Life always had a way of coming up and biting you on the ass, but to one her life was about to get more complicated. She had come across a man who was very special to her, she met him one year during the summer. Easy to tell he was from England since he had a thick British accent, but she thought it was fun. She stayed in contact with him all this time through writing, but she didn't know how everything would come together. But she was relaxing out in her backyard in her guardian.

It was a nice day it was bright blue outside, though she knew that a storm was coming. But had no idea what today would bring, she heard someone at the door. She wasn't expecting anyone to be here today, so she quickly went into the other room. Pulling her hair out of her face at the same time, smiling happily she wondered who it could be. But before she knew it, she saw someone in black. She couldn't help but start to wonder who, until she saw his face.

"Severus?"

She opened up her door more and was taken back, she showed him inside. Shutting the door behind him, she smiled at him. She hadn't talked to him in a long time, she smiled at him.

"Good to see you" She said thought it was always good to hear from him.

"It is good to see you too." Severus sighed. His trip to America had been tiring, and he was on the verge of falling asleep. "Listen, I must ask you something. Back at Hogwarts, I am a potions teacher as you know." Severus waited to see if she would respond. She only nodded her head. "well, I was wondering, since it is hard teaching potions, while making the potions, and getting all the ingredients, so, I am asking, will you become my assistant?" He stopped, and waited for her response.

Emily heard what he was talking about and stopped what she was doing, when he wanted her to go to Hogwarts with him. Sitting down quietly, she looked up at him and smiled at him. It was amazing how he flew all the way here, just to ask for her to be his assistant. But how could she say no to him? she couldn't, she nodded some. Emily decided to do it.

"Means a lot you coming all the way here to ask me to be your assistant, does the headmaster of Hogwarts know you came here?"

"Albus does not know I am here. If I want an assistant, I just get an assistant, and the school will see if they are fit for the job. And I know you are fit for the job, Emily. You are more fit for it than any one else." Severus stood up, and grabbed his luggage. "If you don't mind, I would like to rest for the day. Could you show me my room?"

Emily smiled at him and nodded and showed him to the guest room, which was across from her own. She always kept this room up in case someone showed up, she showed him inside. "If you need anything Severus let me know" She left the room with his own thoughts and had a big grin on her face, she had missed her friend. She finished her work in the garden and came in about an hour later. Humming softly to herself.

Severus walked into the guest room, politely said thank you, and began unpacking. He was deep in thought. What if she refuses? he thought. He knew he couldn't figure it out. When he was halfway through unpacking, he realized what he was doing. "I am a wizard, and I am not using magic to unpack!" he chuckled to himself. He took out his wand, and began unpacking using magic. He finished very quickly. He then yawned, and collapsed onto the bed. He fell asleep almost instantly.

Emily was deep in thought most of the day but she decided to make some dinner for them, she figured he was in there sleeping. So she put on something simple, some pasta with homemade sauce. The smells coming from the kitchen managed to get under the door and she set the table, she enjoyed making something for people. She got some fresh bread out, got her best dish wear and put some salad in the table. She went over to the door and knocked on the door and opened it.

"Severus? Dinner will be ready in five minutes if your hungry"

Severus was not having a pleasant sleep. His sleep was filled with dreams of how he betrayed Lily Evans. He was sweating, tossing and turning. Thankfully, the smell of something cooking interrupted his sleep. He woke up, the smell lingering in his nose. He then heard a knock, and Emily opened the door. "Severus? Dinner will be ready in five minutes if your hungry. Severus was still half asleep, so he groggily replied. "Thanks. I'll be down soon" he said. He got up, left the room, and headed toward the kitchen.

 

[Mayu]

She sensed something was wrong but didn't ask, she shut the door and finished up. She could hear him around and smiled at the thought. Thinking for a moment she sighed and got the pasta on plates and put them down, looking up when she saw him she smiled. "You had a bad sleep I can tell" She said softly offering him a kind smile in return. "I have always been able to sense things no one else can, not even most wizards and witches comes in handy"

Severus was first surprised that she could tell, then chuckled. "I am amazed that I am amazed. I should have known you could sense this, Emily. You are right, my sleep was filled with nightmares. I had a dream that replayed the death of Lily and James, Harry Potter's parents." He paused, and then remembered something. "Emily, you do know that Harry Potter has me as a potions teacher, don't you?" Before she could answer, Severus remembered something else. "And, you haven't replied to my offer, either."

 

[Mayu]

She put a plate of warm food in front of Severus and smiled at him as she grabbed everything she needed, and put something to drink down some iced tea. And thought about it. "I knew Lily and James Potter, I was six when they died. I had met both of them when I went to London one year, it's when I met Harry I believe he was two at the time. So I doubt he remembers me, but I remember him and his parents like it was just yesterday"

Sitting down beside him she smiled and heard what he said about his offer. "I have been thinking about the offer, something like that takes time. Since it would be me relocating really, but Ive come to an answer for you" She said with a soft look on her face, thinking about how to say it. Sitting back in her chair, she crossed her arms over her chest and silently sighed. Looking down, it looked like she was about to say no. But she smiled.

"Id love to go with you, so yes Severus I'll become your assistant"

"Emily, thank you so much! You will be a wonderful assistant! I can't thank you enough! I think we should head for England within the next two days." Severus could barely hold down his excitement. He ate his food quickly, thanked Emily once again for becoming his assistant, and then said he would be in his room grading work. "If you would like, I could teach you how to grade the work, so you will be prepared for it. If you would like to learn it, come to my room" Severus gave a sigh of refreshment, and hurried off to his room.

She found Severus acting like a child but it was sweet, so she packed up the food put it in the fridge and cleaned up. She decided to check how he was doing, about an hour left she knocked on the door and opened it up. Looking at how much work he had to do, she walked up to him. "decided it would be wise for you to start teaching me professor?" She grinned.

Severus was happy that she agreed to him teaching her. "Well, on all of my tests, there are 25 questions. For each correct question, they get 4% on the test. So, the same thing goes for each wrong question. For each wrong, you subtract 4% from the total percent." He showed her one test. He had already finished grading. "And, I have no correction sheet, so I just use my knowledge of potions to correct. While I am away and you are to correct, I while give you a correction sheet. Do you have any questions about the job so far?" he questioned.

 

[Mayu]

She listened carefully to what he said and smiled, looking at the papers and knew she would need a crash course in what they taught there. "Well I think I'm going to need a crash course in potions that you teach, I'm a quick study. Because any potions I do? are things Ive made up, been making my own potions and spells for years. And in about a month or so I will know every potion you can possibly teach at the school. You know it honors me that you want me to be your assistant, I mean our worlds are so different. Actually that spell book you left, all the spells that the kids are taught? Ive managed to learn them all, wandless. Should probably get my own wand when we get back to your country, so I blend in more"

"Well, once we get back to England, we will go to a wand shop to get you a wand. Oh, I also have a book listing all the potions taught at Hogwarts. They describe them and their ingredients." He looked through his things and found the book. "Here you go! Read it, read it. If what you say is true, then you should be as good as me with potions soon." he handed the book to her, and took a glance at the clock. "Emily, if I am to get any sleep tonight, I must continue grading the tests. I am really sorry, but I must ask you to leave my room for the moment. Why don't you go read the book I gave you?" he suggested. He felt really bad about her having to leave, but he had to grade these tests.

She took the book and nodded slowly standing up she walked on out and turned her head. "Goodnight Severus" She said and shut the door, going to her room. Shutting the door, she decided to get packing for the trip rather it be tomorrow or the day after. Then once packed she sat on her bed and began to read through the book, it was very detailed but noticed it said "Property of the half blooded prince" She smiled figuring that was Severus. She didn't even really notice she fell asleep, she was fast asleep half way through the potion book.

Severus continued grading the tests. It was boring, but he had to do it. He had only a couple of tests left to grade, but before he finished, he nodded off to sleep. But his sleep had dreams of him and Emily working at Hogwarts, and he had never slept better in America.

She woke up very early and she let him sleep, and about eight in the morning she called in some favors to get her a passport and fast. She had never been to a new country, and right now she was looking forward for it. She thought happily, it was really nice that everything could be so calm and perfect. So now that she got it, she started some breakfast. Allowing the smells to go into the room and to silently call to Severus.

Once again, the smell of something cooking awoke Severus. But he didn't mind. He was well rested, and in a cheerful mood, which wasn't common for him. He got out of bed, and saw that he had two tests left to grade. He graded both, and then went to the kitchen. "Something smells wonderful Emily. What are you cooking?" he asked happily.

 

[Mayu]

She smiled as she heard Severus, she turned her head and looked at him with a very kind smile on her face. Thinking for a second she smiled "Just something simple for breakfast, some eggs, bacon. Fresh home made bread" She said happily and was humming happily at the thought. Humming a bit she didn't know what to think about everything, but she began to serve the breakfast. "You seem chipper this morning" She grinned.

"Well, I just had a good nights sleep, and I am excited to get back to England with you as my assistant." Severus began filling his plate with eggs and bacon. "You know Emily, for a powerful witch, I've noticed you like to do things yourself, you know, not using magic. Why so?" he asked while taking a bite of bacon. "Also, this bacon is delicious! It amazes me how you have such amazing magic abilities, and you cook well!" Severus exclaimed.

 

[Mayu]

She smiled looking at him and thought about it for a moment, relaxing back in the chair she spoke. "Well Severus our worlds are very different, here in America. Some don't believe in witches and wizards, magic is more of a choice then something your born with. Least that is what some people say, but magic has been a part of me since I was three. I started magic when I was three, I wasn't like a normal child playing with fire. I was pretty careful for a three year old. But I don't know, just use to doing everything without magic. Keeps me busy, cooking and magic are the two things in my life. Well so are you now" She said happily.

"Well, hard work is a virtue!" Severus gave a hearty laugh. He then became serious. "Now, Emily, do you have your passport? I have mine, and if you have yours, then we could leave today if you would like." "But, before we get into that, let's finish eating. do you have anything to drink?" he asked politely.

She nodded she knew she forgot something, but instead of getting up. Since he made a comment about not using magic for a lot of things, she sat back thinking of a spell and snapped her fingers. Tea the way he liked it appeared on the table in front of them, two glasses. Grinning she looked at him "Yes I had to get my passport updated, I did that while you were asleep, since before we met I spent a lot of time out of the country, never been to England but Ive been to Russia, Japan and China. Where I learned there language and there magic up there, one thing about folks in Asia they are very dramatic up there with there magic" She giggled.
