How do I sell my underwear?

Ok, this is embarassing, but...

The holidays are coming up and having a little extra money wouldn't be unwelcome.

The spouse, half joking, suggested I start selling my underwear online. He showed me a few sites where women offer their underwear.

What do you think about the idea? I have a bunch of old underwear that I found when doing some major fall cleaning and don't want/need anymore. But if someone would pay me for it...

Well, it just sounds weird - but people like all kinds of strange things, so, why not indulge them a little.

Spouse says we can sell his, too, if anybody has that as a kink.

So, is there a way to do this without going to the expense of setting up a website and credit card processing and everything? Is this just too weird to get into?

Thanks for your help

Millie - a bit perplexed, but very curious:confused:

Be aware that sending them through the US Mail may be illegal. I have heard of the post office considering them both obscene and a health hazard.

Well, there's always the competition...

I don't think underwear can be considered obscene - I mean, they sell it in WalMart right out in the open. And how would the Victoria's Secret catalog operate?

I guess because it's used...

Now, a picture of me in it, masturbating or something...that might be obscene.

Most of the sites seem to send it in a ziploc or something like that - so unless the post office opened it or the package ripped open or something...

But, there's always the competition.

But how weird is doing this? And how do you do it without getting into serious cybercommerceland?

Whether its illegal or not, a new website with little in the way to spend on promotion will have little chance of suceeding by christmas considering its already mid-november.

Traffic to a site needs months of time to ramp up even when the site owners can afford to pay for promotion and pay per click advertising.

Its been our experience that if you want to put something online in time for the christmas selling season, and its going to be a brand new url, you need to start it 6 months in advance.

Yeah, I kind of figured that. I'm pretty familiar with the realities of retail and the timing. I was just hoping that somebody might know of some kind of reliable but kinky version of E-Bay where I might try this strange idea.

And what do you all think about the idea itself?

Well its certainly not my cup of tea, but then in the past 11 years I've put websites online for people selling all kinds of stuff I wouldn't waste 2 cents for.

Buying someone else's panties doesn't do anything for me. Now if instead of panties it were a videotape, maybe.

I don't know of any sort of adult oriented ebay out there. The two biggest systems, yahoo and ebay both prohibit adult material, but that doesn't mean there aren't systems that cater to adults. Mind you, we've come a long way from when ebay used to allow a single photo and 256 word description of the product. You'd have to put up more than just a few photos of your self to generate any interest.

Yeah, the pictures thing may have to be part of any such effort - but that makes me pretty nervous - I'm not totally comfortable with such things...Maybe without my face...

And a video...That makes me even more nervous

Millie- definitely fascinated by the erotic, but not so sure about becoming a fantasy object...

Woman Gets Probation For Selling Dirty Underwear

The former Clemson University student who was arrested in July and charged with selling soiled underwear and other items over the Internet will not go to prison. Christine Vetter, 21, of Central, pleaded guilty to federal charges of mailing obscene and filthy items.

U.S. District Judge G. Ross Anderson sentenced Vetter to five years' probation. Prosecutors said that Vetter operated a Web site and sold and mailed her soiled panties, used feminine hygiene products, unclean sex aids (news - web sites), and other items to more than 125 customers around the country.
Vetter graduated from Clemson in May with a degree in marketing.

Well...Doesn't that put a damper on things. Grasping at hope - used hygiene products and unclean sex aids sound over the top - and how filthy do people want these things?

And there's always the post office's competition...

A marketing major - well...

As someone once told me, the O and the N in Clemson stand for onor and nowledge (honor and knowledge)

(just teasing)

I'll have to think long and hard about this...

i dont think anyone will do anything to you. You may be penalized if you sell many items and become a regular.

don't forget to wash your undies that you intend to
sell thoroughly first ;)

I guess so - but some of these sites seemed to sell stuff that had the woman's "odor" on it, so to speak. But who knows, maybe someone will want to buy my clean old undies...

stormpay.com and yowcow.com are both services similar to paypal, of course paypal will freeze your account if they find you selling "adult" items so check those out. they're both easy to setup, just make a simple page where you have pics of the underwear maybe, and an email addy you can be reached at

Perhaps in the short term you could wholesale the panties to another retailer?

Try here?

Ebay DOES have a section for adults. It is listed under the "Everything Else" link and the "Mature Audience" subheading (I think). People sell sex toys, videos and dolls, so why not underwear? (Washing optional?) Good luck.

Yeah, Ebay does have an adult section as well as a section for anything that is considered "weird".

Thank you for the wonderful ideas and the links. I'll be researching it more over the next few days. It still feels weird, but if I can help fulfill someone's fantasy and make a little money, while maintaining the freedom and more or less anonymity of the internet, I may decide to give it a try.

It's still weird. Someone you know - maybe. Someone you don't - who knows?

Are you attractive? You definately should pose in them.

What else? Include some dirty talk in the advert, I guess. That always works with a large segment of the male population.

No, I never did get around to it - nervous about the whole thing, not so wild about giving some sites my credit card #, etc.

But, as I said in the pm, if anybody wants to do something one-on-one, let's talk...

Milllie - always a pervert, sometimes a greedy one.

close friend did this

I had a close friend try this on eBay before eBay put a stop to it. The key though is that she got all kinds of offers to send dirty e-mails, custom images for $1 a piece, etc.. She probably could have built up a business selling pictures to x number of people $1 a day each, but in the end wasn't worth it to her.
You may want to start by offering the clean panties with a few pictures of yourself in them and see where the offers take you.
There are a few adult based auction sites (already mentioned in previous posts) that you can use to generate traffic to your own site. There are a lot of inexpensive things you can do for e-commerce from PayPal to BitPass as well. Web sites are pretty cheap these days too. You could probably have a hosting provider for about $10 a month. If you need a template I would even be willing to design that for you for free (I am professional Web developer/designer).
My theory is its better to try something than not, as long as the risk of loss is understood and manageable.
Go makes lots of money.

U tease

I am confused, mostly cause I have a wicked panty fetish..he he he.
Anyway, u said u did not want to be thought of a s a sexual object....to me that is excitement of a ladies panties. Let me know if you are serious about selling.........I may be interested. :D
