This is a closed thread for Rahyne and C G Raven read along and enjoy.
The Cornish coast lay low on the horizon shrouded by the early morning mist. The Captain piloted his vessel carefully for this coast was notorious for it shoals and unseen rock panicles that had sent many a ship to its death. Again he muttered a curse, why had he come this far, passed the pillars of Hercules, out into the endless sea that stretched to the end of the world, Why. He had asked that question a thousand times and the answer was simply Profit.
Europe had been cut off from the spice trade by the conquest of Jerusalem and The Holy land. North African moors had flooded into the Iberian peninsular making the inland sea their lake. Only The Venusians held sway in the Aegean and they controlled what little was left of the spice trade with Byzantium. Yet this son of the Barbary coast could smell profit an knew that his cargo of pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and salt would be worth a kings ransom in the isles of the Britons, and he had been correct. Yet as good as the profit was a ship with and empty hold made no Profit . That was something he was now bound to rectify .
In the eyes of the ship the lead’s man called out the soundings in the age all sing song cadence of the ancient mariner. The Captain kept a firm hand on the ships tiller as he heard the soundings called out in a hushed but anxious voice. The dragons teeth were rapidly rising, perhaps to claim yet another victim. The men gripped their weapons, their eyes wide with fear, as each prayed to his god. Then the soundings started to change again until the lead’s men called no bottom. They were safe passed, the teeth of the dragon, now to collect their cargo.

The Augustinian convent lay on a small Island off the Cornish coast shrouded in the early morning mist. The channel that lay between convent and the mainland protected the nuns, their postulants, and novices from roving marauders, and the dragons teeth protected them from Sea Rovers. They would soon learn the folly of trusting to nature to protect them from the evil of man.
Their’s was a life of prayer, solitude, meditation, and devotion to their god. That was until the Captain and his crew descended on the Convent of St Mary Magdalene with shield and scimitar in hand. The older nuns were slaughtered out of hand it was the younger nuns, the novices, and postulants that were his goal for their youth and beauty would bring the highest prices. Those that were not taken well the dead tell no tales. The convent was laying in ruins as the Captain and first mate made on more sweep to see if all of worth had been taken It was then that he caught from the corner of his eyes a movement in the shadow of the nave. He pulled back the discarded alter cloth and stared down into an young angelic face the girl’s eyes wide with horror. His dark swarthy complexion in mark contrast to her alabaster perfection.
“ Mustafa look what we have here.”
The Captain hand closed around the girl’s veil as she attempted to flee.
"Come here my little dove..... I have plans for you!"
He swung the young Novice into his arms and his mouth crushed to hers in a forbidden kiss.
