You got half of that wrong.

What did you get? They're only around $160.00 and that includes the SmartThings Hub from Samsung.

I got some cheap thing off off gearbest that I'm going to load Kodi on and then add some Polish TV stations (IPTV) on it. It's a belated Xmas present for my 77 y/o next door neighbor who lost her husband last year. She's home all day, doesn't get to speak Polish much anymore, but still has Internet.

Can't do without Internet!

Cool, man. Good for you. When you get your own, get the Nvidia.

Will she make you some cheese/potato perogies?

Dear GB techie know it alls,

Will I get better video signal quality out of a short (<72 inch) HDMI cable or component cables.

Love,
Pete

Very good.

Probably does not make much difference for the quality of gear I am talking about. The HDMI gives the cats less to fuck with.

SWMBO has a 25 foot HDMI cable to get cable TV in her art room from the sewing room.

I am running about 5 feet. I doubt that the difference is that significant. As long as I can see the biscuit go into the basket I am happy.

Peeps, if you know where to get 18650s for about a buck each, please let me know. And none of that Chinese 9000mAH bs, please.

I thought you knew a dude that bought a shitload off AliExpress?

No, on eBay. He breaks overstock modem battery packs and grinds off the weld, but he charges $2+ depending on AH. AliExpress is shoddy shit or counterfeit LG, Samsung or Sony.

Never buy batteries from Ali. I bought 4 LGs and they were garbage in new heat shrink. At least I was smart enough to do a test-buy.

Cables equal in all ways.

Which is better? Do you want to covert to analog earlier in the chain or wait until it gets to the video monitor?

I understand you'd much rather stay silent instead of simply correcting a brocuck pal, but, you know - for the record - you're converting from what to analog?

And it doesn't matter a bit where/when you convert within 5 ft, just as a HDMI cable is totally just as insignificant when the final output is analog.

The question is where is the best conversion point. The cable box or the tv. One is probably marginally better than the other.

You're downgrading digital to analog and wondering if an HDMI cable is beneficial?

Am I "downgrading" using a tube amplifier compared to you ultra modern solid state amp? Many times digital is cleaner, better, and easier. That is not always the case.

Now, please, without further delay, go fuck yourself.

So, you're taking your cable box digital feed and cabling it into your analog video monitor, which, of course is definitely downgrading from superior digital quality (both visual & audio) to analog (not a critique in any way; simply a factual technical observation). Again: a HDMI cable - which is specifically designed to transmit both digital visual & audio - is totally insignificant, meaning, any adequate analog cable will serve just as well. Also, again: it doesn't matter if you downgrade/convert the digital signal to analog at the box, by unioning two cables midway, or at the analog monitor itself: the final output is the dominant.

Now, please go back to staying brocuck pal silent instead of correcting the exact partisan bullshit/misinformation you have no trouble calling out non-brocuck pals on.

Yeah. What he said.

When you take your dirty dishes upstairs tell Mommy I said hello.
