How do I buy a Vibrator?

So I’ve been giving this a lot of thought recently, and I think I want to buy a vibrator. Buuuuut….being the good little girl that I am…I have absolutely NO idea how to go about it. How do I pick out the best one? How much do they cost? Because I CANNOT put it on my credit card where my wonderful, but very conservative parents would see it. Where do I find a store that would sell them (do I look in the yellow pages under “Sex Toys”)? Any advice would be MORE than welcome!

depending on what state you live in an adult store or an adult "novelty" store is your best bet. Yellowpages are a start.

And just to let you know many of the online sex sites have very unassuming names they send out bills from, so your conservative parents get a bill from "United Bussness Assosiates" not from "Joe's sexy sex toy place"

Yeah....a bill from Joe's Sexy Sex Toy Place would NOT be good....I was totally kidding about the yellow pages part....guess I'll just have to go check that out....
Thanks Four

it's not going to be of any quality, but a cheap and quick solution is always the novelty store in the mall.

pretty pretty pretty please go to the top of the How To section to the lovely Blank Manual - in there, you will find more then a handful of threads on anything you could possibly need to know about purchasing a vibe. Also a couple of threads on house hold items which are just as good - or good finds in the local hardware/wallmart.

from style, to what kind of orgasm you want, to colors and why, and also textures, materials and price. where to get them, and a whole slew of internet websites that ship with brown packaging, also there is a few threads on having toy parties and the like.

Enjoy! :)

I should have thought to look at the Blank Manual first...seeing as though that's like one of my most favorite places on Lit!

Spencer's doesn't sell vibes - you need to look for an honest to goodness adult store. Depending on what state you live in, this may be tough to do. I'm in Massachusetts, and am fortunate to live near an Amazing Superstore (www.amazing.net - look for store locations). Many shops that rent adult films also carry a limited selection of toys.

I just did a quick search on superpages.com to see what you'd look for in terms of listings. I went to yellow pages, shopping, specialty stores, then adult entertainment products and services. Hopefully there will be some stores in your area!

If you can't find a store, check some online shops to find out how they would show up on your credit card statement. I just checked Amazing.net, and their FAQ section said purchases will show up as Amazing Networks, LLC. If your parents are into porn/toys, or are the types to go digging for information about your purchases, then I'd still recommend against charging items - if not, you may be able to get away with it. Items are also shipped in discreet packaging, so nobody would know you'd ordered adult toys.

Good luck hun - hope you find a store near you, or some other way to find your first vibe! :)

I was at a Spencer's just this past weekend... And they actually DO sell a few vibrators.

But I would suggest that that you try Lover's Lane... They have a fairly decent selection of vibes... And if you have trouble choosing one, you could always ask someone who works there for some suggestions... I've found them to be very helpful there.

:rose:

Thanks for all the suggestions guys....I've heard about a Rabbit a few times now so I'm gonna go look into one of those.

Lynxie...I'm from Massachusetts too! I'm actually living in Georgia right now, but there was an Amazing not 20 mintues from my house in MA...maybe I'll just have to visit it over Christmas...thanks for reminding me about them!

www.mypleasure.com

They are online, very discreet, have pretty much everything, and also a section for beginners. When they deliver, you can't tell what is in the package ... and even your credit card bill has a generic name, as opposed to "My Pleasure."

Enjoy browsing ... shopping is half the fun. :D

Another option is to get a "massager" like the Hitachi Magic Wand. Many, many stores sell them, but I found the best deal at Goodman's Small Appliances http://www.goodmans.net/ (plus, it comes with 2 fabulous attachments). That'd eliminate the credit card problem, but using Paypal would do the same thing. Also, eBay has a fine selection of adult toys, including Rabbits for under $20 (none of the sellers have sexual names, so no credit card problems, although you could also use paypal).

Good luck!

That's a great idea...getting a massager....maybe I'll try that first...see if i like it...then maybe move onto the whole vibe thing when I can get to a shop over christmas break...Thanks for all the suggestions guys....you've all been VERY helpful!! :)

"Starship" is a chain of sex stores, they have multiple stores in the metro Atlanta area, if you are in that part of GA. They don't have a huge selection but they do carry Rabbits.

Bah. Haven't been in one in a while, I guess. Thanks for correcting my error, Phoenix. But I think I'd still rather buy one from a "real" store, versus a novelty gift shop. Amazing Superstores are fabulous, My Own - definitely plan a shopping expedition while you're in MA over the holidays! :)

Make sure and let us know when you do get something, i know we're all curious!

I can't wait to have a good saucy success story to tell!! I hear the orgasms are absolutly mind blowing!

I usually...

Get in my car
Drive to the adult bookstore a couple miles up the road
Walk in and buy one

I don't like waiting for shipping.

They say patience is a virtue but no woman waits for shipping.

It's not a good idea to buy any sex toys using PayPal. They instituted a new policy in September that includes $500 fines for buyers and sellers of "adult material."

I buy quite a few e-books each month and none of the erotic romance e-book publishers will accept PayPal anymore because of problems with this new policy.
