Ghost stories

LOL! You just want your turn in my ample bosom! I'll protect you if the little girl comes for you.

Ample bosom? That sounds kinda nice. :D

Little girls don't scare me. Chucky dolls, people sewed onto goats, and people nailed to trees do. But not clowns. Clowns are okay.

What about people sewed into goats then nailed to trees?

Clowns are *not* ok!

I love this thread and I'm sorry about just jumping into your conversation like this! I'm wondering about something though and reading through the posts here makes me think one of you might have an opinion.
Our cats have always seemed able to see things we can't. I just accept it as a fact of life but a few posts back I think it was BeachMomma who said hers do some of the same stuff. Staring at things that don't seem to be there etc. We have two and they will both look at a spot just raptly that would seem random except for the fact that they are on opposite sides of the room and have perfectly triangulated that one location to stare at, I've watched them watch whatever it is move.
Do you suppose they are able to interact with something we can't or merely perceive it?

The other thing that I wonder about is why people want to kill mimes but are afraid of being killed by clowns.

That's just creepy.

Clowns are okay.

How about we make a deal: when the people get sewn onto goats, I'll bury my face in your ample bosom. When the clowns come out (and you've finally managed to pry my face away from your bosom), you can bury your face in my chest. :D See? Perfect.

Hi! Jump in anywhere; we're friendly! Grab a s'more and while you're up would you mind bringing me another coke? Thanks!

I'm certainly no expert, but I believe kids and animals can see things that we can't. I believe it's because we've lost our innocence and no longer have the capability of taking things on faith. We've become jaded.

Case in point: my daughter. She saw things, or should I say people, in her room. She saw them in the kitchen and a couple of times in the hallway. Several times she saw them when I was in the room with her, but I didn't see a thing.

Out cats were fascinated with her room in particular. I no longer live in that house so I can't say what's happened in the past few months. While I lived there we had to do a kitty head count every time we left that room or we'd accidentally shut a cat in there.

Our old dog (that we put to sleep a few years ago) seemed to sense things. He didn't growl, but he behaved differently. I got the feeling that whatever it was, they were friendly (the dog and the...ghosts for lack of a better word).

My husband and I got to see some strange things, but I don't think we ever saw the ghosts. At least I didn't. I can't speak for him.

My husband lived in that house before I did and he knows for a fact that a woman died of natural causes in the bedroom that became my daughter's. I had a conversation with out neighbor and confirmed that. The neighbor built our house in the 60's for his mother, and yes, she did die in her sleep. In my daughter's bedroom.

It's a bit sketchy in my mind...

So this had to be 2006 or early 2007. I went down to Long Beach (I think) where the Queen Mary was docked. It was night time, and there were guided tours going on, but there were also portions of the ship where you could walk about unsupervised. I was with my girlfriend at the time, and her brother. And I remember walking up the ramp and into the ship, crossing over the ocean, and it just felt kind of... strange. So the three of us walked in, and we noticed that it was virtually empty. I don't know if it was just the time of night, or if all the tours were going, but there were only a couple people down thirty meters or so to our right.

We walked a bit, following signs, and ended up either a deck above or below where we started, can't remember which. The walkways on that ship are, or seemed at the time, to be very wide. And long. 5 long steps from one wall (studded with cabin doors) to the other (with windows so you could look out on the ocean). A good twenty second run from one end to the other... twenty for me, anyway.

So we wandered for a bit, following signs, and ended up either a deck below or above where we started. Can't remember which, but I think it was above. We were walking along, reading the signs and placards on the wall. The last one I remember reading was one about childcare, and the difference between first and second class childcare. My girlfriend was a couple doors to my right, and her brother was just past her.

We heard a kind of muffled slamming sound at the end of the hallway to my left, kind of like hearing the sound of a door closing through a closed door, or an echo of it from a ways off. We all looked at each other... we hadn't seen anyone else around, in front of or behind us. And nothing was moving either. We could see the length of the corridor in both directions. The sound reverbed off the walls.

And then my girlfriend started to say something, probably 'what was that?' Just as she did, the sound repeated itself, a little louder. And by then, my heart had gone from resting to beating full bore in a second's time.

Suddenly, near the end of the walkway, we saw this little woman in white come out of one of the side doors just like the ones we were standing next to. We stood there, watching, no one saying anything. After her came a little girl in a blue and white dress, kind of like the plaid picnic blanket things. She caught up to the woman, skipping, and took her hand. The strange part was that there was no sound. Every sound we had made echoed a little bit, but there was no sound from them.

They turned away from us and walked down the corridor, going through a door in the middle. Now,I don't know if it opened, because we couldn't really see it move, but we heard the sound of the door closing again and... I don't know how to explain it. It was kind of like seeing two versions of the door, one that was there and one that wasn't, and they walked through the one that wasn't there.

Needless to say, we hauled ass out of there. Sat in the parking lot for ten minutes before I could drive.

Yeah, Kal, that's creepy.

We average several patients weekly dying on our floor. Usually about 3, but that number goes up and down. I've never *seen* anything unusual, but I've experienced things. Sometimes the patients' doors won't open. It's like they're locked tight. I've fussed and messed with them till I get frustrated then go to get somebody else. When I bring somebody with me, the damn thing opens like there was never a problem. Of course we all laugh about it. That happens to everybody too. Not just me.

One night near shift change (around 7pm), everybody sat around the nurses' desk. The elevators are right across from the desk, easily visible to all of us. All of the day shift crew was exhausted and ready for night shift to come relieve us, so when the elevator doors opened, we thought that was the night crew coming in. Nobody got off the elevator. Nobody got on the elevator. It closed and went to another floor. No big deal, right? That's easily explained. Well, it kept doing that. Over and over. It lasted long enough that one of the aide's had time to pull out her phone and video it. Talk about creepy!

I was young, probably around fifth grade I was walking with my cool girl friend. We crossed the street and I heard car brakes screeching. I turned, looked at my friend and I swear I saw a ghost standing behind her. It was an image of a girl in a ripped up night dress with what looked like bruises all over her body, but the image was blurry and gray. It was so fast that I wasn’t sure if it was true or not. We got out of the street. The noise was from the block behind us, and we were not in imminent danger.

The next week I ran out of the house for school. There was a garbage truck in front of my house. I ran in front of the garbage truck and pretty much rammed myself into the front side of a passing car.

I didn’t seem injured so I went to school. I was named after an Aunt that got hit by a car and died before I was born.

Wow! Did you ever see the little girl again? How old was your aunt when she died? What ever happened to your friend?

Cats and ghosts:

One afternoon, I walked up our stairs. Our cat Blackie, an older rescue cat, was sitting outside our son's electronics/game room. I hit the top step and she mysteriously slid backwards, as if she was being pushed by an invisible hand. She mewed, like she did when she was being petted by my wife or I

Our present cat, Smokie, will sit and stare at the stairs some evenings, after 9, and move his head like he's watching someone come down the stairs or an invisible hand is teasing him. Most times after this occurs, he'll sprint into the kitchen like he's running after someone.

Cats are stuck-up

Nurses can be scary!!
Nurses are terrifying.

Cats are independent.. If we could hybridise a cat's independent streak with a dog's loving, all-over-the-place, happy mindset, we'd have the perfectly tempered pet.

That said, and my above post in mind, I've always liked cats more than dogs. There's something about them that I love.

OK, clowns are annoying and scary.

Nurses are only terrifying when we want to be.

I've seen dogs that behave like cats. It's sort of like being in the Twilight Zone. LOL

Here's what makes cats cool in my opinion. Dogs just love ya. They don't have a choice. lol Cats - when a cat comes to you, you know it's because they WANT to be with you. Or they want something from you. hehe

This thread makes the hair on my arms stand up.....I love it!!! :rose:

I didn't see the girl ghost image again. My Aunt was 14 when she died. The friend is still local.

My Grandmother had a dream before her daughter died-- her son fell off the balcony and her daughter was crying over his body: it should have been me. That year her daughter died, and about twenty years later her son also died by hanging.

Oh wow. Poor woman. The human nature and psyche - and the part of our subconscious that we don't yet understand - are amazing.

I wonder if that *was* your aunt....

That's the interesting part. I think that, on some level, we're aware of these supernatural things going on around us, but on a conscious level, the rational, logical level we use every day, we can't explain them so our brain ignores them. Does that ake sense? I liken seeing ghosts to dreaming. We can't dream when we're awake, because the part of the brain that dreams is in use for other things. We can't see ghosts most of the time because our brains, on a basic level, are thinking and rationalising. My take on it, anyway...
