Gladiators (not open for all, sorry)

"I told you that you would regret not killing me," Garret said, taking out his quarterstaff. It was not the best weapon against a sword, but then again seeing as there already two swords against his one, the quarterstaff seemed perfect. He loved it's length most of all, able to do the most damage from the farthest away. Even the longest of swords didn't compare in length to it.
Garret assembled himself in a defensive stance. It was better to see the king start out the match, for then he could see what moves he had, and find it's weaknesses. A smart fighter and a strong fighter were nearly two opposites, and in any given fight one could win over the other, but it is only the smart fighter that can ever learn anything from win or defeat.
He squeezed the wooden weapon in his hand, anticipating the duel.

King Elsworth:

"Fools..." He spat as he marched forward. He locked eyes with the one that had sang in defiance. "You first!" He barked as he hoisted his sword up, only to bring it sharply down, and through the middle of his quarter staff, splitting it in two. It was an attack of warning. Whatever blade the king used, it was not normal steel as smoke whisped from the severed ends of Garret's staff.

Stepping back, Florin growled. "Now, bow, and I will give you all a clean death... I cannot promise such if you continue to defy me!"

Garret looked at his two allies, or what appeared ot be allies. He saw his quarterstaff, which was now two eigth staffs (come on, now that's comedy). There seemed to be no choice but to do as the king asked.
He bowed down silently, one stick in each hand. It would be quick and clean, just as the king promised. He didn't know it, but there seemed to be a shock come from the crowd as he did so. Such a well thought out fight surely weren't to end so early.
The sword drew up high into the air. It's shadow passed through Garret's face as it made it's way toward the death blow.
Then, Garret look up at the King, and smiled such a wonderful and defiant smile. Both sticks in his hand flew towards the King's legs, each hitting on that perfect spot in the back there is no bone... only ligaments and muscle.
Garret rolled out of the way, only recieving a minor hit to the shoulder, barely worth bleeding over. He quickly picked up a guard's sword, forgotten in the melee and looked back at the King.
"Revenge is a dish best served cold, but for you, I'll make an exception."

King Elsworth:

Stumbling a few paces away, Florin turned with disgust on his lips. "For that, your death will be slow... The bards of this land will sing in hushed tones of your pitious wails of pain!"

Kita

Kita stood back a little, letting the other gadiator have his turn at the king, her arm throbbing painfully, but the pain inducing her to anger. She had no intention of letting this wothless worm of a king leave the arena alive, nor did she wish to see either of the other two men in the pit with her die. She was never one to fight dirty, but in this case she would make an exception if she had to, she was sure the gods would see her reasoning.

She looked up to the kings viewing box, her eye's locking with the prince, and a new sense of dread washing over her, along with a saying her mother (bless her soul) often used. *better the devil you know than the devil you don't" The Prince looked directly at her, licking his lips and making lusty gestures that made her feel ill. This king was a worm, but would his sucessor be any better, or an even worse blight on the people of these lands? Perhaps they would have to kill them both, end the line. Her attention was snapped back to the task at hand when the king screamed out a curse at the man he was fighting.

Watching the battle as it rage on towards a heated pitch, my eyes turned to the women among us in the pit. She had been looking at the young prince that watched down upon us. The man had a look of lust in his eyes while gawking at her. He had a lot of his father festering within him. Far too much for my liking. Looking back at the woman, I knew she also saw the threat the prince would present after killing the king. Both of them would be in our best interest. For now though, we needed to deal with the king.

Turning my attention back to the battle at hand, I fight the temptation to jump in to help Garret. The kings death was something that many had dreamed of being responsible for. That included myself among those who had that wish. But I would have to let Garret take his chance. This was his fight now.

Ooc: Yeah, thanks guys.

Garret parried another swipe from his leg. He moved back suddenly, unsure of what to do. This man was extremely skilled, and anything that got past his initial defending would easily be pushed aside. It was like fighting a machine or something (machines being invented at the time).
Garret made a slice for the legs, being stopped suddenly. The king fought harshly, but it didn't ensue his own abilities any. He tried something different, a combination move would leave him open, but Garret doubted the man would think he had it in him.
He did a high aim, for the head, was blocked easily and rolled behind him, using the blunt of his sword on the back of the man's knees. He hoped he would hear a wonderous crack as his sword hit him, but alas, not everything was perfect.
He turned around suddenly blocking another blow. He wasn't quite sure if he had even hurt the man. Garret didn't know of much else to do, he would anticipate another combo move, and nothing he was trying did any good.
Garret remained heartstrong, waiting for a chance to strike the man down.

King Elsworth:

"RrrRRRAH!" Florin bellowed as he struck down upon Garret's defending sword. The force of his blow dropped Garret to his knees, their clashing swords making their ears ring as the steel's sparked along one another. With a fluid motion, Florin flicked Garret's sword to the side with his own, following it up with a sharp kick to his jaw, sending him sprawling onto his back. "Hahahah!" Florin laughed mockingly. "Commoner's... Barely worth the effort..." The king circled around Garret, his blade pointed at the gladiator's throat.

Garret found himself in the similiar situation. This was going to take some careful planning. There was only one thing he could think of.
He began crying like a little baby. He let those tears flow as if the gods themselves had opened up a lake in the sky. He bubbled and babbled and did everything possible to make even the strongest of man pity him.
He waited patiently, the King would turn away, or make some mistake. He cried and cried, but always watched intently...
There! THERE!!!! NOW.
He struck out with his foot, letting it travel close to the ground all the way around him, in an instant the King was on the ground, his sword flying in the air. Garret leaped, catching it, he fell on his hurt foot though, and crumbled to the ground. There, they both lay, sprawled in the mud, their faces mere inches from each other, and the sword, lying far away mocked them both.
Garret's eyes instantly scanned for another weapon, nothing was close enough. He jumped up, looking from the sword back to the king. If he went for it, Garret would give him a good kick to the stomache, but if he didn't, then they would have to start hand to hand combat.
And he really didn't want that... he really didn't.

King Elsworth:

With a grunt Florin launched at Garret, their bodies collided roughly as Florin grappled for Garret's throat, his eyes burned with the malevalent intention to choke the life from this pitiful commoner. "Die!" Florin growled over and over, paying no attention to either of the other two in the arena, his hands locked in a death grip around Garret's throat and began throttling him!

OOC: Just trying to build up the tension a little, Pooh. ;)

IC: The younger Gladiator had put up a worthy fight against the king, but was now at the mercy of his hands. It would be an honorable death, that was for sure. One fitting a man with kind of heart he seemed to have from what little I knew of him. However, his death was not something that would lead to our freedom.

Moving forword with a quick leap, my arms wrap around the kings waist. Forcing him off of Garrett with my body weight, we both go rolling along the dirt. A elbow to the ribs loosens my grip on the king long enough for him to break free. My knee goes up into his groin right before I roll away from him. Moving into a kneeling position, my hands on my side, I watch the king trying to brush off the pain to his groin while looking back.

"It's your move now, my lord." I say with a mocking tone while keeping my eyes locked on the King.

However, I knew that this man was not going to be as easy as to defeat as I'd original hoped. He was good, perhaps too good for me to take on by myself. Glancing back at Garrett, I knew it would probably take both of us to defeat this man.

Kita

Standing back a little, Kita watched for her chance to join the fight, nursing her arm, and keeping an eye on the prince. For a moment she thaught he might come to aid his father, but thought better of it, his fathers death being something he too, craved.

She wathed as the two men battled hard, and no matter what the outcome, she was determined to see that royal bastard die. SHe held her blade at the ready with her one good are, prepared to give her life this day for the greater good if it was called for.

Air, oh incessant air. The joy that filled his lungs greeted him as a long lost lover, passionate kisses fluttered around him. He loved it's smell, yes air did have a smell and it was wonderful. Garret breathed in deeply.
The other man had finally decided to join, about time (tension my ass, you just wanted to see me get hurt). Garret watched them both for a minute, and then looked over at the fallen sword.
It was such a beautiful sword, wasn't it. The steel, unlike anything he has ever really seen, and it looked sharper than most swords. He quickly picked it up, sheathing it. A nice payment indeed for his broken quarterstaff.
Garret looked at the king with a slight smirk. No longer was there any chance for defeat. This battle would be short, to say the least.
"Come now King, even you know when to quit. If you run, we won't think you any more of a coward then you already are."

King Elsworth:

Standing as proudly as one could after taking a hit to the groin, Florin scoffed. He had to, what would his people think of him if he conceeded to defeat by... Commoners! Stepping forward, attaining his royal posture. "I will beat you within an inch of your miserable lives! But I will not kill you... Your misery will go on for decades to come! So I swear!" Florin shouted with venom. Shifting his eyes to the guards that were preparing to enter, Florin lifted a hand to halt them. Even their help would steal away the respect of the people, Florin knew.

Brakus

The king was not going to stay down for this battle. I think it was safe to assume that we all knew that from the beggining. We watched as the king raised his hand to keep the guards at bay. What little pride the king had would not let him show he needed assistance to defeat his enemys. Especialy before such a large crowd of spectators. Good. Atleast now we wouldn't have to worry about them.

"Let's finish this then. We shall all see just what the king himself is capable of in actual combat!" I yelled back while preparing for the fight.

The king and I both charge forword, the rush of the moment taking over our sences. Our bodys came into contact as fists flew into the air. A forcefull punch to my ribs caught me off guard. Another causes me to have to pull back from this exchange. Delivering a knee to his jaw, I leap back to try and catch my breath.

The king still stood, a hand rubbing his busted jaw, but still looking as sure of himself as ever. He might have bruised a rib with that last hit. The pain was great, but it would be nothing compared to what would happen if we lost this fight.

Kita

Kita watched the fight, but she also paid close attention to what was happening around them, The gards were gatering in mass, and if this fight was not ended quicky, all chance for their escaper would be lost. She thaught of taking her leave with these two men did thier best and kept everyone occupied, but she had a little more honor than that. Besides, she wanted back ther piece of the stone. It was hers, and it was her link to her brother. She hoped he had made it to safety, somehow, she knew he had.

As the king faught with the other two men, he tired, and Kita rested. She hefted the sword, swinging it easily in her good hand and waiting for her turn to kick the swine's ass.

"Wait," he said to the both of them. This was not looking good at all. He could see the guards, and the spectators, all of which loved seeing this fight.
"Listen, I think we all know we could beat the King rather easily betwixt the three of us. The problem is, these guards and the audience will have our heads. They love this king. I would guess rather heavily that none of us wanted to die today, so perhaps it is best to call it a day."
The iron gate at the far side was noiselessly swaying in the open breeze.
"Live to fight another day my friends."

King Elsworth:

"Fool, you will die at my hand!" Florin growled as the sweat from this battle dripped from his brow. He circled to block their escape from the arena, hoisting his sword with a grunt. He rushed at Garret, the blade set to peirce his heart.

OOC: I intended for Florin to die, that is why I have introduced Valdimer, Pooh, no need to play safty on killing my guy. ;)

Kita

Looking over her sholder, Kita could see the king closing the distance fast. She still needed her stone back, and she still wanted him dead. Spinning on her heal, she drove her blade up under the king's ribs, deep into his lungs. He gagged, his mouth fiiling with blood that sprayed forth as he caughed and collapsed onto his hands and knees.

The other two men stoped running to look at what had happened, but she grabed them, screaming "RUN"

Realizing that she had forgoten the stone, she ran back, swinging her leg and kicking the king in the chin, knocking him onto his back, rumaging in his pocket for the stone, and finding it.

Watching as Florin caughed up his own blood while struggling to stay alive, I walked up to the King while the woman grabbed what she wanted.

"I've waited awhile to do this to you." I explain right before delivering a swift kick across his jaw. This was quickly followed by two more kicks right into his face.

After getting in those hits, I yell out, "And that's for making me wait so long to get that first kick in!"

Once I was done getting in my few moments of payback, I ran with the other two as we tried to escape. They could still capture and kill the three of us, but it would take them weeks to wipe this grin off my face.

Kita

Clasping the stone in her hand, Kita called to her brother.

"Valin. Valin, where the hell are you? We need horses and we need then NOW!!!"

Garret kneeled before the crumbling man (I am just playing safe because that's what my character would do).
"I told you you would regret it."
He picked up the King's sword, the black steel felt good in his hands. With one swift arch it came down, right into the man's heart. Blood exploded from his chest, heaving forth onto the ground. It splattered several directions, covering some of Garret's garments as well. Never had he felt prouder to have another man's blood on him as he did now.
Garret looked up at the guards. They stormed him, leaving hardly an exit available. He ran, without conviction of exactly where he was going, all the obvious exits were blocked. Looks like he would have to find an unobvious one. Quickly he ran up into the audience. They were too surprised to do much, although he had to block a few tackles from them. Garret took to the high rise, looking below. Fifty feet to the hard ground, damnit, he had to pick today to come without his magical flying boots.
"THERE!"
Garret saw the King's son pointing at him, and hundreds of guards running in his directions. Not much time for anything except to jump. He looked down, no one could make that. Yet, fifty swords pointed at his heart seemed like far less of a challenge. He looked for anything that could help him.
The stream pittered it's way beyond the arena. Garret saw it with great comfort, close to the arena it was merely a few feet, but if he could just jump out there far enough.
He didn't like calculating things like this, especially under pressure, one of the guards was almost upon him. Garret jumped.
>SPLASH<

Valdimer Elsworth:

As the scene of his father's death played out, Valdimer hid a lustful smile at the slaughter that would make him king. He lifted his head with a look of shock, and hatred, pointing an accusing finger at the gladiator's that had done his father in. "Get them! Do not let them escape with their heads!" Valdimer shouted. It was of little concern to him really if they escaped or not, in fact, they had done him the greatest of services. But he had to keep the charade going, anything less would be unseemly. After bellowing his commands for them to be hunted down, Valdimer made his way through the crowd, to his fathers lifeless, blood soaked body. No one came near as Valdimer crouched at his fathers side. "Old fool, your pride got you killed..." He growled as he pretended to greive for all to see. "Now it is my turn to reign!"

Valin

Hearing his sister, woke him from his trance. He climbed down the tree, being carefull of gaurds. He had left the 3 horses at the market place. But he was to far from there to get them. So Valin looked around and saw 3 horse next to a tree, from gaurds who were searching for him. He snaked up and ntied the horses, and lead the to the castle, to meet with his sister.

The guards all taking pursuit of Garret had made our escape much easier then I would originary think. It allowed me and the woman to slip past them without too much worry. Despite this, there were still a few of them hot on our trails.

Making our get away through the large complex, I tell the woman, "This way! I know of an exit around here."

We enter a large room, one that I had been to a few times before. This was years ago since my last visit here though. Long before the "incident" that lead to me being force into my current life. Closing the door behind us, I let out a sigh of relief seeing the window where I remember it. Going over towards the window, I look down to see the small stream of water still there.

"Only way out of here now," I tell her as the sounds of guards banging on the door could be heard.

Before she could say yes or no to this, I grabbed her arm as we both jumped from the window. With a very loud splash, the two of us hit the water below hard.
