Herbal Remedies

I recently tried someone's advice to make a rice sock for muscle pain. It worked GREAT.

But then I got the idea (like so many others before me have done) to add a few drops of essential oil in with the rice. Once warmed, the mixture gives off a real nice aroma.

I've tried eucalyptus and rosemary together (wow) and also lavender and peppermint for my husband who's been having a rough time with life lately. It helped him sleep and he didn't once wake me up with the bad dreams we expected from him.

Oh yes, I'm am sooo addicted to essential oils now.

Could you please give more details on what a rice sock is?

Up there you asked about remedies for headaches. In The Green Pharmacy, James Duke recommends a number of herbs and preparations, depending on the type of headache. For instance, he highly recommends feverfew for migraines. He also talks about bay, willow, evening primrose, garlic, ginger, ginko, red pepper, lemon balm, peppermint, purslane, tansy, thyme, and turmeric.

The cheesy version:

Open sock.
Insert enough rice to make it firm yet flexible. (personal preference works here)
In my happy case, add a few drops of essential oil.
Tie really really good knot in end of sock.
Place rice sock in microwave for a minute or so.
(depending on wattage, mine really sucks so I have to put it in for 2)
Enjoy the relaxing sensations of the rice sock on sore muscles.

Don't say rice sock too fast or people with dirty minds (like everyone here) will think you're saying Rice Cock.

At my website I have suggestions for an herbal first aid kit

Managed to convince a friend of mine in HS that eating a ton of lemons right from the rind a week before yoru period would delay it by a few days. She was expecting hers for the prom. Total BS and she now knows that for herself..lol
