How do you feel about readers wanting to email with you?

I just found a handful of Feedback emails from the past several years that I had overlooked. A lot of them are people wanting to email back and forth and tell me their stories. Like "I read your story. Something similar happened to me. Do you want to chat about it?"

A dirty little part of me would love to read their "true" stories. But I also feel wary of connecting with anyone outside of this site. I can't imagine anything serious happening, but I am unsure if I want to open that door. This feels like a classic horny vs common sense battle in my mind, and I just wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone had any thoughts.

I've only had one of these, and I responded, but politely - I don't want to get dragged into a back and forth about me personally, which is where I feel like most of these trend. Did you get that vibe too?

If they ask about a story, my writing in general, or praise me for my writing (Right, that always happens), I might answer from a different account than my main one. If it is the ones about meeting up, hooking up, that I must be a sexy black chick (only they don't usually use the term black but the derogatory N) it gets deleted.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that, Millie. Some people are really trash.

Responding to the nice ones from a secondary account is a great idea.

I get the vibe that they are horny pervs who want get off on sharing their "true" stories with strangers. I'm a horny perv too, but I don't want to get dragged into any drama.

From a different perspective, I responded to an email over a year ago and we’ve been going back and forth 2-3 times a week ever since. I don’t know their real name, where they live, or practically anything else of a personal nature, we just talk about writing mostly (this person is a writer, too), in general and what we encounter on this site. It’s been a blast.

That's depressing, that people do that to strangers.

Sorry you have to deal with it.

That sounds great!

I always respond to emails, but I never engage with offers of telling me true stories. I typically respond with "Hearing the true stories of people tends to interfere with my writing" and they either move on or send me the story anyway and I delete it. There was a time when I would openly discuss real life experiences with fans of my writing, but they quickly took it to a gross place and I put an end to that.

I'm here for fantasy, not reality.

I've received a couple of e-mails with feedback on my writing. Most recently was months and months ago. I responded to the feedback e-mails with a short thanks and that was it. I didn't want prolonged contact, I'm happy.

Never gotten any “true story” emails like this myself. Mostly just praise or criticism, a few requests. Some of the latter I’ve fulfilled, others I’ve turned down. Only gotten one wannabe hot chat offer and I declined.

Readers are generally just fine, sometimes they reply if I reply to them, sometimes this leads to nice chat.

The emails I get basically going 'hi sexy!' or 'I want to chat with a hot bi babe' (so do I sweetheart, but you're making it all about you) - just delete.
(basically same as Millie only with wanting a submissive rather than black babe...)

The ones who have read my profile and then email wanting to talk about kinky sex with hot bi babes - can go either way, but usually the latter. I find if I ask what they think of a relevant story of mine, they either lead to a bit of half-decent conversation, or they vanish, so that's my default response now.

I added 'please don't contact me to chat' to my profile and those requests have stopped.

If someone reaches out with an e-mail to reply to, I'll generally reply along the lines of "Thank you for your remarks and support". If a specific question is asked about a story, I'll answer, anything that is personal I will respond with the "thank you' message and ignore the rest.

I don't get involved with people who want to tell me all about their maybe true, but possibly bullshit, sexual adventures and don't tell them mine.

I know I write erotica, including taboo, but I'm not a 14 year old who needs to here about what you claim to have done to so and so, or brag about what I did to someone.

Act like an adult.

But as for personal in regards to things other than sex I had someone reach out and mention the name of a small beach I used in a story that I used to go to when I was a kid and that hosted the annual Penguin plunge for quite a few years. They said they also lived in RI and had been there. They then referenced another place I'd used and said they lived a few minutes from there and where in RI did I live? being that I lived within a few minutes of the second location I decided it might not be the best thing to keep going. Probably harmless, but you never know these days and its not like I live alone.

Like @lovecraft68 (I've always wondered about the 68, btw), I'll answer anyone that reaches out. I've had email conversations with a very few about my stories and a few other things. Anything that even hints at something untoward gets ignored.

And so you know, I will not meet you and my avatar is not me. My fairy wings are much more elaborate and my boobs are a little smaller. 🤭

And that's why a Literotica convention would never work.

"I'm looking for Shelby. Dark red hair, big boobs, gossamer wings."
"Nope, not seen anyone like that. But have you seen Stunned anywhere? Bright yellow cat with dead eyes, perpetual look of surprise?"

I see you with a Hercule Poirot(Kenneth Branagh) mustache for whiskers. Probably stand out a bit if I'm even close. :)

I haven't published that much lately and got some hate emails over the topic.

However, I regularly get emails from (especially) new authors thanking me for my comment on their story. There is a small cadre of them that I have helped collaborate on both new stories and where they want to go with their next chapter. I consider it fun.

I've never been very fond of Kenneth Branagh, except when he played a Nazi plotting the Final Solution. As a Nazi, He seemed right at home to me. As to his mustache, I prefer David Suchet's and his performances. Come to think about it, Peter Ustinov and Albert Finney are better as well.

Yeah, but IMHO, his mustache does closely resemble @StillStunned's whiskers...

EDIT: When I think of the great detective, it is Suchet that I see in my mind's eye.

Getting back on track, I love to get fan mail and comments. They don't have to, Ra Ra, you're the greatest writer ever (not that I don't like hearing that). Negative ones are cool too when it comes from they don't like what happens to someone in the story. I get a little concerned when an anti-hero is hailed as a savior, but if they realize I don't actually support vigilante justice in the real world, I like that they like the bitch.
