George Santos

Anybody surprised?

A former fundraiser for Rep. George Santos has been charged with wire fraud and identity theft

A former fundraiser for U.S. Rep. George Santos has been indicted on federal charges that he impersonated a high-ranking congressional aide while soliciting contributions for the New York Republican’s campaign.

Me neither.
no, not surprised

if they were willing to pretend a whole bunch of people were state-confirmed electors then this is just par for the course

Rep. Hoyer (Dem) calling for ethics committee to release findings of investigations into santos

“More than enough time has passed for the Ethics Committee to conduct a fair and accurate assessment of the veracity of the allegations against Rep. Santos and of the scope of his misconduct,” Hoyer wrote in the letter. “Regardless of your committee’s ultimate determination, I urge you to release your committee’s findings expeditiously.”

“From lying about his family history to deceiving voters about his professional credentials, Rep. Santos has proven to be a pathological liar time and time again. Soon, the judicial process may find him guilty of criminal behavior as well,” he said.

Republicans expelling someone just because they're a criminal? What's the world coming to.

By that measure there are a few others who could be under consideration.

Just checked, Santos (or whatever your name is) quit his committee assignments in Jan 2023. He was never fired; he was actually appointed to them at a time when the GOP and the rest of the world knew about his fraudulent activities.

and now threatening to take others down with him if they dare give him the boot

"I look very much forward to seeing the anti American attempt by WEAK RINO’s to oust me without giving me my right to Due process," wrote Santos, who soon after being elected was exposed for having lied about almost every aspect of his personal background from his education to his work history. "Remember if I’m in fact ousted fascism will officially be well and alive in the United States of America and these members will be the champions of it."
"I do want to remind my dear colleagues who all but one have deep long troubling careers in politics that I will have a lot of time on my hands to return the favor in the most expedient fashion mankind has ever seen," he continued. "I’m done with the hypocrisy and the projection coming from the same individuals for the last 10 months! #PolitcalWarfare does not scare me, I find my strength in God and with him in my life all is possible."
might be fun seeing them wriggle out of the spotlight, all the while pointing at santos calling him "Liar!"

If Gym Jordan becomes Speaker that could create a vacancy on the House Oversight Committee.

Santos seems an ideal candidate for the position.
As long as he votes with the holdouts and keeps them on their goal to wreck the place… they will make him whip.

During a series of phone calls with a New York Times journalist, Rep. George Santos (R-NY) claimed that his extended family was victimized by the Chinese Communist government which was behind the brief kidnapping of his niece.

According to a police official: it never happened.
words fail
In an extensive piece for the Times, journalist Grace Ashford detailed a history of receiving calls from the embattled lawmaker at all hours, where he alternately defended himself and complained about the turn his life has taken since entering Congress, one time claiming, "I literally threw my entire life into the toilet and flushed it to get elected.”
According to Ashford, Santos was complaining about the threats he has faced when he confessed to her, "I’ll give you one, I’ll give you one story that nobody talks about,” she wrote before adding that he related, "... how his 5-year-old niece disappeared from a playground in Queens, only to be located 40 minutes later on a surveillance camera with two Chinese men. He said the incident was the subject of an active police investigation, implying heavily that it might have been in retaliation for his vocal stance against the Chinese Communist Party."
"A high-ranking police official confirmed that officers had been called and had looked into the incident. But they found no evidence of Chinese Communist Party involvement, or of any kidnapping at all," she wrote.

"We found nothing at all to suggest it’s true," the official told her before adding, "I’d lean into, ‘he made it up.

apparently, his life being flushed down the loo is all the fault of his aides

Santos alleges that he fell victim to the deceitful actions of his team members, particularly his former campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, and ex-consultant, Samuel Miele. He insists that he was unfairly targeted due to their unethical behavior.

Miele was indicted in August for impersonating a former House speaker’s staffer during fundraising calls for Santos. Santos confirmed that Miele was immediately dismissed upon discovery of his misconduct.
Despite these setbacks, Santos remains adamant about clearing his name, insisting that most charges against him are based on misunderstandings and errors caused by Marks’s dishonesty and incompetence.
i really don't think i could read that aloud with a straight face. he believes that being in office gives him a voice, and for a fabulist like him he needs that spotlight and won't relinquish it willingly

you know who he reminds me of? the guy who murdered Gianni Versace: invention on top of invention, the belief he's someone important and deserves to be seen as someone within the circles of fame and power

Omg, thanks for the heads up! We'd all better stop stealing campaign funds, borrowing people's identities and pretending our mothers died on 911!
