Erin smiled over at Patrick, studying him with her eyes.

"You know, I could use a night away from 2nd grade writing and math skills" she replied. "Dinner with you would be a perfect evening, I think" she said. "Then we can talk more about when you want to come back".

"Would I need to change into something nicer than jeans and a blouse?" she asked. "If so, if you could run me home real fast..."

"I was thinking of a nice dinner out. I will run you by your place and then we can stop at my place real quick. There is a nice restaurant near my condo. I think you will like it."

He was happy she agreed to go. He wanted to get to know her better, and was happy to spend time with someone so down to earth.

"It will give us time to plan my next visit."

Erin smiled and took the last sip of her coffee.

"That sounds great. I wont need long- just enough time to change my clothes and touch up my makeup" she said. On the outside she was cool and collected but on the inside her stomach was knotted up with nerves.

She hadn't been on a date in what seemed like forever. She spent most of her time either in school or grading schoolwork and making lesson plans. But now she was going out to dinner with a man- and not just any man but her favorite ball player on the O's- her favorite ball player in the MLB actually.

Her heart raced at just the thought of it.

He took a final sip from his defaf coffee, and said, "Ok, great. Let's get going." He stood up and slid her chair out and followed her out the door. He opened the car door for her and took her hand as she slid into the passenger seat. After closing the door he went around and got in the car.

He followed her directions back to her place and pulled into the driveway. "Do you want me to wait here for you?"

Erin's hand tingled where Patrick held it as she got into his car. She had been trying to convince herself earlier not to get too worked up over having coffee with him- it had been strictly business.

But going to dinner with him? At a nice restaurant? That was more like a date. She didn't know what to think.

After directing him to her home, which was set out of the city and more in the suburbs, he asked if he should wait in the car.

"No, no. Come on in, you can chill out in the living room while I change" Erin replied and then led him in.

The house was beautiful, and Erin loved renting it. She had at first, planned on renting just a condo but then she had seen the house and fell in love. She hoped to someday buy it outright.

"Have a seat, I wont be long" Erin told Patrick as she showed him the living room and then headed off to get changed.

Patrick sat down on the sofa. He was impressed at what an incredible house Erin had. Teachers must not be doing too bad. This house beat the hell out of his little condo.

He looked around the room as he waited. She had it decorted really well. It was obvious to him that she had an attention to detail. Then some evil thoughts about paying attention to detail went through his mind.

He brought his mind back to thinking about spending a nice night with the teacher. She was attractive, down to earth, and he really enjoyed being with her. That was why he asked her to dinner. He wanted to be with her more.

Erin hurriedly changed her clothes, picking out a pretty white dress that she rarely had the chance to wear. She loved the dress, and paired it with a pair of black high heeled sandals.

She quickly redid her makeup, putting more emphasis on her eyes than she did during the day, and styled her hair in a kind of messy, but pretty updo. It didn't take her long, only about ten minutes.

She came back out in the living room and Patrick was looking around the house. She smiled.

"I rent this place from a friend's uncle. I was gonna just get a condo somewhere at first, but then I fell in love with this place. I have to stretch my income to afford it but its worth it. I hope to buy it some day" she commented, offhandedly.

When Erin came back in the room he stopped and stared at her. "Wow, you look great. You make that dress look incredible." He had trouble taking his eyes off of her.

"This is a great house. It seems so much bigger than what you need, but you are keeping it in great shape...... just the way you keep yourself." He smiled at her as he stood next to her. "You didn't have to redo your make-up. You looked great before. Although, you look great now too."

Then he leaned down and gave her a little kiss on the cheek. "Ready to go?"

Erin's heart seemed to constantly be stuttering in her chest with every word that Patrick said. And then he kissed her cheek and she nearly swooned.

"Uhm, thanks, and yeah I'm ready if you are" she answered with a smile. Her stomach was twisted in knots- caused by her nerves, but she was anxious to get the date started as well.

"Your place now, right?" she asked as they headed back out to his car.

"Yea, my place now, but don't expect anything s nice as this. My place is just small condo. I wasn't sure what was going to happen in my first year, so, I only bought a small place. It was only me, so, I didn't need much."

They drove the 30 minutes to his place and he obviously wasn't going to leave her in the car, so, he invited her up. He offered her seat in the living room. "Would you like something to drink..... beer, wine, water... anything I have you are welcome to."

Erin smiled over at him as they began to drive towards his place. "I'll let you in on a little secret" she said, whispering playfully. "The only reason I can afford that nice house is because it's my friend's uncle's place. He lets me rent it for practically nothing. He's a very generous man".

They arrived at his condo and Erin smiled. Sure, it was small like he said, but it was impecably clean, and in a great location. "I love it" she said simply as they walked in. "Its awesome".

She sat down on his couch and smiled at him. "Water would be fine for right now. I may have a glass of wine later, during dinner" she said.

Patrick grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator and walked it over to Erin. He handed it to her and let his fingers slide over her palm. "I will be right back. Quick change and off we go."

He turned and went into his bedroom, the only one in the place, and undressed. He decided to jump in th eshower real quick. After rinsing off, he dried off, and picked out a suit to wear. He dressed, but left the shirt collar unbuttoned, and decided not to wear a tie.

He went back into the living room. "Is there anything else you want before we go?"

Erin waited in Patrick's living room, sipping on the water. She studied every detail, trying to get a sense of the man who lived there.

Soon enough, he returned, wearing a suit, the shirt open at the collar, and looking gorgeous. Erin's mouth dried out at the sight and she had to force her thoughts into line. He even smell amazing.

"Wow" she managed to say, and then blushed. "I thought you looked good in a pair of baseball pants, but damn".

Had she really just said that?!?

Her cheeks turned a fiery red and she nearly moaned in embarrassment.

Good grief, what had gotten into her.
