Julie and Kevin grew up in Portland, Maine. A gloomy nearly constantly overcast small town with the homey feel of middle America. They started as neighbors, getting thrown together for playdates from the age of five. As they grew up they became lifelong friends. Going through everything together from school, to the death of family members and such.
In high school, they remained friends but their interests started to separate them. Kevin wanted to open a restaurant, even from a young age he loved to cook and was fantastic at it. Julie insisted that he had been the man that gave her her first orgasm by food.
To the wonder of their families Julie and Kevin never hooked up sexually or romantically. Though there had always been a kind of hidden heat between them. For one reason or another it simply never happened. Julie eventually met a guy in college who she feel in love with and moved away to New York so she could be with him.
Kevin opened his restaurant. His life plan going exactly how it was supposed to. His restaurant quickly became one of the most famous places in Maine to eat, serving fresh seafood and good old fashion comfort foods. He was featured on Travel channel, and countless articles in local papers. Things were good.
Sadly for Julie things weren't so hot. After six years of marriage, her life crumbled. Her husband Clark had wanted kids, he had been insanely obessed with having kids, which Julie agreed with but after two years of trying things just didn't happen. Clark turned out to have an extremely low sperm count, and he refused to adopt or even accept that the problem was his. His ignorance and ego forced a wedge in their marriage and three years later Julie and Clark divorced.
For lack of better ideas Julie decided to move back home, as her business could be run online and she could do it anywhere. There was no place like home, even a gloomy small town like Portland. Plus maybe part of her wanted to see Kevin again. After all his restaurant was famous.
