This post was originally written by Salty_Sailor. I will reply to this and then he and I will go back and forth.
I jumped out of the car, slamming the door shut. Sighing a little to myself. It was hard to imagine being here, her wedding day. I'm not ready for this. I had seen it coming a long way off, and yet even with so much time to prepare, there was no amount of thinking, lamenting or alcohol that would make me mentally stable today. I turned back to the rental car, adjusted my tie in the reflection, and tried really hard not to get back inside and drive away. Straightening up, I then had to try equally hard not to sprint to the nearest bushes and vomit all of the 'light lunch' that had been proffered at the rehearsal.
It had all started out so simply. Thinking back, I'm not even sure how she came in to our little group of friends. Suddenly she just seemed to be there, she had appeared in their midst. Had she come in as his girlfriend initially, or had she found her way into their group before she had found him? The timeline was getting so fuzzy in my head. I knew that there had been a party. Perhaps it all led back to the party. At least, there were certain parts of their history that suddenly became inextricable after said party. All roads lead to that night?
It was a late night, they had been chatting, hanging out. Someone even fired up the karaoke machine. Most of the night was a blur. I could barely remember many of the details...who I had danced with, who's house it had been. I couldn't even remember what season it had been...Summer? It must have been summer, we were on the deck. We had snuck off the deck...
It must have been summer...a warm summer's evening. After dancing together to one too many songs, and drinking one too many cocktails, she had taken his hand and lead the way off that fateful porch. I think it was an orchard? Or had they wandered along the beach?
I do remember what came later though. Her body was pressed against my torso. My shirt was somehow unbuttoned and she pressed herself into me. She was looking up at me and then, innocently, she started kissing my chest, up across my collar to the side of my neck. Then her lips were on mine, and our tongues were intertwined. My hands were all over her body, caressing, squeezing, massaging. Eventually I was helping her out of her clothes. And then I was fucking her from behind, she was bent over a park bench, moaning in the moonlight.
It had been awkward for a while after that, it was hard for us to see eachother in public. I had fucked his girlfriend. I couldn't let him find out. We had tried hard to avoid one another. But it was inevitable, and it was awkward. We couldn't talk to eachother too well, for we were sure that it would show that something had happened between us. And yet something had happened between us. Something unforgettable. It hung in the air between us. It was obvious from her look, glances, comments, that she hadn't forgotten it either. Was she as hungry for more as I was? It was hard to tell, and yet I almost didn't want to see her alone again. What if she just said no...it wasn't anything for her. It was a drunken mistake at some party. And now, she was getting married.
My mind bounced from place to place in this history, in our history. I tried hard to focus. I straightened the tie again. I realized that I was bent over the hood of the rental car. I didn't remember doing it, but I stood carefully and walked a lap around the car. I took a deep breath, pasted a wide smile across my face, and headed towards the double doors.
