The Definitive Deak Taylor
Right, folks!
Unless anyone has any objections, below is Deak's history:
Edward Taylor and the first wife lived in Europe with her parents.
For a long while, they had been tried for a baby with no result. Along came John Carmody with baby Deak.
However, that was not the end of their troubles.
His wife, an emotionally weak and physically frail woman, was still heavily influenced (if not controlled) by her strong-willed parents, to the point that they were interfering in their lives on a daily basis (especially with Deak’s upbringing). For a long time, Edward had tried to put up with this. However, if there was ever a disagreement, his wife always sided with her parents.
Finally he had a job opportunity in America (they were in Europe) which he wanted to accept and take his family with him. But Mrs Taylor would not leave her parents. In the end, although it broke his heart, he realised that he could never win and so went on his own. Eventually, he divorces her when he meets Marie.
Deak was left to be raised by his mother and his grandparents. His mother never got over Edward leaving. First she was just bitter but that quickly grew into hatred (with the help of her parents).
Not surprisingly that in that sort of environment, Deak turned out hating his father and blaming him for all their troubles.
Then about a year ago, his mother committed suicide. In a letter that she left Deak, she explained the "real" reason why his father had left them. That Deak is not their real son. That once they adopted him, his father decided he didn’t want him and tried to force her to give him up. When she wouldn’t, he left taking all their savings with him and that leaving her had broken her heart.
Of course, this made Deak hate his father even more, to the point that he wanted revenge. He got his grandmother to contact Edward and tell him what had happened. That Deak wanted to go over to America to start a new life. Of course Edward, now married to Marie, wanted to help and offered to put him up.
************
That was how Deak is living with his father’s new family in Fair Harbor. However, he still wants revenge on his father on what he has done to his mother but he is patient and so a year quickly goes by as he gets his new family to love him.
Now he starts taking out his revenge.
Marie Taylor He knows how much Edward loves his stepmother, Marie. He also knows how lonely she is due to his long absences. So he goes after her. The resulting encounter(s) (that's up to you, MT) leaves her pregnant (contraception is unsophisticated in 1942 and I can’t see Deak bothering to wear a condom). He plans to use this against Edward.
Maisy Taylor The only thing he doesn’t bank on is that his feelings for Edward’s stepdaughter, Maisy. He is jealous of her and Frank’s relationship (hence why he is trying to break them up).
Maggie Sinclair When he finds out that he is heir to the Sinclair fortune, of course he takes advantage of it. Though he will most likely harbour resentment towards Maggie (his mother) for (in his eyes) rejecting him. Faith, we will need to work out how they meet and how they find out about Deak's true identity.
The war As you see in my posts, he is already involved with shady individuals. He may even be involved with organisations working towards undermining America's involvement in the war (though I am still working on this).
