How do i get a screen shot from tv?

This might be stupid to ask but how do i get a decent screen shot from a video game thats played on the t.v.? i really want to get a shot of my WWE create-a-wrestler because he actually looks like me, i tired my camera but no go, glare was to much even with out the flash, any suggestions?

Some video games allow you direct record the game to view later then just use a video clip program.

You may try taking a video camera you can tape the screen but even a 30 mil has a floating line.

You could set up a Pin hole camera and then take a picture of the reflection?

If all elese fails go to the store buy an outfit just like his take a picture of you and say it is him.

i know how to record it on vcr but i dont got that kind of digicam/videocam its just a normal one, eh i dunno stupid ideal i guess

Things that might work?

Black out the room, bring the brightness down on the TV. use no flash, slowest shudder speed you got on the camera.

Pin hole camera should work, it just takes a bit of effort to focus one. So you can take a quality pictur from it. You do know what a pin hole camera is?

You need a camera with an adjustable shutter speed and a tripod.

Set the shutter speed at 1/30th second or slower.

Mount the camera on the tripod and adjust it so it is directly in front of the center of the TV screen and close enough to get only the screen.

Focus the camera if/as required to get a clear image of the screen.

Freeze the image on the screen by pausing the game if necesary.

Turn out the room lights to remove any glare.

Trip the shutter; be careful not to move the camera when tripping the shutter.

You might need to adjust the brightness on the TV to provide sufficient light and/or decrease the shutter speed to get a good exposure.

One thing to be ware of -- You'll almost never get a good picture of a TV Image because the raster lines will show up whenyou're close enough to capture only what's on the screen.

I've taken pictures like this with a 35mm film camera, but it should work equally well with a digitl camera as long as you can control the shutter speed for a long exposure.

Another way to capture a screen image is to install a video capture card in your computer and play the game through the video capture card on your computer.

Harold's right on the money about taking a pic of the TV screen ... easier to do with a digital, because the conditions can be somewhat nebulous, and you can see the results immediately with a digital.

I worked at a video game company for a dozen years, and we had a big machine that produced screen shots from an RF modulated or A/V signal for advertising copy and magazine layouts. It was about the size of an apple crate and cost about fifty grand, so that's not a real practical solution.

Other than taking a pic of the screen, I know that many modern video cards include tuners and direct A/V inputs; it's possible that you could just capture the screen image by running it though a high-end video card. Can't be any more difficult that capturing frames of streaming porno videos. Not that I've ever done that. Really.

There are video cards with "frame grabbers" or seperate frame grabber cards for about the price of a video card. They can decode the TV signal (or output from a VCR) and convert the image into something editable (like .mpeg or .jpeg).

Ask around; I'm suprised that no one here has one. It's on my Christmas list after I decide which one to tell Santa to look for. Or maybe Santa is going to bring me a DVD writer???
