Harmful Honeymoon (closed)
Name: Hal Terinfax
Age: 25
Race: Half-orc (goblin and orc)
Hal sighed as he stood at the altar. He felt the eyes of the bride's side of the church burrowing into his green back He adjusted his tie and breathed slowly as he waited for his bride to proceed down the aisles. Hal tried to focus on the sound of the organ and not how his feet barely fit inside the shoes he had been given and how he wanted to tear the suit he was wearing off and run out of the church naked till he got to his mount and rode off.
Hal knew he had to be there though. The war between the Goblinoid-drow alliance and the "fair races"had raged for decades and only recently ended after several grueling battles had finally made the two sides sue for peace. As with most pecae agreements, the subject of marriages was brought up and two dozen marriages were planned between children of the leaders of both sides. Hal's mother had run most of the weapon production for the Goblinoid side and his father had been an orc chief on the western front, making Hal, their only unmarried child, a prime candidate. Hal, who had fought in several battles, tried to fight it with all his might, citing orc law not allowing arranged marriages but his family had won in the end by simply sending his sister and her daughter to visit him. Hal's sister had been crippled when a surprise attack collapsed a tower on her and she barely had time to cover her daughter. Now, confined to a wheelchair and her daughter suffering from a severe case of claustrophobia, Delia was a reminder about what could happen if the war continued.
That didn't mean Hal went easy. He refused to meet his new bride or find out anything about her. Not that he had much of an opportunity since their parents had met only once before the marriage and the entire ceremony had been planned by a committee. Instead of a quick orc ceremony, they had elected an overly long human ceremony since the races had agreed humans were good mediators. He hoped his bride was just as annoyed at this, whatever people she belonged to. Hal had even been denied a proper bachelor party, as the committee didn't want to give him a chance to run. He had instead spent the night locked in his bedchamber, being forced to practice wearing a tie.
Of course the main thing that bothered Hal was what would happen after the ceremony. As he had been reminded by everyone, the main purpose of the marriage was to make babies. How could he raise a child in a loveless marriage, much less couple with someone who may very well have been wishing he would take a fireball to the face no less than a month ago?
The organ changed its tune and Hal heard the assembled mas rise. The Half-orc straightened his 5'10 frame and sighed again as he turned to see his bride.
