Europe and the UK have VAT’s built into their goods; Canada has a Goods & Services Tax as well as a Health Services Tax in most Provjnces.

There’s something to be said for user-pay consumption taxes…. Trump simply prefers to pretend “others” will be paying it.

Step 1: Order something from eBay for cheap
Step 2: When the package shows up, pay the mail person for the additional (25%+) custom duty

Grocery Stores charge for “shelf space” and “ end displays”, always have.

As the world’s largest consumer economy, i see no issue with the US wanting companies to “pay to play” … that’s what tariffs and duties are, they’re entry fees, taxes.

It’s the whimsy of it that will ultimately harm the usa’s standing in the world and its people.
