Farmers don't have Union reps.
They are owner operators and t when they die, after taxes the person who trust to keep the farm going only gets 25% of what he inherited.
They tend to get sold out to corporate interests because of that.

2. You haven't addressed the issue. Why should our tax dollars go to keep farms that can't make it in business.
3. A better approach would be to get the government out of the farmers' way. Bureaucrats think they can micromanage everything, but they almost always make it worse because they have no real knowledge of what they're supposedly "helping."
