She's on her way to pick us up to watch her skydive. I have very mixed feelings about this. Catch you guys later!

Did she do it at the place in Waller or near the coast?

There is something in the works for the skydivers to jump from a balloon.

Hello peeps. How's your Sunday been?
Hello charmed. My day was great. Woke up early, went to breakfast then stood in line to get in at Minute Maid at 9:30am for a game that didn't start until 1:15. But it was all worth it. :)

Who won?

I spent the day shopping for school clothes and shoes.

The Stros won 6-4. And I got my Biggio figurine to bookend with the Bagwell figurine at my office. It was interesting to say the least in the lines outside the stadium. A lady in front of me and a lady behind me were both ready to kick anyone's ass if they tried to cut in line. Then a family of four tried to cut in. The lady in front quickly made them get out of the line. Then as we moved closer a couple of guys tried to sneak in and the lady behind quickly called security to push them to the side.

The gates opened at 11. I got my figurine and was in my seat by 11:07. By 11:20 I saw people coming in without anything so I guess all 10,000 were given out within 20 minutes.

Wow! Sounds like it was busier than they thought it'd be up there. Good thing you got there early.

Must be the place near the coast. We drove way out 288 and exited around Rosharon. I was impressed with the place.

My daughter said she'd like to try ballooning. Her exact words, "People aren't as likely to die from ballooning, are they?"

TFG says that he is ready to go skydiving.

Less likely to die is right. There are more car accidents on the way to balloon than there are ballooning accidents.

At least they had it more controlled at the gate and once you got inside. They gave you the figurine and tshirt immediately after you entered. For the Bagwell figurine, they made you get in another line inside and that tailed all the way around the stadium as well.

I do want to go skydiving AND ballooning. I have a plan to get both done at the same time. I will go up in the balloon and jump out once we get high enough.

I plan on going to the Ballunar thing on Friday the 24th, right after work. Anyone else thinking about going?

Let me get this straight.

The museum thing is THIS coming weekend, right?

And the balloon thing is the following weekend and then the next weekend is Labor Day weekend.

Went & saw Stardust this afternoon & then ate the hell out of a fish. Nice day. Hope everybody else is cruising along....
BTW, I saw an unusually large sun dog around 7:00ish this evening. Did anyone else spot that?

We need a calendar in this thread.

Museum is on the 18th.

Ballunar is 24-26. (I am very likely going on Friday Night the 24th)

Labor Day is the next weekend.

Oh and Tax free weekend is next weekend. :D

I nominate Fun Guy as our calendar guy...

except we all know that once football season starts (for real), that's probably what's going to be on every weekend for a few months.

Go Texans! :nana:

I don't know what a sun dog is. What is it?

That is the one weekend you can bet I won't be at the mall!

8.5% just isn't worth the long lines and bickering.

It has been my experience that the clothing sales are better prior to that tax-free time.

"A sun dog or sundog (scientific name parhelion, plural parhelia, e.g. "with the sun") is a relatively common halo, an atmospheric optical phenomenon mostly associated with the refraction of sunlight by small ice crystals making up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sundog
It was a big 'un.

I try to list several different options to cover everyone's interests. Let me know if I miss anything.

I bet someplace would offer to pay you in teapots.
But I like iced tea, not hot tea.

Besides, I never take anything away from Fort Knox when I visit. In fact I think I have left more behind than I have taken.

you'll bypass it even for a shoe sale?!?!

Without a doubt!

The scene will be ugly. I don't need that!
well true....I guess you're right - seen too many fights on the news when a store opens cause someone said they were first in line - geez not like there is only one pair of fancy shoes to pick from LOL
