Yes, you are right. For those who require a more detailed explanation - the material Universe does not possess the exactitude of Euclidean Geometry definitions in any segmented physical example of itself: there are no exactly straight lines, no actual 'points,' no perfect triangles. These things are all 'invisible pinciples.' But they have great reality in the expressions of form and energy and movement OF physical matter. Especially in how we manipulate things.

There has however, always been a philosophical debate over whether the Universe of Euclidean elements is more true, or IS Truth, compared to the experienced material Universe. The consequentially-defined 'truth' argument - that Hypoxia is portraying - is by no means invalid though regardless of whether one says there is a Truth as in a Euclidean form of it, or just the material consequential reality in which there need not be any absolutist 'perfect' and unchanging 'truth.' The two things do not naturally exist together at the same time by nature or IN Nature.

Euclidean truth never of course, changes.

But neither does it have a physical material, natural reality.

But to revert to the OP - do I think there are ET's? Yeah of course there are. I do not believe any intelligent advanced aliens ever crashed a 'vehicle' though. Not unintentionally, anyway. I can only comment on the reports about these things from other people, and on what I make of the popular folklore about it all.

What's the point of asking whether anyone 'encountered' an ET? Anyone who had and who had categorical proof and evidence, would be on worldwide international news services and rapidly taken away to that special base in New Mexico which the government has set up for this. Or the other one in Denver. LOL. (I got that off Assange.)

Another spin on truth: Above quantum scale, the universe is an analog device, with continuously variable phenomena. Digital models impose discrete, discontinuous overlays that we find convenient to monitor and manipulate. We find digital computers and sensors more convenient and generally usable than instantaneous (speed-of-electrons, anyway) but imprecise analog tools. Zillions of wee digital time-slices trace most analog curves sufficiently.

Digital computing is built on a binary, black-white vision of reality. Something is true or false; no other options exist. But 20th century physics encompasses incompleteness and uncertainty, much better modeled by the Jain seven-fold logic: Rather than only true or false, any statement can be evaluated as some combination of maybe true or maybe false or maybe unknowable, giving seven possible fuzzy states.

Is anything *absolutely* true? Well, maybe... :D

PS: I've seen the seven-fold logic expanded to 31 possible states by adding two more terms: maybe trivial (like 1=1) and maybe irrelevant (like armadillos living in another galaxy). Much more interesting than that tedious binary stuff.

Ah yes, the things that Fuzzy Logic can do. Lately, I've seen it applied to many subjects right here at Lit. Including one thread that ended up with Fuzzy Fuzzy Logic. :D

Better pubescent than ********** prepubescent logic. (In botany, pubescent means fuzzy, like leaves and stems and stuff. Think petunias.)

On that note we have goodies like: 1+1=3 for large enough values of 1.

I love logics. So many are possible, and they merely need be self-consistent, not necessarily connected to any outside reality. How many angels can sit on the head of a pin? (Easy. Measure pinhead, and angel's ass, then divide X by Y.) If orange is the new purple, what's the new chartreuse? (I often wish I was color-blind.) If we count a tail as a leg, how many legs does a dog have? (Solution is left to the student.) All answers have some sort of logic behind them. Twisted, maybe, and that's the best kind.

Yes, we can build logics with any terms and rules we wish. Think of object-oriented programming, where a logical object consists of 1) a set of data and 2) a set of rules for manipulating said data. It gets fun when the rules are also data and can be changed in-flight. AKA Making It Up As We Go Along. A self-reprogramming logic system. Isn't that how conservative politics works?

Wait, this thread was supposed to be about encountering ETs. Do Reptilioid Republicans count? I sweat some leading pols are non-human. Break out the DNA swabs, folks, and check that we don't elect A Thing From Another Planet.
