I'm interested in making music on my computer. I don't know if I'll actually enjoy doing it once I do it so I figure I would d/l some free software to see if I enjoy doing that.

Except I don't know how to use it.

Any computer musicians out there?

Actually its pretty easy to use...I use it quite abit actually to more or less make some session loops. I am still working it into my recording sessions though...it doesnt seem to play nicely with some of the acid software

Thanks you guys!

When I get some specific questions I'll PM but I found a great resource is youtube if you type fruity loops FL studio tutorial. They give videos that start from the very beginning.

I agree popcorn, it's pretty easy to use.

It's been a while and I used an older version but it should still be the same.

Typically in the old version you'd start by picking how long you want the loop sequence to be. Either 4, 8 or 16 beats if I remember rightly.

After that you pick your instruments by dragging them from the instrument task bar into your track section. FL should automatically add a new track for you. Set when you want the instrument to "sound" by clicking along the length of the track

Basically after that it's about you layering all your tracks and controling when a track plays.

Time consuming stuff is adjusting the actual instrument and changing pitch but you could probably pound out a song in an hour when you get used to it and if you don't make too many changes to the default instrument settings.

Have fun and good luck.
