I have a question that will aid me in a story I am writing. :) It's a minor detail that I personally have no knowledge on, but I always seek as much realism as I can in my tales. That means getting the small details correct. ;)

I need to know how football pants are fastened. As in, American Football. Bears, Eagles, Packers, and so on. Is it like a drawstring kind of thing? I highly doubt it's a zipper like with jeans.

Also, are they simply called "football pants"? I mean, I know it's part of a uniform and all, but do the pants have a special name to them?

they are fastened like a bustier but over the crotch of the guy and i'm not sure what the name of the pants are but hope it helps and i would love to know when your done w/the story i'm crazy interested now
 
Thank you very much. :) If I get this damn thing done, it'll be part of the Halloween contest. The title I'm shooting for is A Game of Tricks and Treats. ;)
 
By the way, is there any kind of "draw string" or whatever at the top of the pants or are there only clasps the whole way up? I don't know why, but I had an image in my mind of a "corset" string pattern going up the crotch of the pants. :confused:
 
I was curious by the question, so I did a little bit of checking.... just typed in "football uniforms" and googled it. I looked at 3 or 4 different sites, but all of the pants I found were pretty similar to the ones on this page. this site just happened to have what I thought was the best pic. lace-up fly. hmmm.... seems pretty impractical to me, I guess it's a good thing they have so much time at half-time to piss. ;)

It's been a long time, but mine did lace up in the front. Like shoestrings.
