You could be right, but it just goes to show that even someone as revered as Silver can be wrong about something he is actually very good at.

A single party system is far more likely to throw up diverse ranges of opinions and ideologies than a duopoly like most of the western world has.

Adre clearly does not understand the Trump base.
At this point, they have vanquished their first enemy, they are highly motivated, regard what he saying now as what he has to do to placate the squishy moderate, vote for the man middle and as such he is not going to lose his dedicated base. I work with some of these people and they are not talking about Trump, they are talking about the Clinton emails, the Foundation scandal and the drubbing they expect Trump to give her in the debates. Their focus is on their second enemy.
I think he should stop projecting his hopes and dreams.
I sure as hell did after he clinched the nomination with me predicting that at every turn, he was about to go down.

I have to admit, eeyore, I couldn't have been more wrong about the betting advice I gave to that bloke, even though I still think he'll lose the bet. Trump's chances of winning the election are a lot better than I thought they were when he first announced he was running. No bookie in the world is offering 66 to 1 now.
I'm not sure what my batting average here is, but Trump has lowered it once, and may lower it again. We shall see.

I went looking for that thread because I remembered my own post in it -- didn't recall my exact words, but I knew it was something along the lines of "Trump isn't worth taking seriously." And even now, you still see people wondering if he's going to drop out. (I don't think he will, but pre-emptively saying the election has been rigged will spare him the unbearable shame of having to admit he lost.)
I know exactly where I made my mistake too, a mistake I've made many times before even though I have no excuse at this point for not knowing better: I gave Republican voters too much credit for common sense.
No need to be modest now, touby - how many times out of 10 do you estimate you're right?

Actually I do. They're mostly white. The majority of them ended their education at or before high school graduation. Many of them believe they've been dealt a bad hand and it's someone else's fault. They are definitely not happy that America is browning up. They think Trump will help them and many believe he actually cares about them. They've put their money on a narcissistic billionaire self proclaimed populist who has stiffed vendors, business partners, wives, and colleagues whenever it has been in his self interest. He will stiff them just as surely. I wish them well.
According to the USC/LA Times poll Trump is actually doing best with people who have some college education, not those with only a high school education or less. It's only one poll, but I see no reason to think it's inaccurate in that regard.
