Have you noticed BDSM in the mainstream?

There's a movie out there called "Meet the Spartans" which spoofs most of the recent big movies and pop culture besides. Killer funny in spots, not so much in others. (If you see it, stay for the bit after the credits.) But anyway, there's a whole BDSM schtick going on with Xerxes and the nipple clips and the staple gun.

It's not so much mainstream as rock industry. Its an industry which has always used mild shock value to get an edge. To get a new song noticed. Very important as its one of the most fickle industrys out there. You are either at the top or you are nobody. Millionare or unemployable. Never just a good worker as you are if you are a doctor or a tradesman.

Elvis used this shock value as early as the sixties with his mild gyrating. Shocking then even if it wouldn't turn a hair now, the TV stations got around it by filming him waist up at all times but the girls loved it. A male sex symbol openly flirting and flaunting. It was a first.

Keith Richards, Black Sabbath, and Bob Marley were all open and up front about drugh usage for the same reason.

And now, becasue open sexuality do longer contains that shock value rock stars resort toa little simulated BDSM to get the attention of an audience so overstimulated that they have become bored with everything.

I think someone mentioned this one...

I think someone mentioned Family Guy, but I just saw this episode where stuie learns he can be spanked by acting out, and after realizing he "is one of thos people who is into that sort of thing" he decides to misbehave more so it can happen again...

I was laughing really hard when the baby did some thing bad and was like, "don't you wanna spank me, or rub my face in the dirt, degrade me" then the layed on the ground and spead his little legs and said "STEP ON MY CUBES"...

Its priceless...

Family Guy has a wealth of references. I'm still amazed at some of the things they get away with even as I'm laughing.

Like, Yeah, Maaaaan...

That's deep...

LOL.

We are all mainstream man... the whole world is mainstream...

Whoa... Dude...

*spaces out*

Pass that shit man...

i do noticed those thing that is why bdsm is part of our daily lifestyle b ut it so happen that we didn't noticed it that much.

lately it seems that it's becoming very fashionable ..no that's not the right word.. prevalent.. in our office.

We have Malin and myself, our friend D., my teammate D., Malin's gf, and one of the new hires is a Domme with 4 slaves at home. We know there's one other, but no one's outted him yet.

And there are only 135 consultants right now...

On tonight's episode of Shark the red herring suspect had a dungeon in his basement. Of course he was the stereotypical ass and he was referred to as "whacko" (Note to Hollywood there are well adjusted Doms in this world!) He did have a nice selection of floggers hanging in the background though. Nothing in comparison to EG's, but still a nice one. I never thought I would be attracted to something pink, but the pink flogger was pretty! :D

it carried over into Criminal minds. The serial killer is a heterosexual, transvestite sadist who kills his victims after days of keeping them in a dungeon and torturing them with electricity.

Hmmm...sounds like CBS is aiming for some higher ratings.

1. I recently went to see a modern ballet show...there were several acts, showing various sides of human existence, and one was entitled "Violent Sex".
All the dancers (men and women) except the main character were dressed in black leather and there was also a dominatrix, wearing a latex catsuit and mask and wielding a flogger.

2. At Kylie Minogues's "X" tour - in the opening act all the dancers are dressed in black leather and she acts like a Domme. At one time two of the dancers knelt on all fours and she sat on their backs..
