Houston, Tx Rollcall

A few people here really like the casual Niko-Nikos in Montrose (near Westheimer). That's a fairly central location to meet for some good food, drink and conversation.

IWC has been trying to get us over to the Museum area.

There are tons of places really. Somebody throw out some more ideas and see what sticks.

Somey as the queen of littogethers, I'm gonna be coming to you for advice so be prepared if this gets off the ground :)

Are you talking about the greek food at Niko's or another Niko's?

I like the Mercury Room and Europa. I heard the Red Door was good too. I was also impressed with the rejuvenated downtown club spots. Very clean. Very hoppin'! Man, I am going to miss going to those places. My boyfriend has had it with me and I think it's over. Damn! He sure knew how to show me a good time. I am definetly in withdrawal. (miss the big lug!) But, I digress. Yes, let's party. I am in my late thirties but " they " say I look much younger. I usually date younger men too. So, any of you houstonians want to help me heal a broken heart?

BTW, Kemah is ok. Are there any hot spots there? Last time I went, it was mostly food and a choo choo train.

Yes, someplace is talking about Niko Niko's. I think I've gotten them hooked on it. I like their food - inexpensive and yummy but would like something with more "mingling" than what Niko's has to offer.

Any suggestion on something to do after that?

I suggested Kemah since the weather will be getting nice. I've not checked out the ride sort of stuff, but another Litster told me how much they enjoyed it when they went. I really don't think the choo choo is our cup of tea. Even on our best behavior, I envision us getting kicked off!

Although there are some nice music venues, I would prefer a place where you can hold a conversation without much difficulty. The attraction to me will be the other guests and I don't want to have to scream to be heard.

Oooh Downtown! I've been looking for an excuse to drag Bluebie downtown to check out all the new action down there. I had lunch at the Cuban place across the street from the Rice Hotel the other day. Main Street looks so nice (and it's fun watching the electric train go back and forth).

Okay all, this has been batted about in private messages and on other threads for a little while. They are planning a DFW littogether and silly me made the comment that traveling was not in my near future. BB decided that means I should plan the next Houston one.

I would love to come out to Houston, if this all works out...

What are the Littogethers like? Do people like to talk and mingle, or just use it to get out of the house to see the sights? I personally like to talk in an intimate setting and meet people.

There are several quiet places where people can mingle. Could be a formal event involving the arts, such as a gallery or museum, or a casual gathering at a place like St. Arnolds. I have done events at St. Arnolds, brought in BBQ from Goode Co., and had a band perform. If we have people who would like to perform, others to cook, and people do not mind throwing in a few bucks, something grand could be done. I have even been to events where a Zoo Party was done. Lots of fun. I just do not know what the barometer is like for the general expectations to bring litters out. How many people are we talking about. I have time lately. I could help.

I'm so proud of my newbie. :)

I think your ideas sound like good fun. The biggest problem is getting people to go through with the commitment. Many have expressed interest but didn't show up for various reasons.

How complicated is it to pull off the Zoo Party?

The zoo doesn't serve alcohol, nor is there a comfy place to sit.

Are you trying to say that people can't tolerate me without alcohol in their system?

:(

Perhaps I shouldn't take it personally...

I am saying that most people will want a few drinks. And I want them to have those drinks...;)

I like you just fine and I don't even own any beer goggles.:rose:

I would say time it so the most locals can come and not worry about Dallas. No one from there would come anyway.

But weren't you thinking about heading to the dallas one?

If I have to choose it will be this one. The only way I will go to the Dallas one is if I am there already when it happens.

For me, March is heavily booked. I'm glad you didn't choose then!

I'm hoping to have a new job by the end of feb soooo I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be training in march :)

Whenever is good for you is when we should have it. You should know though that by tradition the parties are usually clothing optional.

I will defiantely be using the option to have clothing on then ;)
