Houston, Tx Rollcall

Okay guys need some advice here. In a weeks time I have to head downtown Polk street to be exact. I have to be there at 8 am whcih means traffic traffic traffic. Last time I went down there I went all the way down westheimer . . took a looong time.

Can anyone tell em the eastest way to get from katy, governers place area to polk street, or should I just bite the bullet and leave here about 5 am?

Westheimer is NEVER the answer!

I've never made the drive from Katy at that hour. I know that I-10 stacks up. I'd be hesitant to take new routes on the morning of something important.

In the future, you might want to check out Memorial Dr. but I'm unsure where is the best place to hop onto it. Since it is a smaller road when it winds through the Memorial area, it isn't the best choice to take for an extended pass.

I'm curious to know what kind of route Mapquest gives you.

Richmond runs parallel to Westheimer. Perhaps it runs faster.

Mapquest and yahoo both tell me to use I -10, but to be honest 10 terrifies me :)

It is major important too . . I'm interviewing for a position with CPS. Should I get it, I can tell wal-mart to take their part-time cashier position and shove it up their ass. something I'm really wanting to do after the day I had.

Are you relatively near a Park and Ride location? If so, you can research the bus routes online so once you arrive downtown you will know where to go.

I have Trips and Streets, but it thinks that I-10 is best... perhaps you could just get a room in the area the night before :)

I found I-10 OK before 7am. At 7:05, it is BAD!!!!! Also, lets up once you cross under 610. BTW, I-10 will be closed this weekend at 610. Starting 9pm tonight. Will be reopened by Sunday afternoon.

Just exit the Downtown (Smith???) street, and Polk is easy to find.

Good Luck Melligrl.

I have had no sleep in quite a while so either will make perfect sense to me:)

Why aren't you sleeping?

I'm not sleeping much myself. I teach full time at a college between Dallas and Austin, but I also teach night classes in Dallas. So, the nights I teach, I don't get home until 11:00 ish. But I still have to get my daughters fed dressed and at school about 7:30, then drive 45 minutes and be on campus for office hours at 8:15.

At least today I don't have classes, just updating some web pages, and about to go pick up my daughters.

Okay, it seems I also can post boring, in addition to profound and inane.

Not at all boring...

I have bouts of not being able to sleep. I'll live.:)

I have three daughters and know the morning routine well. LOL

Daughters

Both my girls are very bright, which makes life interesting. Oldest just turned 15, youngest about to hit 12. I don't mind working nights during the week, because the oldest is parked on the computer, chatting with 12 friends at once, and the youngest LIKES to go to bed early.

Most times I'd rather be busy than bored.

When we vacation, we go full speed all day; I know some people take vacations to laze on a beach, or catch up on reading or sleep. Not us. Just got back from Rome, and we squeezed an incredible amount into the time between Christmas and New Years (That's when it is REALLY cheap to travel, and when we are all out of school.)

So, what remedies to insomnia have you tried? It seems I am only good at keeping students awake (I try to make class fun), not on getting to dream land.

My girls are quite a bit younger than yours (7,5, and 2)

Just got back from Rome?? Lucky you. I'd love to go there myself someday.:)

I've tried soooo many things for my insomnia..Tea, meds, meditation, etc.

Nothing works.

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. I prefer Ezra Brooks. It has a delightful smokey flavor that has just enough bite without being too harsh. An inexpensive Bourbon that, to me, just as nice, if not nicer than many more expensive brands.

Mixing it with just a bit of spring water and ice does nicely, nighty nite.

Coffee....lots and lots of coffee,lol
Perhaps that is why you can't sleep at night, too. I can't even have tea after noon, or I up up watching the History channel until the wee hours.

There has to be a kind of coffee or tea with a shorter half-life...
