He got into the car and started it up then he looked over at her, "We`re going to a place called The Chestnut Bar and Diner. It's an old place but pleasant."
He shook his head but managed to keep a calm face. This would be nearly impossible to live with Essence. How did one teach a non-human to be human. It's like teaching a dog how to think like a fish.
He lead her through the front door and walked into the bar. The L shaped interior had a bar counter on one side of the wall, while the other had tables and chairs.
He sat down at an empty table and waited for his friend to arrive.
She sat down by him still a little recoiled into herself but she moved to reach a hand out to him to try to make sure everything was alright. She bit her lip but she smiled as well looking to him. Her eyes seeming to shimmer in the dim light as she searched his face hoping she would not mess up again when his friends got here.
He leaned back in the seat while he waited for his friend to arrive.
He didn't have to wait long. Within a few minutes, the door opened and Jason walked in with his girl friend. He was wearing a grey hoodie and worn blue jeans, the usual urban fasion that Jason was into. He was about 6'2" and musculer with brown eyes and brown curly hair. His girlfriend was the typical cheerleader type girl.
Jason smiled, "Hey there old buddy. How are you doing?" He paused as his eyes shifted towards Essence, "And who is this lovely lady?"
She smiled biting her lip a little at being called lovely lady and curled closer against him for comfort and reassurance as his friends walked over. She smiled to them...
He wrapped his arm around Essence and pulled he close to him whilhe spoke to Jason, "So what have you been up to lately?"
Jason sat down and grinned at him, "Enjoying life. The party was great. At first I was surprised when you didn't want to come along," his gaze shifted towards Essence, "But now I know why."
Avellan nodded then grabbed two menus, handing one to Essence, "So what does everyone want to eat?"
He nodded and waved over the bartender once everyone else had pick what they had wanted.
The bartender, who's name was Phil, was the perfect idea of a medievil bartender. He was a fat, jolly man with brown facial hair, who always knew how to make people feel better and laugh. "What can I get you ladies and gents?"
"I`ll have the New York Steak, well done." he said as he waited for Jason and everyone else to order.
She smiled to the man remembering him setting some of the trout out when she was in feline form. The people at this place were always so generous with the stray population.
The bartender writes down the orders then walks off towards the kitchen. Sighing in content, he leans back and wraps his arms around Essence and whispers to her, "So, how are you feeling so far?"
She nodded and for a moment snuggled close for a little added strength and support before the food arrived. Glancing to the waiter knowing which one was headed to their table by scent alone and smiled.
She sat there eating waiting for the questions if there were any more or to just listen to them all talk. Looking around from time to time still finding it strange to be in here in human form but smiled. She could get used to living more as a human especially with someone with her that seemed to care so much.
"We have our own life to attend to. We're adults and therefore have jobs, so we can't spend much time together. Plus, we've been with him for about an hour and a half."
