'Urabi revolt

Also known as the ʻUrabi Revolution, it was a nationalist uprising in Egypt from 1879 to 1882, led by and named for Colonel Ahmed ʻUrabi and sought to depose the Khedive Tewfik Pasha and end British and French influence over the country. The uprising was ended by an Anglo-Egyptian War and takeover of the country. It resulted in British rule over Egypt.
 
Zenobia, wife of Odaenathus, assumes the role of Regent of the Palmyrene Kingdom in 267 AD upon the death of her husband, as their son Vaballathus was too young to reign. Zenobia expanded the kingdom of Palmyra into an empire.
