Ghost stories

RJ, that's just all kinds of fucked up.

OK, so Sunday I posted that I saw somebody - 2 somebodies - walking in my apartment even though nobody was here. My roommate has also seen somebody here. He was sitting on the couch when he first moved in; somebody sat down beside him, but there was nobody there. I hadn't told him that I'd already seen strange things in the apartment. He freaked *out.*

I'm convinced that mom and dad (mentioned early in this thread) are still with me. I tend to see them only when traumatic things happen. I hadn't seen them in several years - until I moved into my own place. I've been here since May, and I've seen "them" maybe half a dozen times. I almost always see them in pairs, although I have occasionally seen only one.

I'm dealing with a few of my own ghosts - demons from my past - right now. It's very traumatic at times but also cathartic and healing. Is it a coincidence that I saw them walk by when they did? I believe they're trying to be here for me when I need them. My original trauma happened while they were still alive, but I didn't tell them about it until I was forced to - at the last possible minute. They helped me get through it at the time, but they weren't able to help me emotionally. I believe that they're trying to be supportive now that I'm ready to conquer the emotional demons.

My mom especially identified with what I was going through at the time. She'd been abused in a previous marriage herself. I was far too traumatized at the time to even think about trying to heal; I was more interested in simply surviving. She didn't pressure me at the time; she was as supportive and helpful as I could ever hope for, but she allowed me to do what I needed to do without trying to influence my decisions one way or the other. I chose to move to FL.....to run away from my fear.

I dodged my bullets all these years, but now dodging them isn't enough. I'm ready to settle this once and for all and *win.* I have the support of loving friends, and I believe I also have the support of my parents. I believe they're here to make sure I'm ok. Really ok.

Well of course they'll there to support you. If they weren't, they'd scare the roommate more often LOL

BTW: I saw a t-shirt this morning, with a saying perfect for you and others

"Nurses:
We're here to help your ass, not kiss it!"

Written in 1998...LOL by me for a friend.

The Hollows Eve Treat

The treats had been passed out and I settled down before the cracking fireplace.
Even withr the warmth of the fire there was a cool swirl of air that seemed to dance around the room. My eyes lids wanted to close, but I wanted to complete the book I had started and I had a little wine to finish. As I sat there, there came a pair of soft hands from behind me placing themselves over my eyes. I was startled at first for I was the only one in the house and I didn't hear anyone enter. I heard a delicate whisper saying pleasse keep your eyes close. I did as the voice said, for it sounded so warm, safe and sexy. With me eyes closed I felt her pass around to my front and there was a scent of roses in the air. Now standing in front of me she placed her hands on mind tugging me from my comfortable sofa. With my eyes closed I followed her wishes by setting on the fur rug directly in front of the fire. There she requested me to open my eyes and to my pleasant surprise she was extremely beautiful. she had long brown hair, hourglass body, peach soft, sweet lips and haunting dark eyes. I moved forward to touch her to to see if she was real as she sat there in front of me. She chuckled softly as I reached for her saying I am here just for you. Her skin was just as silky as it looked. She moved toward me and slowly helped me out of my clothes. With only the light of the fireplace flicking I tried to every bit of her. She kissed me on the chest and then worked her way up to my lips, If she was a spirit you could have fooled me for her lips were tender and her kisses were so sweet. I massaged her large breasts that were firm. I slid down under her allowing her on top. she reached behind herself and fondled my penis while I began massageing her clit with one of my hands. She was warm and wet inside as she rocked herself against my hand. When I became hard she moved herself over my penis and slowlly sank down on it as I fondled her wet warm folds. With her hand she played with my balls. She seemed to anticipate my wants and moves. I was about to explode inside her when she stopped and moved beside me. I kissed and licked her sweet warm body. I gave her neck love bites as she squimed with delight. While kissing her I massaged her clit as it grew with each touch, it was warm and super wet. She raised herself and got on all fours with me behind her. I stuck my tongue deep inside of her sweet, sticky wettness and probed her clit. While I probe and tongued her clit, I fingered deep into her hotness as she let out crys of pleasure. I moved to rubbing my penis inside the folds of her wetness. I soon rammed myself deep into her as she pushed herself against me. We were both thrusting and ramming into each other like there was no tomarrow and each moaning loudly in sheer pleasure. I was on the edge of cuming when I faintly heard the hallway clock chiming. When I exploded inside her, I got the biggest shock of my life. It still haunts me to this minute for when I went off inside her, I found I was still setting on the sofa. It scared me so bad I reached for my glass if wine to find I had finished it. looking around the room no one was there and I was still in my clothes, but there was a faint smell of roses in the air. I got up trying to shake it off and get glass of wine to calm myself. When I got up I felt something prick my foot. As I looked down every hair on my body stood on end and I almost choked on my next breath. For there at my feet was a dried rose. What happened in that room to this day I can't explain and I have never seen her again. While I lived that house each Hollows Eve I found a dried rose on my pillow

There was a time when I was looking at houses for investments. One empty for sale house I went into I kept seeing people hanging around in some of the rooms I went into. Finally I decided the house was just too crowded and lost interest.

My mom, on one of her little trips with a coiple of my nieces, went to some historic house to sightsee, going thru all the rooms ooohhhing and aaahhhing. At one point she sat on like a loveseat while the girls kept exploring. As my mom surveyed the room she looked to her left and saw some pirate type ghost dude sitting next to her smiling at her. She told me they just looked at each other until he faded away.

I keep hearing statements like "I see/talk to dead people" I keep trying to tell folks that if you see them and can communicate with them, they are not friggin dead!

Hi Jenny! Pull up a log and sit here at the fire with me. The fire-roasted apples are a real treat! We usually just have S'mores around the campfire! Do you have any stories that you can tell us? It doesn't have to be your story; it can be one you've heard. Hell, it doesn't even have to be real! It just has to raise goosebumps! That's our only requirement here. (But if you have any delicious fireside treats to share, we'll be glad to help you get rid of them!)

Thanks - I forgot I had popped in here! I can bring marshmallows for sure! I think I'm one of those people who just isn't attuned to receive things from other realms - while I've been in supposedly haunted places, I haven't even felt the hair on my neck rise. However, my mom had a couple of things happen. Her father died suddenly when she was a young woman. He was a professional musician, whose main instrument was the violin. A few months after his death, she awoke to see him at the foot of her bed, and clearly heard him admonish her, "Young lady, take care of my fiddle!" Sure enough, when she checked it, some part of the instrument, the bridge I think, had cracked.

Well, this is kinda creepy. It's not a ghost story, but it's definitely mysterious. My neighbor just came & got me to show me what they were seeing from our back yards. A huge light, bigger than a star and not moving, was sitting about 45 degrees above the horizon. OK, so? I thought. Then they showed me what the video camera was showing with the lens zoomed all the way in. O.M.G. It looked like a classic "UFO" - ovoid, with kind of a darker band around the middle, and it appeared to be spinning, with what looked like flames or vapor emitting from the bottom. There were 2 smaller lights to the west of it, changing colors from time to time. I know these have to be explainable, but it could really make a person a believer to see what we saw. We could think of nothing that would look exactly like it. A Google search showed several similar reports in the area this year. eeeeeeee.

And no, no liquor had been consumed by any of us!

Ohhhh! Both very cool stories! No alcohol huh? Maybe just a bit afterwards for therapeutic purposes? :D

I'm a pianist even though I haven't owned a piano in the past dozen-ish years. I'm currently in the process of procuring another. After I cross over to the next life, you can bet your sweet Aunt Matilda's farm that I'll come back to haunt anybody who doesn't take proper care of my piano!

I love the erotic horror story! Thanks!

I've never seen anything clearly enough to make out facial features or even to determine gender. I'm not sure if that would be cool or just too damn creepy for words!

I lied in my last post. I have now seen a man walking in my apartment. It wasn't the boyfriend; he was brushing his teeth at the time.

The past week or so has been somewhat difficult. Jan 12 was Daddy's birthday. Jan 19 will be the 12th anniversary of his death. I've also been working on those demons I mentioned earlier in the thread, and there have been major changes here at home. If that isn't enough, I'm taking chantix to quit smoking, so my nightmares rival Stephen King novels.

I know I saw somebody - a man - walk through the apartment. I called out to the boyfriend, but he was in the bathroom. I double checked the front door - locked. Nobody else was here but I saw a man. We both believe it was daddy checking up on me.

My boyfriend actually wants to see him. He wants to assure him that he'll take care of me. He's a keeper. :)

Yes he is a keeper. Not many people would be willing to admit they want to see a ghost.

We think he's concerned about me and that if he knows I'm being cared for, he can be at peace. It'll be interesting to see of it does have an effect.

I would agree with you that he wants to know you are being cared for. My Grandpa passed away in 1974. He had a little "bar" in the den of my Grandmas house. It had those little nightlight size lights on it, shaped like a candle and glowed red so it would look like a candle. They are supposed to stay static, but sometimes the "flame" moves up and down. My grandma is comforted because she feels its my grandpa letting her know she is there. Oh, and they have been on 24/7 365 days since he died in 1974 without burning out.

That's too cool!

As a nurse, I know that concern about loved ones' safety is a big concern for dying patients. Many times someone has to give them permission to die and promise to take care of the other family members before the dying person will let go. I have to believe that concern follows them into the afterlife as well.

When my mother came home to die, she held on long enough for everyone to say their goodbyes. She died sometime after midnight, June 28, a day after my son's birthday. My sister said she was communicating that day, when she was told that Precious had received the money for his gift, our mother smiled and went to sleep.

I learned long ago that when a patient suddenly tells you they're going to die, pay attention. They're usually right. I've also learned that when a patient starts having visitors who have long passed, they usuallly pass as well - usually on that particular shift, although sometimes within the next 24 hours.

Wow ... that's fascinating :)

My story is about the ghost hiker. I'll be out hiking in the desert by myself and suddenly hear footsteps behind me, clear as day. I whirl around, but there's never anyone there. When it first started happening, years ago, it scared the crap out of me, but now I've gotten used to it and it doesn't really bother me. I've heard it in the mountains too, but more often in the desert.

I've mentioned to other hikers, and some of them have admitted they hear it, too. It's not just me.

I have no idea what causes it. I've considered every explanation I can think of, and have ruled out every one of them. I've discussed it at length with other people and we can't figure it out.

So I don't know what the hell it is. A real ghost hiker, I guess.

Is it the same general area each time? If it is repetitive behavior this is often called a residual haunting, kind of like a scene from a movie playing over and over again. Many times in death someone remains attached to the earthly plane, maybe it was a favorite spot to visit or something violent occurred there. Many believe that such energy can actually imprint an area, or their is some geological anomalies nearby (magnetic fields, water) that lend energy to manifestations.

Many skeptics will rack their brains to come up with a plausible explanation for something like this. Simply put, some things in this world can not be explained.

Hi Beach Momma, this is not exactly a ghost story, perhaps something along the lines of highly unusual odds happening twice.

A long time ago I was in the navy serving in a ship home ported in Long Beach CA. One night I was on liberty and having a drink or two in a bar in town. I was involved in a minor altercation with another sailor and the bartender physically threw me out. I hollered into the bar and asked for my cigarettes and lighter back he threw them at me.

A bit of a side note here. At the time there were about 60 ships stationed in Long beach and every ship had Zippo lighters with the ships name and crest on the lighter. Once I gathered up the smokes and lighter I noticed the lighter was from a ship named the U.S.S. Chemung AO-30, not my ship. I shrugged and carried the lighter for a while. About 4 months later I received orders to the U.S.S. Chemung AO-30. It was a total surprise as I was not expecting to be transferred for several more months and I expected orders to another destroyer and not a replenishment ship.

Several years later I was going to a navy school in San Francisco, I was on liberty again walking down the street and kicked something, I picked it up, it was a Zippo lighter with the name of the U.S.S. Rupertus DD – 851 on it. Once I completed the school I was available to be reassigned from Washington, DC. What the hell it was a free lighter, I put it in my pocket.

Yup, you guessed it, when I graduated from the school I was given orders to report aboard the U.S.S. Rupertus DD- 851 home ported in Yokosuka Japan and that had not been in the states for over a year. I am not superstitious worth a damn, I do not care about Friday the 13th, I’ll easily walking under a ladder, I’ll pick up and pet the black act that crossed my path and only bitch about having to clean up the mess from a broken mirror, when I received those orders I swore if I ever saw another lighter in the street I’d kick it into the gutter and keep on walking. Not ghosts, but it sure spooked the hell out of me.

My ghost story is about my spirit mammal. (I say mammal because I also have a spirit bird -- the crow -- which, I believe, is also responsible for protecting me from an early death.)

I went on a vacation a few years back and saw my first Pronghorn (Antelope). (They aren't actually antelope. If you want to know more about them, here is the Wiki link.)

There was something magical about the moment: the Pronghorn is an incredible animal, the second fastest animal on Earth (because it was once the prey of the American Cheetah). They typically hurry off when they see or hear humans, unlike many deer species which will just stand, waiting for you -- and your rifle -- to leave so that they can get back to eating.

But this one, about 200-300 yards out -- it was hard to tell -- turned and walked right at me, even though its mates either turned away or stood frozen in place. This animal slowly covered most of the distance, stopped, and stared at me from about 50 yards for ... god, I don't even know how long. I was alone and in no hurry, so I could have stayed and watched it forever. But another car began coming over the hill behind me and boom, this gal -- no fork in the horns -- was gone. She just disappeared. I looked for her, but saw no sight of her.

Then, two weeks later and back home, I was hurrying to work at 5 in the morning on a twisting, country road when I swore that I saw a Pronghorn on the shoulder of the road. They don't live here, but I didn't think about whether it was possible or not at the time. I just hit the brakes to slow down and looked into my rear view mirror for it, and...

...that was when the farm truck pulled into my lane on its approach to a field. It was fully in my lane for several dozen yards, and I would have hit it head-on had I not slowed for the Pronghorn. My heart jumped into my throat as I swerved and luckily had a wide gravel shoulder in which to skid to a stop. After a moment of panic -- and profanity for the farm truck driver -- I turned and looked back, and there it was, the Pronghorn, staring at me before disappearing into the bushes.

I know it couldn't have been a Pronghorn: it had to have been a deer or large goat out of its field. I even called the Department of Fish and Wildlife to see if it was possible. They told me know. I knew a couple of the farmers/ranchers in the area, and I asked if anyone had had a goat escape. None had, or none had wanted to admit it, fearing liability.

But I just knew it was a Pronghorn that had saved my life that morning.

Awesome! Great stories, everybody! Keep 'em coming!

I'm starting a new job tomorrow. I'll be at a different hospital, different culture, totally different from what I've been used to the past few years. I'm curious to find out if my "ghosts" follow me.

As for the ghosts here at home, nobody has seen them since that night that I told y'all about. But three of my fish have died since then.

Some might follow, but then again, you might have a few more make their presences known.

Somebody please tell them that I'm friendly, one of the good guys, and that I deserve to be under their protection!

Well, I hope the word is passing around the ghostly grapevine at the hospital that I'm cool even if I am a newcomer. This past weekend, I saved my first life at the new job. It wasn't even my patient. A nurses' aide came out of a room a little upset. It seems she tried to take vital signs on one of the patients, and he was so blue that she didn't even bother putting the pulse oximeter on him before coming for help. I went in, and yeah, he was a really pretty color of indigo. I put him on a non-rebreather oxygen mask (100% oxygen), cranked the O's up as high as they'd go, and called respiratory to come give him a breathing treatment. For whatever reason, the doc didn't order him to be transferred to a higher level of care, but when I went back to work the next morning, they'd transferred him to ICU during the night.

Off the clock, my boyfriend's daughter had a birthday a few weeks ago. She wanted to go to Outback for her birthday dinner, so we took her after I got off work - meaning it was nearly closing time and the place was almost deserted. We sat in a booth. The entire time we were there, I kept seeing a little girl in the booth behind us. As clear as crystal, I could see her standing up in the booth, between my boyfriend and me, watching us. When I turned to look, there was no one there. I didn't say anything in front of his daughter, but when she went to the restroom, I mentioned it to him. He hadn't seen a thing. By that time, I'd already seen her at least 8-10 times.

When his daughter got back to the table, I still didn't say anything, but whenever I saw the little girl, I'd nudge my boyfriend's ankle with my foot. We'd both turn and look at the same time, but of course, by then, she was gone again. His reaction? Why the hell does he always miss the good stuff? I must've seen the girl at least 15 times over the course of the evening. She seemed to be around 4 years old.

Yeah, it's creepy.

It sounds as if the little girl only wanted you to see her.

We've been at home and something walks between us, but he doesn't see it. Only I see it. He's had other people say the same thing. He just can't see it. It's almost sad in a way but the little girl was creepy and sad. I wish I hadn't seen her.

My old roommate saw my ghosts - while I wasnt home. I'd think I'm crazy, but enough other people have seen them in the same places as where I've seen them.
