Frosthold-The Sanguine King

Forgall and Cahir whipped out whetstones from their belts and sat down and sharpened their weapons. When the warrior woman had made her report to their chief. Cahir rose and asked Hrist "My father outlawed slavery, how do these people still make their living?"

Verdandi pushed aside her graying hair and looked through the bag she was carrying then offered Ty some water. Verdandi looked up and notice the look on Ty's face and said,

"Her death is nothing to be ashamed of. When the Goddess wants you, then she will have you regardless of the actions you take."

Verdandi looked at the girl and smiled. Slowly her smile faded and her eyes went glossy. She looked through Ty then shook her head and started laughing.

"The Goddess does have a sense of humor. You are to stay with Hrist."

She continued chuckling and slowly got to her feet.

"My father outlawed slavery, how do these people still make their living?"[/QUOTE]

Keeping an eye on the elven girl, Hrist said to Cahir,

"Your father doesn't control everything. I don't know where they came from but they have been moving fast to the west. We have only been tracking them for a couple of days and wouldn't have even known about them if it hadn't been for the elves. My tribe usually keeps to themselves"
, Hrist grinned and continued, "except for the occational raid".

Hrist took a drink of water and looked at the packet that Reginleif had handed her before going to carry out orders.

Ty watched as the elser woman offered her some water. Thirsty and anxious, she leaned forward and opened her mouth. She watched and waited for the woman to pour the water into her mouth as she was trained to only accept food and drink given to her by her Master or Mistress.

As she waited, Ty noticed that the elder's eyes went blank, however before Ty could say anything to the elder, the elder started to laugh and mentioned that Ty would be staying with Hrist. Ty's heart lept at the fact that she would have an owner, however she didn't know what her life would be like.

Verdandi got up and noticed that Ty was waiting for her to pour the water. Verdandi poured the water in the girls mouth and started cackling again.

"I wish I could go with you and Hrist, having you two together should be...um...interesting. Hrist has been getting more disconnected from everyone, you will be good for her. Shake her up a bit. But I wouldn't take bets on trying to choose who will have a harder time with this."

Verdandi continued cackling and said, "We should go back and tell Hrist the good news."

Ty marveled at the elder before her and took the water that was offered her greedily as she had nothing it drink in some time. After settling herself back on her heels, she tilted her head and listened to the Elder as she talked about Hrist.

"I hope that I will be a help to Mistress Hrist, Mistress."

When Verdandi started to move to find Hrist, Ty quickly got to her feet and fell in behind the elder, always keeping three feet away from the woman and slightly off to her left. Ty's mind raced as they walked. She had a new Mistress it seemed thoigh she ws never collared by the woman, but the elder seemed to know something that Ty did not.

"I'm sure you will help her." Verdandi said, "Just keep in mind that Hrist hasn't had contact with slaves, like you, and doesn't understand the training that you have gone through. I'm not sure how much you know about us, Ty. But keep in mind that it is against what we believe to keep anyone as a slave. So go easy on Hrist and don't take it personally if she doesn't understand you."

Verdandi could see across the field, Hrist talking with the two strange men. The field was buzzing with activity some warriors were gathering up the remaining slaves and others were digging a large pit to throw the bodies of the slavers. Verdandi turned back to watch Hrist as Reginleif ran back to her. Hrist got up and walked over to the group of assembled slaves as Reginleif picked up a shield and started banging her sword against it. The resulting noise caused everyone to look her way and to be silent.

"We are the warriors of Lough Orainn. I know you are scared and your world has been turned inside out." Hrist told the slaves, "I'm going to give you the option of deciding your own fate. You may choose to be taken home with an armed escort or you may decide to join our tribe and take charge of what happens to you. You can go home and continue being a slave or join us and be free. We will be leaving in one hour. That leaves you one hour to decide which wagon to be on and what you want your life to be."

Hrist turned and walked away from them and Reginleif caught up to her. Hrist sat down with Cahir and Forgall and asked, "So what is a member of the royal family and his nursemaid doing out here, by themselves. Besides running to the rescue."

"Show Forgall respect woman." Cahir said rage flashing across his eyes. "He is a warchief of the Fianna, and one of the Seven Dragons. "He has slain more men in battle, then you have ever encountered." Forgall said nothing but looked on. Cahir continued "I am on a quest ordered by the goddess Danu, and we were passing by."

Hrist looked at Forgall while the prince raged on. When Cahir was finished Hrist ignored him and grinned at Forgall, "You are quite the nursemaid but you need to teach your charge how to control his temper. No offence was intended, in fact, I am in your debt and will honor it."

Verdandi walked up and had caught Cahir's outburst and said,

"You will have to forgive Hrist. She was groomed by our last leader and ended up passing on her distaste for the royal family. You spoke of Danu. What was the quest she gave you?"

"Very well" Cahir said. "We are commissioned by Danu to raise an army. She says she will aid us in battle against the Sanguine King. We first must gather this army, then retrieve some powerful divine swords, then slay the Sanguine King."

After Cahir was finished Reginleif asked, "Who is the Sanguine King? And I hope that you two aren't all that you have for an army."

"He is a demon lord, of terrible power, he rules over the fell creatures of the world and is the source of much of Frostholds turmoil." Cahir said "And as of right now, we are the only army we have, we are on our way to Arkand to the kingdom of the High Orcs, to gain their aid.

Reginleif looked over at Verdandi and tried to judge what her response was but she was looking at Forgall. Reginleif hadn't noticed when Verdandi walked up but saw that a cat girl was sitting just behind her."That's quite the quest. What are the divine swords?" Reginleif asked Cahir.

"The Divine Swords are also called the Swords of World's End." Cahir said. "Their are three of them, Ragnarok, Armageddon, and Apocalypse are their names. Supposedly, we use them to unchain Fenris, the celestial wolf, who will devour the Mourning Moon, which is where the Sanguine King draws his black magic from." Cahir said "In his weakened state, we will be able to kill the Sanguine King"

Hrist listened, facinated by the swords. "The Goddess isn't asking for much this time is she. Why aren't your own people helping?"

Reginleif looked back at Verdandi and said, "I'm sorry but curiosity is killing me, wize one, but who is your new friend."

Verdandi had recognized a necklace around Forgall's neck and was remembering everything that it stood for and what it would effect now until Reginleif asked her the question. She looked over at Hrist and casually said, "This is Ty. But she isn't mine, she's Hrist's."

Hrist stopped talking as she caught the last bit of Reginleif's and Verdandi's conversation. Her jaw dropped and looked to see if the elder was joking and said, "By the Goddess, she is not."

"Actually, funny thing, by the Goddess she is."
came the reply from Verdandi.

Reginleif started laughing after seeing the look on Hrist's face. Hrist stood up and said, "Be serious, madam, she has the choice just like everyone else. She can go home or become one of us. She doesn't belong to anyone, least of all me."

"They won't help because as far as they are concerned, I am dead." Cahir said "My father disowned me for rebelling against my Half Brother. He is the heir to the throne and he is a cruel heartless man, whose only love is killing. My father refuses to see this, and so i was banished."

Hrist looked over at Cahir and back at Verdandi and the cat girl. She glared at all of them, feeling pulled in too many directions she turned and walked away.

"Hrist!" Reginleif yelled but was ignored.

Verdandi watched the girl leave and turned back to Cahir and said, "You cannot go to the orc's with just the two of you. We are all connected and what happens to one group effects the others. Hrist is our leader and we will follow what she says. When she clears her head she will agree to go because she owes you for saving her life. Besides, we will always help our own isn't that true Forgall."

Forgall looked shocked for a moment then composed himself. "I dont know what you are talking about wicca " he said

It was turning out to be an interesting day Verdandi decided and pointed at the necklace around Forgall's neck. "Is that your mother's or did you pull it off of a battlefield somewhere?"

Ty watched as everyone talked around her, then started slighty hearing Hrist and watched her walk away. Keeping quiet, she waited a few moments then walked up and whispered something into the elder's ear. Verdandi nodded and Ty silently walked away from the group and headed off to find Hrist.

It didnt take Ty long to find the female warrior as she stood in a group of trees trying to clear her thoughts. Ty slowly entered into Hrist's view, then approached the warrior before lowering herself to her knees before Hrist. Ty then opened her thighs and bent at the waist until her forehead was on the soft grass, her arms stretched out before her and her wrists were crossed.

"Ty offers herself to you Mistress to do with Ty as you please."

Verdandi laughed at what Ty had to say and said, "By all means, child, go right a head. I'll be along shortly." She then turned to Forgall and said, "Your mother must have been lax in teaching you. That is the symbol of Urd, I gave up that symbol when I became Verdandi. Of course I would know it."

Hrist stood in the trees trying to figure out what game Verdandi was playing when Ty walked up. She watched as the girl kneeled down and assumed a very unusual position.

"Ty offers herself to you Mistress to do with Ty as you please."

Hrist stared shocked at this behavior and unsure of how to act.

"There has been a misunderstanding. You can go home or join the tribe it is your decision what you want to do. You don't have to act like that anymore."

"My mother died when I was 4." Forgall said quietly. Cahir looked over toward Forgall in shock. "Y-Your one of them?" Cahir asked "Aye, my mother was." Forgall said quietly "AND YOU NEVER TOLD ANYONE?!" Cahir roared "It was, and still is, not their business." Forgall said "I am still the most powerful warrior on Frosthold, why does it matter what my mother was?"
