That's a ridiculous stretch of what Carson said. Pathetic.
Carson then said that Trump had promised him a role in his administration, “certainly in an advisory capacity.”
Federal crime, right there.

Not even close.
So, 2bob, give us your considered opinion of why this isn't a crime.
It's not illegal for presidents to have advisors. Duh.
It's illegal to offer jobs for endorsements.
Correct. Jobs.
“the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy.”
Try again.
I don't think Trump will get Ohio tonight. Which means he will probably not get the nomination..tonight.
Being an advisor is not a job, or a position, under the law..
Sounds like a job to me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:United_States_presidential_advisors

2bob shot himself in the foot. Again.
2bob is right no matter what the conversation. Damn your facts.

You obviously don't know shit about American politics. Being an advisor is not a job, or a position, under the law. Candidates discuss who they will rely on for advice all the time if they are elected. In fact, it is demanded of them by the news media that they do so.
Don't hold your breath waiting for an indictment.
There will be no indictment. But being an advisor, is an official job position.
Not necessarily. Presidents have many advisors. It's not illegal to have advisors.
