Happy Hour in Litland Revamped

Absinthe. Hey I'm all about that. But after my dinner wine, I've had a couple of Rye Manhattans. Kind of a go-to for me. Made these with 6 year rye, Antica vermouth, Amaro and Turkish Tobacco bitters. My current fav.

I share your passion for rye. I enjoy the sharper, spicier favour notes of rye as compared to the slow gentle burn of a bourbon. Given the choice, I'll take an Old Fashioned over its sweeter Manhattan cousin. Cheers!
I make Old Fashioneds with Rye as well. My little twist is that I use homemade maple syrup instead of simple syrup. Some don't, but I like to muddle the orange slice and cherry in the shaker before adding other ingredients and shaking. Since I have a lot of maple syrup around, I use it as a sweetener in a lot of cocktails. Cheers.

Me and my makeshift Margarita. No lemon, so improvised with honey on the rim to hold the salt 🙃

The other day was a BBQ day. Brisket, smoked low and slow over charcoal. I was sipping Elijah Craig Small Batch bourbon all day along.

Last night I was sipping on a lovey lager. "Earth, Wind versus Fire" by Establishment Brewing. A rich malty beer with a kiss of honey and citrus notes. Lovely indeed.

Enjoying my final glass of wine after a fine meal of homemade tacos. The wine in question is a 2021 Argentinian Malbec from Luigi Bsoca, a gift from a dinner guest last week. Deep garnet colour with a nose of black cherries. The palette is medium bodied with a light finish. Hints of spice (cloves and all spice, think winter mulled wine) dominate the wine.

I can't let you drink alone. Clyde Mays Alabama Style Whiskey over an ice ball. (Halfway thru #2)

A mid afternoon tipple, Romero's Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Rum.
I decant the rum into a second bottle with a handful of vanilla pods and let that age for a few months. Enjoy neat. You're welcome.

A gifted bottle of wine always tastes a little better than a purchased one. Tonight I'm drinking a 2022 Pinot Noir from Couvent Des Jacobines in Bourgogne. Ruby red colour with notes of cherry and spice and a dry finish thanks to some well developed tannins.

Shiner Bock in the pool. Probably the last week it will be open.

Steaks on the grill and a rich, nutty stout in my glass. On tap is a Vietnamese Coffee Stout from 88 Brewing. Dark, creamy, nutty notes with a rich chocolate finish.
Cheers Perverts!
