2023, when Brovdi said in a video posted to social media that the unit had been ordered to withdraw after "110 days" of fighting.

Madyar's Birds often releases videos of their "greatest successes" on the battlefield, which feature Russian soldiers dying, which journalists have described as having "undoubtable propaganda value". Brovdi has become a popular figure in Ukraine among "war-watchers" on social media for his "salty analogies and metaphors shrouded in black humor" and "colorful western Ukrainianisms" in his narration of videos he publishes of his unit's activities. Brovdi was awarded the medal "For the Defense of Ukraine" by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on 28 August 2023 and the Hero of Ukraine on 8 May 2025.

The Madyar's Birds unit has been taking part in the fighting in and around Krynky since at least November 2023.[23] On 16 January 2024, Brovdi announced on his Telegram channel that Madyar's Birds had been incorporated into the Ukrainian Marine Corps as the 414th Marine Strike UAV Battalion.

Brovdi was appointed commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces on 3 June 2025.

Is there any reliable and objective source who can give us some realistic estimate of who is winning this war?

It sometimes seems like posters in this thread are describing two completely different wars, depending on who they want to win.

Not in the legacy Western media, who are in the business of protecting the corrupt Obama/Biden era globalism that fueled this war. The map is the ultimate referee; wars are decided by territory, manpower, logistics, and industrial capacity. Using those metrics, the following are true: Russia absorbed sanctions and mobilized industry, Ukraine became increasingly dependent on external support, western aid fluctuated with politics, and manpower shortages became acute for Ukraine; none of this fits the triumphalist storyline, but all of it fits the map. Look at the map.

Western media misframed events for political purposes. Tactical Ukrainian successes were presented as strategic turning points, Russian withdrawals were framed as collapse, instead of tactical retreats, and the media minimized or ignored Ukrainian losses. Time horizons and expectations were constantly reset: “Just one more aid package", "just a few F-16s", “just one more offensive”, "just another 100 billion". This created the illusion of momentum without delivering results on the ground. It swallowed the truth.

OK, we now know anything you have to say about this should be dismissed with contempt immediately. Not even Pat Buchanan could be that wrong.

False.

This ^ has been explained to you previously, but I’m not searching for the post that refuted your assertions. Suffice to say: Whatever President Biden did seemed to work, as Ukraine is on the verge of defeating Russia DESPITE the SABOTAGE of U.S. aid to Ukraine, ETC, by DonOld & the MAGAt republicans. President Biden established a coalition of the willing, expanded NATO, and set up the information sharing and logistics to support Ukraine’s war effort that CONTINUE to contribute to Ukrainian successes on the battlefield, etc - WITHOUT directly involving U.S. forces in Ukraine, and WITHOUT provoking some uncontrollable escalation (and WITHOUT giving Putin any legitimate talking points about a direct threat from the U.S. & NATO).

Hope that ^ helps.

Show me where I'm wrong.
Every single thing having to do with the "Western legacy media." Any bias there is RW, not LW -- remember who owns those corporations! And there is nothing corrupt about globalism, which is always better than nationalism.

Another solid update from Denys:

Russia just lost access to the sea

Russia is facing a very real risk of losing its access to the sea.

With another Russian ship hit in the Mediterranean, this isn’t just symbolic anymore. It’s structural. Ports, shipping routes, insurance, fleets, all of it is under pressure in a way we simply haven’t seen before in this war.

This video is about what that actually means, why it matters, and why this moment feels different from anything we’ve seen over the last year.

Russian general killed: Moscow grows increasingly dangerous for Putin's elite

“Russia has, as we’ve noticed, become a very dangerous place for Moscow’s own business elite.”

The death of a Russian general in a car bombing in Moscow displays just how precarious the city has become for the Russian elite, says Nina Dos Santos.
